Help needed – When priming the fuel bubble, fuel is coming out from small hole in carburettor, is this a float issue
Had mine three years now – It,s a very good product. Only issue I,ve had, was buying some 'very' dirty fuel, which had to be completely cleaned out. The unit itself, I cannot praise enough. Maybe because I keep a log of fuel used, service intervals and check over and hours of use dates. It,s used several times each week and runs for three hours each time at roughly 70%… Read more
load. I like the electric start and when not used I,ve installed an extra plug so I can trickle charge the battery.
Misleading Advertising – I needed a generator to output at least 5kW to run the appliances in my house, with heavy units like the water heater, the pool cleaner and no air conditioners on. The 8kW model has an advertised output of 7000 Watts but what isn't disclosed is that the 7000kW is divided in half, for the two 15 amp outlet plugs. 3500kW will not run my house and… Read more
the safety trip switch just "trips off" when I plug the 15 amp lead into the Energex installed "Generator In" plug in the meter box. After speaking to an electrician, he told me that modern generators have a "Multiple Earth Leakage (MEN) Link" installed and it's this link that limits the 15amp output. I will try and return it to Bunnings but I doubt that after having filled the oil and fuel tanks that they'll allow it to be returned.
Not bad works ok – Why does my full boar idles in and out when it's going Show details
Wasn't happy with this product – I got this product for camping and power backup used it 1 time went to use it 1 week later battery dead would not hold charge have not been able to pull start it since Show details
Excellent product as long as you maintain it – Primer bulb can be purchased via a 3rd party. The supplier gas manufactured them and I've bought a supply. Everything else is common sence. Spark plugs cleaned regularly and start on a regular basis.
Good value for money – I had trouble with the fuel bulb. Ordered new one through Bunnings, so not sure what previous complaint was about. Manual easily available online FREE! Again not sure what earlier complaints are about. By the way, I am 72 yo, so if I can do it anyone can. Show details
Its actually okay and some handy hints to keep them going – Folks, was given one as was going to be dumped with 4 years of dried out fuel (really bad as full gum, varnish and blockages everywhere. So I had to strip and rebuild from tank cleaning to engine port and from product review, just value adding to others to help you out. First change spark plug to NGK CR7HSA (Supercheap) so you know that''s good.… Read more
The video attached by another member of similar carby strip down only goes half way and most important missing parts is under the idle stop (black Philips) is the fixed idle jet. Remove idle stop completely unscrewing and remove then prise the plastic jet body out and clean. Also remove the black air cleaner element to expose the two brass lines either side of main venturi and air compressor clean or whatever to ensure working (one side is the airport running through your idle jet. If you damage a gasket, just use a cardboard cutout with sealant as did I. I found the needle valve was not sliding smooth due to build up so just scrape out the side walls as smooth as one can so the needle assembly actually slides to seal. Just take your time and dont damage the seal section of the needle. Whilst casing apart (I know I did mine three times bugger) remove carby side engine top plastic cover and bend the other out so you can remove cam cover and reset valve lash. Mine was at .010mm so backed both down to 0.04mm (made no difference) but 0.03mm for inlet and 0.05mm for exhaust will sort this to be exact. Be careful when removing that cover as above the sparkplug holder is two silver 8mm nuts, they both go to a small bar that drops into the inverter flywheel and add 30minutes of your life to get the bugger back out. Just remove one split case and hold bar to safely remove by unscrewing the other. They clean up pretty well and I would never tilt at 90 degrees as the internal oil seals are not that good so avoid this. Okay Idle stop setting, well I just ran full load with a 1850-2000w jaffle iron and then eco on with no load and just wound up to touching the auto throttle. If anyone knows the procedure than will appreciate this. Choke, I actually set at full load running so I have the choke fully open as the setting procedure static is not the best, as you want to ensure full open and not 10 degrees to go.
A waste of money – DO NOT BUY Full and Boar , I repeat DO NOT BUY any of the Full and Boar Inverter Generators from Bunnings! Your are better off paying more and getting a decent brand. The priming bulb on mine cracked and leaked. I contacted Bunnings and I was told the supplier does not have these spare parts, no priming bulb. They will sell you a battery if that is all you need but if it's something else that breaks you're on your own. Not happy Bunnings!!!!!
it ok – 3 stars review , nothing but troubble , no service manuals , no contact phone number for fullboar , not happy , if anyone can help , please let ne know , does anyone have a service manual? Show details

