Hose alignment connections centre of reel leaking and do not tighten sufficiently, appears to bottom out on threaded capping

Reliable and Sturdy – I recently purchased the Gardena hose reel, and I must say I'm quite pleased with its performance. The reel comes with all the necessary installation accessories and mounting hardware, making the setup process straightforward. However, the hose guide included in the package is a bit bulky and comes in a dark navy color, which may not suit everyone's taste. In my case, I ended up purchasing a hose guide from another company that matched my brickwork better.
One thing to note is that the product did not come with a short hose to connect the reel to the tap, which I saw in a picture on the website. This was a bit of a letdown, as I had to purchase a separate hose to use the reel.
Luck was on my side when I stumbled upon the Gardena Hose Reel at Bunnings. Although the box was badly damaged, it was the last one on the shelves, and the friendly staff at Bunnings gave me a discount.
During installation, I noticed that the reel mount requires three screws, while the guide needs four screws? This seemed a bit odd to me, given that the reel has to support a heavier load than the guide. That said, once mounted, the reel felt sturdy and well-constructed. I've been using the product for over three months now and have had no issues with it.
I installed the reel in a shady area, just in case the plastic deteriorates from exposure to UV over time. So far, the product has held up well, and I've had no reason to doubt its durability. Overall, despite the disappointment of not having a short hose included, I'm a happy customer and would recommend the Gardena hose reel to anyone looking for a reliable and easy-to-use solution for their gardening needs."

Typical Gardena quality – If you have wall space and the need for a hose reel, this is a great option that won't break the bank. As long as all screw points are fastened, this is a very solid unit that can still be easily lifted from its bracket if required. Comes with a corner bracket that allows deployment around corners, with all mounting fixtures (for brick and timber)
If using with a collapsible hose keep the pressure on until spooled - this allows trouble free use on the next deployment.

You need this if you buy high kink resistant hose – I see a lot of posts online about anti-kink hoses and people say they still kink and this is in fact true, we bought a 30m Gardena Flex host with 8/10 kink resistance, but out of the box I will say a brand new hose takes a while to iron the kinks outs (pun intended). First the hose guide tells you to fill with water and sit it in the sun for a few days but we had one of these already left from the old owner, why was it is much more easy to hang and move? Well I think it takes time to become kink resistant and a longer hose more chance it will.
We did not buy a retractable unit one as we have before and they get jammed or the internals fail, I just wanted a hose I can hang up, but soon found out trying to use this 8/10 kink resistant hose was a nightmare to hang up or get out to use. You could not hang it properly without it trying to twist, it was heavy, and unless it was in sun all day, it was kinking. Looking at hose and way it was twisting, I really felt it was as issue of not kinking due to it being a bad hose, but more so he hose was twisting itself and thus would create a loop and then it would kink, its own weight was not helping.
Thus comes to the host reel. We bought this hose reel and installed it about 30 mins (less if i didn't need to fix the fence it was on) and done. The hose is fantastic now to unwind and wind back up. Comes off the reel smoothly and with a little guidance by hand as you wind, you can wind it up with ease.
Pros: -Easy to assemble -easy to fit to wall -easy to wind -can be taken off the wall if needed and moved to another tap or area, provided you buy an additional bracket -has a wall corner guide that will be useful to get around corners of a house -5 year guarantee -price is not bad
Cons: -does not come with a small length of hose to connect to the tap, you need to cut some off your hose and then get 2 more hose adapters to connect it. They do sell a GARDENA 1.5m Tap To Reel Connection Set but no mention of this on box or in guide or even website -instructions may be too basic for some -all plastics so interesting how they will last

I found a quick fix for this problem, I removed the threaded cap and placed it down on a flat piece of 120 sandpaper and carefully sanded about 1 mm of the cap length which when refitted pulled the fitting tighter onto its base which stopped the looseness and the leak.
