Once started performs well.
I don't find that it starts that easily! I find that it takes many pulls of starter cord to get it to fire! Once started performs quite well and is fit for my usuage
Purchased in for $799.
Unit has only been started 3 times, up to 20 pulls seems excessive!
Thank you for sharing further information, Bernie. One possible reason why it takes more pulls to start the gen-set can be a spark plug issue. Please contact the seller whom you purchased the generator from to claim warranty coverage and assistance.

Hard to start, and leaks oil.
I have owned this unit for 3 years and sadly it's out of warranty and I have probably only used it for less than 20 hours all up ( not including the times I start it to make sure it still runs)
From the get-go this unit has been a really difficult to get started,
I have only ever ran it on premium fuel, when running the unit, I sit it on a piece of board so it's not sucking up dirt and other debris, and it leaves a nice oil stain on the board.
When running it does run quite well and is more than capable of running the whole caravan including the 3kw air-conditioning.
In the first year of owning it I had to have a small engine mechanic service it just so I could get it to start.

Hi Corey, apologies. We recommend contacting the seller of the unit for some form of assistance with the unit.
Thanks Raven,
I'm sure all I will get from the seller is that it's out of warranty,
I wouldn't expect any better service from manufacturer. ...
Hi Corey, we can look into the issue and communicate with the seller of the unit on how they can possibly further offer help and assistance even if the product is already out of warranty.
Happy purchase
purchased to use with camper trailer (air-con) and no problems at all. runs like ti did on start up, relatively quiet and no issues with keeping up with power demand.

Excellent product
Machine works well, starts easily, is quiet when running, and is not too heavy. Very happy with it. Very good value for money. I use it on the boat and at home during blackouts.
Thank you for the fantastic review, Roger L.

Great for the purchase price
We use it a lot up at our holiday spot to power most things such as jackhammer, hair drier and other various tools. It hasn't missed a beat. We love it. It would be nice if it was a bit quieter, but it's fine for what we paid. Good value for money.
Purchased for $700.

Heavy to move a round
Only used it once to try it out, hard to start but once it stared was fine. I wish it had wheels as it so heavy to move around. There is one with wheels but was not available at the time of purchase. My advice is if you want buy the same size, buy the one with wheels and a handle would be even better.

Value for money.
It is a heavy unit and also a bit fuel thirsty but runs our van without any issues. Have also purchased it for power outages at our house which gives us plenty of options because of its rating.

Very happy with performance and price.
For use on my property when I need remote electricity and to take in the caravan for the same reason. While it is heavy and not as quiet as the more expensive generators, it is great value for money.

Seems to be a decent genset.
Seems to be a decent genset. A little heavy but the price makes up for a little extra weight. It’s not something I use a lot but it works when I need it to.

Great Product
Great genni, it handles all of our needs for our Motorhome ( ie All 230V outlets, Microwave, Fridge and most importantly the Air Con ). It also starts easily first time. Our big test is still to come now that we can leave WA Safely!! when we head to the NT, Qld & SA starting next month.

Functions perfectly and the price was right.
I needed a slightly larger power source to run the air conditioner and the washing machine in my new caravan while away from the grid power. The Gentrax 3.5kw inverter is a beauty. It is not as quiet as my little 1kw from another manufacturer but it is quieter than the 2.8kw model from that same manufacturer. Pricewise the Gentrax is way better. Starts easily, and after hundreds of trouble free hours of running I found the ease of maintenance a big plus. The unit is reasonably compact, a smaller footprint than the 2.8kw unit I have and about th...
Read moree same weight as it. I am almost 76 years of age so it was imperative to get a generator that I could lift on an off the tray of my 4x4 truck by myself. All in all I am super pleased with it and have no hesitation in recommending it to others. In fact when I have used it in remote camp sites it has been the topic of conversations over the quiet operation and size.Thank you so much for the detailed and fantastic review, Fishinrockhound. Stay Safe always.

A great backup
Performed well as a backup when power was out. Was able to run tv as well as lighting for the house as long as the power drag didn’t exceed the 3.5 kw limit

Questions & Answers
Can I attach a 100ma solar panel to the 12vdc socket for trickle charging on 3.6kw gennie
Hi Geoff, our Gentrax generators purely run on petrol.
Not sure what you mean but my enquiry was to do with setting up a trickle charging solar panel to keep the battery alive during long periods of no use. I can do the same by attaching a pair of wired to the battery with an external socket. Thanks
Yes, our gennies can charge batteries via the DC 12V outlet.
Just a bit concerned about the recent question asked about plugging the generator into the 240v socket on the side of the van, that is the reason that I was looking to purchase a 3.5 kw gennie and you don't recommend it, how else can you run the air con and also charge your battery system if the sun doesn't shine
Hi Rod, apologies for a bit of the confusion there. Our gennie can start and run most caravan AC. It will depend on the AC's starting wattage draw and yes the gennie can be connected to the caravan's ...
Read moresystem provided you have the charger for the battery. Thanks for your quick response, I have the Enerdrive 200amp lithium set up with the 40amp charger so hence my confusion with your response to a previous post
The Gentrax is more then capable or running our caravan,
Ibis 2 AC, Suburban hot water heater and the battery charger all at the same time.
I have read that you recommend to plug straight to the unit you want to charge.
Why can't it be plugged into the external Caravan 240v inlet to charge the batteries if there is no sun for the fixed solar panel, just to charge the batteries. I have a charger plugged in and connected to the batteries for charging when I connect to 240v. The charger is a 22.5 amp charger.
Thank you in advance.
We recommend connecting the load directly to the gennie's outlet to avoid any friction with the Caravan's internal system although some customers are able to bypass said rule and run the caravan appli...

Features
- This generator is equipped with 2 x 240V outlets and 1x 12V outlet.
- Gentrax states that (depending on the individual wattages of each appliance) you can use this generator to charge your camping fridge, television, laptop, a small microwave, your mobile phone and camping lights. You just shouldn’t plug them all in simultaneously.
- Offers a max AC output of 3.5kW, which is the maximum power when starting the generator. The rated AC output, or running power, available is 3.0kW.
- Pure sine waves make the current of electricity steadier and safer for charging personal electronics like mobile phones and laptops, and other sensitive electronics.
- Powered by Unleaded 91 petrol, this Gentrax generator has a 5-litre fuel capacity and a 1-litre oil capacity.
- The running time for this generator is 8 hours in economy mode and 6 hours in full mode.
- Includes overload and surge protection as safety features. Overload protection will disconnect the power if the combined wattage of electronics exceeds the maximum load. A surge protector helps prevent electronic equipment from voltage spikes.
- Operates at a noise level of 57dB, which is marginally louder than the hum of a household refrigerator.
- This generator weighs 28 kg, a weight that’s made lighter by the fact that it uses an air-cooled engine, rather than one cooled by water.
- The brand carries all spare parts and offers ongoing tech support.
Here’s what reviewers thought
The consensus was that this generator offered quality performance at an affordable price. Reviewers were happy to note that this generator works well and reliably in power outages as a source of home back-up power. It was also used with satisfaction on camping trips, and also to power electric garden tools and farm equipment.
Some reviewers noted that there can be a few issues when starting with the pull cord - the generator doesn’t immediately start. However, it was also noted that once you learn the proper method to start up the generator, it quickly stops being an issue. Once it starts running, there are minimal issues.
Reviewers were also divided about the noise level that this Gentrax generator produced. Some people found it too noisy, while others found the noise level to be deliciously quiet.
