First Ford in 35 years – I have recently purchased a 3.2XLT with a plus pack with low mileage. Beautiful car but nervous about some of the bad press. The ride is excellent, interior noise is very low and fuel consumption is as expected. Don’t let me down ford this is a stunning car if this is good and lasts I will upgrade brought it to tow our caravan and see Australia Show details
Lemon Ford Ranger – brought the ute in December 22 by February 23 it sat at the car yard at motorama ford Moorooka QLD for 3 months waiting for a computer chip? only to be told was the incorrect one then waited another week to get the Ute back, have taken it back 3 times in 8 months to have the computer sorted, the boot lid keeps leaking, Motorama ford had the Ute… Read more
for 3 weeks to review it due to our ongoing complaints, when I called them to fond out whats going on! they admitted they forgot that they had the Ute?????, I then had to wait until they looked at it, Ford Australia will not give us our money back or recognize the ongoing issues with the computer, we are stuck with a "LEMON "
Ranger all the way – I have 2 PX.111 and no problems at all, both have over 80k km they have not missed a beat, cheap servicing by ford no issues at all, comfortable, easy to drive, I also have a Next gen and its great to but have only put 15k kms on it, all 3 no complaints. Show details

What a Lemon – Vibrating Machine!! This car has gone back 4 times now to Ford. originally They diagnosed it with a Drive Shaft problem that they told me 1 in 4 had. it still vibrates when accelerating. They have now told me its because of the leaf springs and can't be fixed. They confirmed a lot of people have this problem. The anti collision works some days and… Read more
not others. Ford said its because of an update they are waiting on. due February next year. Pain in the butt as it keeps going off when there is no traffic near me. Lane control system is slow and painful. can't be turned off either, so you are stuck with it. If you indicates the wheel doesn't let you change lanes for a few seconds. Sun visors are like tooth picks. Turn them to the side and they don't even reach half way down the window. No light with the mirror in either sun visor, wife's not happy. Comes with a lot pof "upgraded and New Tech" problem is you can not use any of it while the ca ris moving. all seems a bit childish not being able to use things. especially when the passenger could be doing it. Rear seat belt warnings go off when you have one person sitting in the back. I have been back for 4 software updates and its still happening!!. Wireless charger is only 5 amp. so it actually doesn't charge. it just maintains battery levels. Bit useless if you want to charge your phone! I have had 4 different 4x4 and this is the worst. Would be ok if it was around $45K but certainly not worth the $75K paid. . The guys at Ford have been great and have tried to help with everything, but that doesnt make up for the poor product. NEW Gen should be called Old useless Gen!!
Very happy - exceeds expectations! – I've had the Ranger a few weeks now, and I am pleased to report that the more I experience it the more I appreciate it. It drives very well for a Ute, more like an SUV in many ways. the steering is light at low speed (which is needed as this vehicle is a big unit to park) and combined with the ride is a good touring car - what a surprise. I towed… Read more
a 2.6t van for a few hundred klms and was very impressed with the stability and steering as a tow tug. The engine power & torque for towing is adequate - not as strong as a V6 diesel - but better than most 4 cylinder cars. Its a big solid unit. It feels like it will last a lifetime. The motor is a 5 cylinder unit which has a gravelly sound not unlike a V8's, but at times sounding a bit rough - overall I like to sound of it - some won't.
The infotainment system is very impressive. I use Android Auto and find it exceptional, linking to the vehicle seamlessly. I use voice commands for the phone, navigation Google searches, music streaming, and as they link together. I can ask to play Frank Sinatra and Google knows I want to play Frank from my Spotify playlist, or I can ask Google for a Local Chinese Restaurant - then with the press of a selection button navigate to it - brilliant! I do not use the Ford navigation system - I find Google Maps are more up-to-date and the Voice recognition is slicker than Fords - which works fine but is not as easy to use.
I have the Technology pack, well worthwhile - adaptive cruise control is fantastic!
The only negative so far is the complex electrics - My Auto electrician had difficulty wiring the Caravan brake controller as the Ford system is quite different to "normal" auto wiring and requires a degree of re-education it seems! I therefore suspect that any home handyman wiring will be problematic.