4 years old, works every time – Bought one for my mate 4 years ago after Cyclone Maria and one for myself not long after. I start it every 4 to 6 weeks but there are a few rules to follow. The sticker on them says RON91 petrol, do not use anything lower than 95 octane, it gums up the emulsion tube, and always turn the fuel tap off and let them run out of fuel(without anything… Read more
connected) so no fuel sits in the fuel bowl. Using an ethanol blend fuel will damage the primer button. When you start them after running out of fuel, you'll need 15 to 20 presses on the primer button, it needs fuel in it and should get a bit of firmness after 15 or so presses. If you don't start it regularly, the battery will go flat , starting it by hand and running it for half an hour will charge the battery up, can also charge the battery with a normal 12 volt car battery charger. Jaycar sells replacement batteries if you need one. Generator Guru sells parts for these generators https://www.generatorguru.com/fbt3100/
Can't fault this generator if looked after. Has all the features anyone would want, remote start is so handy when you've lost power and have shut it down for the night, can start it from bed, but don't leave the remote switch on if put in storage, it will flatten the battery. The battery charging feature is very handy, but it isn't regulated so don't leave a battery charging on it for too long. Some car battery chargers won't work if the voltage is below a certain level, but the battery charger on this generator will get a battery charge up high enough for a normal car battery charger to start working. I use this generator to power my home when we lose power. Runs a deep freeze, bar fridge, 240 litre fridge/freezer, lights, TV and 2 laptops. I also use it as a backup when camping in a campervan, will recharge my auxillary battery (using a normal 12 volt battery charger plugged in) if overcast and my solar panels isn't producing enough power. It charges my campervan battery if we've used the stereo/interior lights too much over night as well as phones/tablets from the usb port. Great honda clone generator, for the fraction of the price of a Honda, and ever reliable if a few simple rules are followed. The video below is of a different brand, but the same Lifan motor. Shows how to service, clean the carburetor and remove the battery.

"OK" for 1.5 years, then Failed Big Time – Bought, then started it up every month and ran for 10-15 minutes each time. After 6 mths the battery failed to start it anymore, so I had to use the pull cord. Got progressively more difficult to start (the battery never got charged beyond a whirrr, grunt, stop noise!!!) over the next year. Now it absolutely refuses to start. Tried hourly for 10… Read more

This is great, can't do within it now – Bought it to run caravan, best value anywhere, have ran two caravans of it, but no jug lol. Yes had fuel value in petrol cap did break, but still running strong, have to change oil every 8 hrs or so. Spark plug change – Does any one know where the spark plug is located on these ? I bought one but it has now stopped working and sounds like its not getting any spark.Even if i could buy another one of these i probably wouldnt .this is the second one ive ahd and had to get the last one replaced.Cheers Show details
Motor runs well – Purchased generator from Bunnings approx 2 1/2 years ago (only a 12 month warranty) and only used twice on camping trips (both 5 days duration). Whilst the motor starts first pull, it will only generate 100 volts of power. Auto electrican advises generator buggered and not repairable due to the lack of parts Show details
Simply a piece of junk – After about 12 hours of operation the fuel valve fell out, broken in pieces. Gut it repaired with a spare part from Bunnings. Another 20 hours it was running well and without any problems. Last week, after a total of about 35 hours the revs suddenly went up to maximum - no power any more on the outlets. Gave the thing to our local repairer and he… Read more
diagnosed the the step-motor at the carburettor war broken. I immediately went to the nearest Bunnings store, they called their spare-parts department. Neither the step-motor nor the complete carburettor assembly are available - and they won't get any parts for this generator any more.
What a disappointment!
2200 full boar failure – The gen failed to start following its last run during an outage. It has been used caravaning and run home air, lighting TV etc etc. Electricians have failed to find an issue as others experienced with these devices and all we can get is a bit of sputtering, slight back firing even with a new plug, any ideas anyone?? Disappointing – Worked great for about 18months, didn't use it for a month, started it up the other day and it now runs at full throttle and doesn't produce power. Would not recommend it if you want something you can depend on for more than a year.
unbelievable – Can't believe that no one will touch this generator to repair it. Told to contact Bunnings as they are the sole supplier of this product. A Bunnings salesman said that no one will repair this generator, and that if it is out of warranty you need to through it away. I paid $700 odd to purchase this rubbish and now I am just out of warranty, I have to through it out Show details

