Very happy with the Gentrax generator. Started easily and powered our caravan air conditioner while camping on the Murray. Not too noisy. Even used it at home when the power went out. Show details ·  1

Have not yet used the generator – We were planning to buy a 3.5 generator as recommended by yourselves. We checked with the maker of our M/h air conditioning who recommended that a 2.5 would start and run our a/c. Show details ·  1

Dirt and Dust – One issue I forgot in my previous review. DO NOT POSITION ON LOSE DUSTY GROUND. There are vents in the bottom of the unit that allow dust to be sucked in.p Show details ·  1

Gentrax 2kva generator – Well after upgrading my caravan with 440 Ah of agm batteries, 240 Watts of solar panels, a Victron 30 Amp smart charger, Victron 500 Amp current bridge and a Victron 75/15 MPPT smart solar controller . The best part of the Victron management is that all three pieces are bluetoothed to my phone. This means that i now no longer have to measure… Read more ·  2

voltages or currents with the new set up, everything is now on the phone. Now i have power to burn and as we love to free camp, power is a concern as we also have 2 x 40 Ltr 12 Volt compressor fridges, that and a chinese diesel heater. Let alone 12 Volt tv and satellite receiver having a good 12 Volt power supply is a concern. While the caravan now has 12 Volt power to burn, but what to do when we have inclement weather and little sunlight and it has happened that the batteries started to go down in Ah capacity. We found this out in on the long weekend in June 2021. If it had not been for one of our fellow campers that came to the rescue with his own gentrax generator and a 15 Amp smart charger. This saved the weekend and this at the time set me thinking of the above upgrade to our caravan.

I had over a number of weeks installed the charger ,current bridge and the final piece was the MPPT solar controller. But how to recharge the house batteries in the caravan ??? and while free camping and not tired to mains power ???

I came across on one of the trading sites in my area a Gentrax 2KVA generator, brand new, never been used and at a bargain price of $350.00. Sold, and on meeting with the seller the generator was as described, new and unused, the generator even still had the stickers on the fuel cap and pull cord that there was no oil in the motor. even opening the fuel filler cap , i could not smell petrol.

On returning home, i filled the generator with oil and petrol, primed the caraby and the generator started up first pull and settled down to a fast idle. Switching over to the economy mode saw the generator's idle drop down to a lower level.

Free camping a couple of weeks ago and it was my first try at running the caravan's 240 Volt from the generator. The generator was not bought for running the air con or the microwave, it was just bought for running the Victron 30 Amp smart charger, and this it does quietly and without fuss. Starts first or second pull. This is the first generator that i have owned and while i think i got a bargain i have no complaints and if anything i do have a complaint it is were to put the generator along with all of the other stuff one must have while camping. I have no alliance with Victron or Gentrax and only posted what i have done over the last couple of months

Does the job once I get it started – Very difficult to start 10/15 pulls. Once going it is Ok. Would not buy another one. Contacted Outbax and they responded immediately and made some suggestions to try. No result. Told to return unit for checking but can't be bothered My loss. Show details

suits purpose – Quick courier delivery. Initial comments are as with Alan S took several attempts to get fuel up initially but once that was done works well. Powers 2000w drop saw easily. Much quieter than previous older generator but still wouldn't want it running close during the night. Show details

Very good little unit – Took a while to get fuel up initially, but starts easy now, very good unit, should suit its intended purpose nicely, have not had an electrical load on it yet though Show details

Great little generator – This unit is a little heavier and noisier than I expected but perhaps Im getting older. It performs very well. Easy to start once you have it worked out. Would recommend happily. Show details

Excellent value for money – A well constructed portable generator. After filling the engine oil, petrol, and following the user guide for starting procedure, it fired up quickly. The engine is reasonably quiet - quieter than I had expected, so thats a bonus. Show details

Excellent machine it this price category – The generator performs well and the performance matches specification. I found it the quietest in this price bracket - still noisy though ;-), but if you want something "whisper quiet", spend about 4 times of its price for Honda or Yamaha... It is well put together and it is supplied with an instruction manual written in a good English. My only… Read more

gripe is the start feature. In temperatures around 20*C it takes 4-5 pulls to get it going, what is rather average. I didn't have chance to test it in colder weather. In total: very good value for money, hard to beat.

Very good value for money – I needed a 2.0 to 2.5 KW Generator for very occasional use in our Caravan. A Honda or Yamaha generator would be good, but not at the price they are! The Gentrax is ideal - well-made, good-looking and a quarter the price of the others. I was also impressed with Outbax Camping for their very quick response to my query to them. Good work! Show details

Excellent Service and Product – Bought a Gentrax 2.5kw Inverter, service was great with a quick delivery and an awesome produce. The generator itself is compact, light and runs quietly. I bought this to service my caravan and it will do the job perfectly. Show details

Good value for price – The Generator itself works well but have had issues with fuel leak in tap and oil leak from return line hose clamp. Have only used it twice for 4 hours. Haven't used a full tank of fuel yet which is pretty good. Will be using it more regularly in the future.  Show details

Great value for the price – Delivery in good time and as described. After oiling and fueling up it took about 20 pulls too fire up, probably due to no priming bulb. The choke lever is too short and difficult too use. Haven't used it under full load as yet only a few test runs too run it in. but once warmed up it starts within 2 or 3 pulls. 2 x 15amp outlets, Eco mode, 12 volt charger are good features to have. All in all very happy with my purchase so far.  Show details

Gentrax 2.5kw – Received my gen in good time, all as described. Fueled her up and pulled the cord. Off she went.. Havent used it for that long yet, all good so far. Got a few trips coming up and hopefully it keeps purring along. They say u get what u pay for, "hopefully this is not the case" as it was a really good price and im hoping it keeps on keeping on. Good for the money – I paid $425 for this generator including delivery. I actually makes the rated output. The coke is difficult to use and there is no fuel primer bulb so you need to pull it a few times after filling the fuel. It is quite loud under full load, however this is not that bad for the power it is generating. It is fuel efficient and weighs 30kg. The oil… Read more

filler is pretty fiddly as is changing the oil which needs to be done at 30 then 100 hours. It runs my jayco eagle no problems including the aircon. Happy with the purchase and would buy again if needed. Honda price for equivalent is $2500.