2016 PX 2 XLT 3.2 Auto (Post DPF) Ford Ranger – Purchased the vehicle in December 2016. Have only managed to do 8000km in 14 months. 4000km on a return trip to Hervey Bay from Victoria, the rest around town. So far the ute has not missed a beat. Sure, it seems to have too many gears when driving around town like a grand father on his way to the bowling club, but get it on the highway, towing my… Read more
2000kg caravan and it cruises along quite sweetly. I do not notice any kind of lag or hesitation, it just does its job nice and comfortably. The only annoyances I have are: When playing music from an iPod/iPad/iPhone there is often a silent "skip"for a fraction of a second, fairly regularly. I will see if this is addressed at the next service. Cup holders between the console and gear shifter. They just end up with someones extra large drink in there getting in the way of resting my elbow on the console and hand on the shifter. Its a hard life i know. Overall, the vehicle suits me needs and so far has not let me down. July 2019: So far only up to 24000km. No issues other than the radio (Sync 3 system) shitting itself, which Ford replaced under warranty no questions asked. Approximately 3 months later the Navigation system developed an intermittent Navigation Fault error. Once again Ford examined and found the GPS antenna connection faulty and fixed under warranty. Towed the 2T caravan 8000km throughout outback Queensland without a care in the world, returning about 15.5L/100km hwy cruising at 100kph where possible. Still happy with the purchase, still love the Ute.

Great Vehicle. Ticks all the boxes – I have just bought a 2022 manual PX3 XLT to replace my 2017 PX2. I got an order in for the very last week of production before the "Next Gen" horror story. I have found my PX2 to be ultra reliable having had not a thing go wrong with it in 5 years and 150K of ownership except a cracking rear tub which was fixed under warranty, which includes… Read more
several very rough outback trips including Simpson Desert, Anne Beadell, Canning Stock Route and the like. For a ute, I find it comfortable, well appointed, and the tech is appropriate without being ridiculously over the top like the "Next Gen". It drives remarkably car like, given the agricultural underpinnings, and has, in my opinion, the best calibration for traction control in the business. Looking forward to starting again with the PX3, and hope to get 10 - 15 years out of it, so that I never have to drive something like the "Next Gen".
I love my Ford PX 2 Ranger – General use with getting fire wood, taking the dogs for a swim / walk in the bush, site seeing etc. Used 3 to 4 times a week for the above. Services are done every 12 months at our regional / closest Ford Dealer Show details
Work hard and play hard – The 2018 Ranger XLT ticks all the boxes. A daily work horse, family transport and weekend getaway of 4x4 driving and camping. Regular getaway towing a camper 2.4 tonne and for work a 2.8 tonne trailer, it has run faultlessly in 3 1/2 years with now 170000 km on the clock. It is serviced by Ford every 15000 km. Show details

Disappointed to say the least – Bought new February 2016 $56k As winter came on the injector rattle was bad. NRMA advised to tow the car. Dealer said they "reset" something and 6 weeks later back again. Send back again and again during the colder months every 6 weeks or so and never fixed. The temperature of the car would not heat up for at least 5 or more Km's. This coincided… Read more
with the injector rattle. A fix to the injector noise may be to have the engine warm up quicker. Once at operating temperature no rattle. Driving around the full electonic dash would go blank numerous times and cruise control errors were regularly comming up on the dash until you stop, turn off and restart the car. At 1400rpm during acceleration car shudders. Interior painted trim scratches easy from just getting in and out. Great concept but poorly executed. Ended up buying a cheap VE S2 wagon from auctions to get me around. Rangers gone after having it for almost a year and the commodores still going strong now in 2020 as a family and shopping car. Looking again for a twin cab but still don't know what to get. Consumer law needs to step up on cars that are not fit for purpose as there is no local car industry to protect anymore.
Seriously reconsider if buying a Ranger for towing – Ford Australia mislead and misadvertise the towing capacity of the Ford Ranger. As clearly when you tow with your vehicle as you can read all over the internet and haven been subject to it personally over 10 times. The transmission over heating. Shuts down all drive and power to your vehicle. I contacted Ford Australia with evidence. Details and… Read more
everything to assist requesting the take a serious look at all the issues people have with the transmission over heating. Was told i can fit a transmission cooler of my own cost to fix it if i want as Ford are more then aware of thousands of complaints but have not recitify as part of any recall. If you are looking at buying a Ford Ranger for towing of any size.. seriously reconsider as I cant rate the 2017 Ranger that I have so poorly for towing. Everything else is excellent but Ford really failed here and reslly dont care about their customers to recitify their issue.
