Garmin Forerunner 310XT

Absent customer support, poor data transfer and difficult satellite pickup – In short: Too many problems, and none of them have been addressed. It would be worth looking for better products out there! Here are the main issues: - DATA TRANFER This is supposed to happen automatically. Lucky if it works about half the time. The rest of the time I have to spend manually overriding it, which takes nearly as long as the actual workout.
- GPS SIGNAL
It sometimes does not pick up the satellites, or does so very late (which is unhelpful if it only starts measuring halfway through a run). This results in: No length of run, no time, no speed recorded.
- WEBSITE
Garmin Connect website crashes nearly every 10 seconds when using Safari as a browser. I actually had to download another browser to make this work!
- POOR/ABSENT CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Incredibly absent! I have emailed them 3 times for the above issues - 4 months, 6 weeks and 4 weeks ago. Automated emails are sent out that the question has been received, but no answers so far! Unbelievable disrespect for their customers!
It is really really big – I bought this last year as part of set that came with a heart rate monitoring (HRM) chest strap where I have been using during most of my cardiovascular training whether in the gym or on my various cycling bikes. This watch is very very big and bulky but robust and informative of the information you need....But, it has its downsides; apart from being very very big; it takes a while to pair it up to a cadence or other accessory with this; updates and downloading your telemetry on and off the watch is cumbersome; the 64-bit support is useless even though it says it is compatible; the battery life is almost useless, therefore you would need to use this sparingly. And when you are not using it, you should turn it off and recharge it if necessary. Charging it takes a few hours also.
For the amount of money you are spending on something like this, this is competitively priced and is compatible with a great deal of accessories and equipment that use wireless connectivity.
Every time I have used it outdoors; the GPS never fails to keep up despite the changing terrain. However, it does detect whether you are indoors or outdoors, which means if you are indoors, it will eventually ask you a question to proof its statement. If you say yes, it will disable the GPS search mode and result in using less battery life. Otherwise, if you had said no; it would continue to search for GPS satellites until you were outdoors to pick them up in space.
The other advantage to this Garmin series when compared to some of its other range as well as the competition, is that it is waterproof up to a certain depth which makes it very ideal outdoors.