Good but short lived – This was a good little generator while it lasted, but has died after 18 months of occasions use (about two days per month). So if you are planning to use a lot maybe consider one with a 2 year warranty. The generator was good and I like the accessories such as the USB charging port and battery charging facilities which do not come on other similary priced generators. Show details
Good Generator - Check the air filter often! – I purchased a Big Boar generator about 6 minths ago for running my tyre warmers at the race track and so far it has been reliable. Only issue I have had is failure of the remote control starter but this was easily fixed with a new module. To replace the remote control module I had to remove the covers and gave the generator a check over at the… Read more
same time. Some of the low voltage wiring wasn't insulated as well as it could be so I fixed this by adding some extra insulation where needed to avoid insulation rubbing against the chasis while the unit is running. The one area of concener is the design of the air filter hosuing. In my unit the air filter was too short to completely cover the air box so some unfiltered air would have made it into the engine and the filter itself was very course and would not stop fine particles. I have replaced the filter with a better quality fiter made for a lawn mower so all should be fine though. Something worth checking if you own one of these generators.
I was very very surprised – The recent Adelaide power cuts and the loss of two freezers full of food (again) caused me to think seriously about getting a back up generator. From a novices point of view I looked at what was available and quickly realised that to protect electronics and for all practical domestic purposes an inverter generator is essential. I checked on… Read more
Product Review and other sites and found that some of the branded inverter generators had significant reliability issues and short life spans. The Full Boar though had positive reviews but finding information about who makes it, where it is made, who is the importer etc etc was a mystery. It appears and I am willing to be corrected that Full Boar is a Bunnings own Brand. Ozito imports Full Boar from China. Ozito sells exclusively to Bunnings. Einhell of Hamburg bought Ozito in 2013. I wanted the FBT 3300 Full Boar which was 3.3Kv but was told by Bunnings that it was unavailable as it was "quarantined" for some reason, maybe reliiability. So I opted for the FBT3100 2.2KV for $699 and paid a $500 deposit. I figured that for an occasional use it would do the job and it was cheap enough to be disposable. It took 3 weeks to arrive in store. I felt that this could be an expensive gamble but figured that others had paid very much more for big brands and still suffered total failures. It arrived, neatly packaged and I was surprised to find a decent set of tools, spare spark plug, calibrated oil bottle, 12 v cable, usb adaptor and a good handbook, full of warnings and hints. I read it carefully and followed set up instructions including connecting the pre charged ***battery! I filled with petrol and primed it with the bulb and started it. It chugged smoothly into life and stopped after 10 seconds. Dead! I got that horrible cold feeling that you get when sold an expensive dud. I retried many times to no avail. So, almost resigned to taking it back I went through the startup checklist and found that I had turned the petrol OFF instead of ON. It was already ON when I unpacked it. So feeling a right idiot I turned it on and it started immediately and ran smoothly. Since then I have tested it under loads and it is very good. I ran a shop vac and twin halogen worklights without fuss, it just throttled up and worked smoothly. Right now, after some hours of playing with the generator to see what it can do I am confident. It is as noisy as one would expect from a generator, about the same as a lawnmower. Criticism. It has a convenient trolley handle but the wheels are not only very small but can only be used on a very hard surface. The legs under the generator when the generator is dragged along, dig into the surface. If the wheels were maybe 2cm bigger there would be no problem. *** the Battery. One day the sealed lead acid battery is going to need replacing or recharging. Strictly speaking the battery is only needed for switch or remote starting. But there is no instruction on how to recharge or replace the battery. I presume that it means a dismantling of the case. Given that the battery is Chinese and probably of barely adequate quality the issue needs to be addressed. Worth buying? As a standby emergency generator? At the moment I would say Certainly, Yes.
May 23rd 2019 Update: Full Boar, a waste of money
I gave a very detailed and positive review on the FBT 3100 about 2 months after i first purchased it. Yes it was good. I have regularly started and run it to charge the battery, changed oil and kept it under cover and clean. I always ran it dry to stop carburettor gumming. Now, it runs for 15 seconds or so and stops. It will not idle smoothly and switching between eco and normal makes no difference. It stops. New fuel, new plug, clean filter, clean carby. No change. The only way to keep it running is to manually hold the white plastic lever assembly on top of the carby hard to the right but that means continuous full revs. The vacuum advance mechanism, the silver rod thing connected with a short cable does move but seems a bit odd. I cannot work out what is wrong. Can any one help please? Right now, its value as a generator is about zero. It is effectively junk and a warning to buy quality products and reliable service. But i would like to fix if possible. Help!
no problems – had it for 12 months and had a good workout with running the caravan air con and coffee machine when free camping in the bush. great value for money and totally reccomend it. It's also a good feeling that we have a reliable generator in times of power outages etc. Show details

Solid generator so far – Purchased this primarily for home emergency use. My main criteria was it must be powerful enough to run the household refrigerator plus some table lamps in a power blackout. for two years. Based on that I bought this one.
This version has the same mechanical and electrical specs and appears on close inspection to be the same machine as the Jaycar model but with some improvements to the power panel and addition of wheels and a handle. The key switch on the Full Boar is much heavier duty now (and is not the same as the photo on the box btw), plus it now has two 12V charging outlets and a USB outlet.
I load tested the Full Boar unit, and it does deliver over 2kW. I used a 2.2kW rated water kettle (partly filled only) and a house hold plug-in watt meter to measure the power demand, it hit 2100W on the meter and did not trip out the generator.
Also measured the output voltage at light and moderate loads and its very stable and within a few volts of 240V AC (used a Fluke 79 multimeter). Economy mode works great, and throttle response when put under heavy loads is fast. Remote start/stop keys work fine, range is at least 15m (will start from the far side of my house), the remote key needs two quick presses to make it start. A tip there, never leave the remote starting switch on the unit active for more than a couple of days if NOT using it, it will drain the starter battery eventually.
This generator is heavy, listed at 28kg and that's dry (no fuel). I measured mine at 37kg on luggage scales when fully fuelled up. If you have a bad back or don't have a friend around to lift this out of a car you may want a lighter generator. It does have small trolley wheels and a pull out handle, so if stored in a shed it can be just dragged outside.
I've tested the generator with a 1500W kettle a few times now, and it's all good (a 2.2kW kettle is not something I'd use on it again apart from a stress test).
There are a bunch of very similar looking units on the market, but on close inspection this one is not quite the same as the rest (apart from the MG4502).
PS. Don't forget to buy some 15W-40 oil for it if you purchase one, it does not come with oil.