Heap of crap should have kept 2013 BT50 – 2017 XLT ranger Cold start engine knock from 33000km done 60000km now ford can’t find a problem after several check I have recording of the knock and have been told by ford that it’s overfueling 12-13 km/l and towing a 3t van over 6000km 22.7km/l average Show details

Great all round vehicle – Vehicle used every day as a runaround and twice a year to tow a 2.75 tonne caravan. Logbook service every 12 months and engine oil and filter changed mid service period. Purchased Feb 2017. ECU dyno tuned for a 20% torque and power increase. Automatic transmission cooler and bypass valve fitted. Canopy, bullbar and upgraded suspension. Great tow tug. Show details

Better than expected but Ford faults still there – A good car to drive and with 100000ks up it has been very reliable. The finish in the cabin on the front door handle is pathetic as are the two piece wheel nuts which left me flabbergasted as just a minor mistake with the wrench can make it very difficult to remove them.Car is serviced regularly and last mechanic commented on its good condition. Good Solid Workhorse – Car is a daily driver for the wife and tow vehicle for the Caravan when on holidays. I get to drive some weekends. Rig is serviced by the Ford dealer at the specified intervals. Show details
Great ute so far, dealer is rubbish – Bought a 2018 demo XLT Supercab in September 2019, 7400kms on the clock, use the car regularly but have a work vehicle for the daily commute. Very happy with it, getting around 8.4l/100km combined, not towing anything yet. Very comfortable and great drive, have the usual complaints like interior components mark and scratch too easily and the paint… Read more
is very easily scratched. My biggest disappointment was with Moreton Bay Ford. Delivered the car with only a half full tank, didn’t detail it, it was washed, and made no attempt to address the few paint defects I asked them to look at, but the most disappointing thing is that I have had the ute for over three months now and still havnt had a follow up call from them to see if everything was ok. Ford Australia has some major problems with customer service, they are the worst in the field and once you have paid for your car they don’t care anymore.
The ute of the decade – This is the best ute ever. Very good on the diesel. And how's our 20 foot caravan with no problems at all with 5 of us included. Low maintenance and the reliable. Show details
Excellent vehicle both as daily driver & tow vehicle – Our Ranger is primarily a daily driver to and from work. Mine is an XLT High-Country - special one-off...very nice vehicle. I was in the car & transport industry for around 25 years and I've owned 35 vehicles to date. I'm happy to advise the Ranger is by far the best I've owned. We also have a 3 tonne caravan which we've towed as far up as Port… Read more
Douglas and we average 2 to 3 trips a year. The Ranger has performed beautifully on every trip regardless of the roads or conditions. I highly recommend the PX2 Ranger as a daily driver & tow vehicle.
Great car and only gets let down alot by the Dunlop Grandtrek AT22 tyres – I was given this car as a company car and I love it, the first time I drove it in the wet it was frightening! Tyres are horrendous in the wet and are useless offroad. I have had 2 flats in 2 years and I have only had 2 previous flats in 24 previous years of driving. Ford and Mazda know these tyres are not acceptable to most owners and still… Read more
haven't done anything about it. These Grandtrek AT22 tyres are made in Thailand and that is the problem, the Japanese made tyres are fine.
Onto the positives: brilliant Apple Carplay and infotainment system. Very good active safety systems that always work. Very quiet and comfortable. Well built and finished, paint seems to be thin as it chips alot.
Apart from the worst tyres I have ever had on a car, I love my XLT Ranger.
40,000Kms travelled and I am still happy with it and am very impressed with how new it still feels.
No problems at all and uses 10l/100KMS, mainly city driving.
DISASTER DISASTER DISASTER – Engine and turbo blew while driving on major highway - car had 50,000 km and under 2 years old - had it towed to Goulburn Ford who are clearly not interested in any level of customer service - don't return calls or emails and are happy to sell their soul for their mother company. Ford deny warranty and at our own cost we have had engine rebuilt… Read more
to diagnose root cause of engine failure - faulty fuel injector. This car held so many dreams for us and it has turned into a nightmare that has set us back tens of thousands of dollars and virtually crippled us financially. NEVER EVER BUY A FORD!
Very happy with the car – I usually use my car to drive between my family and work. I always use the car for about two hours each day, every day of the week. I get my car serviced once or twice a year. my mechanic has not mentioned any issues with the car and also the fuel lasts very well Show details
Ford Ranger XLT 2017 – Purchased last years runout in May this year. XLT brand new, paid $10,000 less than the going rate because we sniffed around dealers. Our local dealer couldn’t beat the Melbourne dealers price, so my review of the ranger definitely includes my advice to COMPARE dealers! The vehicle itself isn’t as nice inside as the Nissan Navara we tested but you… Read more
can’t compete with how powerful and elevated the ranger is. It’s strong, and fierce and hasn’t missed a beat. Takes a bit of diesel but not out of the ordinary for a Ute of its power.

Great vehicle, however – After a lot of research I purchased a new Ford Ranger XLT Supercab with Tech Pack in 2016. In my opinion it was the best equipped ute in its class and (again my opinion) by far the best looking. 2 years on I still love the vehicle. It has been 100% reliable with absolutely no mechanical or electrical issues so far. However I am extremely… Read more
disappointed with two things in particular. Firstly the paint. I paid extra for premium paint and on close inspection you can definitely see the "orange peel" which I feel is poor for a close to $60,000 car. Also the paint appears to be ultra thin. It scratches and chips far too easily. Secondly the panels are almost as thin as the paint. Even when washing you need to be very careful to not exert too much force as even a relatively light touch is enough to push a panel in and as I unfortunately found out, it doesn't always pop back out. All in all, a fantastic vehicle with some very disappointing flaws.
Great Ute – Had my fx4 2017 for over a year now can’t fault it I’ve pushed it to its limits bush 4wd sand snow towing and has performed out standing very comfortable inside (fx4 leather) best Ute I’ve ever owned I also had the previous mk1 2012 and enjoy it so much I had only one Ute in mind when I upgraded Show details
Great car – Picked up my new ford ranger last week, it’s a great car with plenty of torque. The car is awesome, just unfortunate that the service from Binks Ford in Victoria was so horrible. I would highly recommend the car for around town or some serious four wheel driving. Ver happy! Show details
Very dissatisfied – Drives very well when everything works (rarely) However I have owned my XLT for 4 months and its done 8,000ks. Have had a never ending list of things going wrong/not working. to Trevans in Lismore) front sensor same as cruise control.
Engine loses power (like the key has been turned off and then back on).
Headlights are very dim.
Radio reception is very very poor.
Nav system was several years out of date when I picked it up (didn't show Pac Hwy deviations that were 4 years old).
Drivers seat is uncomfortable (lumber support wrong height).
Trevans have been difficult to deal with and have tried ignoring my calls and visits, to no avail.
Ford Australia have been paying lip service only to my complaints
I would certainly not recommend this vehicle to anyone.
Happy with Ranger XLT 3.2 2017 – Only 5000 k so far very impressive. Pros. Looks , power , infotainment ,plenty 12v charging, smooth steering Cons Bit chewy on fuel on short runs 12-13L No start stop button..newer models might have Hate the door charms Overall so far very impressed and will continue to provide feedback as i go. Have an issue with the indicators flashing at double speed on half turn to full turn of the steerin – We have developed an issue with the left and right indicators? They are working fine, no blown globes, but when the steering wheel is turned half or more, they will flash at Double speed, like a normal car would if a bulb has blown? Rubbish – Engine died at 46000km. Dealer has had vehicle for 7 weeks now and I cannot get Ford Customer “Care” to reply to any form of contact. Totally unacceptable. Seems to be a common problem. Ford can’t or won’t tell me if they have fixed the base problem so I expect that the same thing will happen again. Show details
very poor – my 2017 ford ranger xlt handles well poor performance and extremely noisy to the point I hate driving it even worse when I pull my two and a half ton caravan vibration no power ford don't want to know the car has been back a number of times with no improvement at all they keep telling me its a soft ware upgrade the vibration is in the Drive Line !! and is getting considerably worse not a soft ware upgrade guess next stop consumer affairs. Happy so far – Beautiful to drive. Quiet and refined inside. Sync 3 system is fantastic but has occasional glitches. Had for 18 months / 40,000km and no problems so far. Navigation – Very happy with the Super Cab Ute generally but as mentioned the Navigation is out dated. Can't fin my house let alone the street which had been created about 3 years ago.
