Does the trick
Starts strong, does it’s job and some with ease, can do long hours. Yet to fully test maximum capabilities I am thoroughly happy with performance so far though

This generator does the job of powering our caravan
This generator does the job of powering our caravan heater and air conditioner with ease. I have used it around our farm where power wasn't available and I am considering getting our fuse box to the house rewired so we can run our house when there are power outs.
Purchased in for $900.

Great value, reliable power supply
Purchased the Gentrax generator several months ago now and have used it on a few camping trips, Economical to run and easy to start - always fires on the second or third pull of the cord. Noise isn't overbearing either.
For the price you definitely should consider the Gentrax inverter!
Purchased in at Outbax for $740.
Works perfectly.
I found purchasing the Gentrax generator from Outbax was an easy experience. Shipping was very fast too.
The generator works fine and has plenty of power to run out caravan. When the engine is running the motor is fairly quiet too.

Great product proved invaluable
Very happy with this purchase, invaluable during power outages, plenty enough power and reliable. My only gripe is would be better to have some form of fuel gauge. Even so great product

Save You MONEY
Very little use it seemed like this cheap unit was a little freak and would prove the nay sayers wrong.
First faulted and stayed in fault.
Inverter board.
Replacement sent after 10 days with a you tube video,
fit it yourself. Cost me half as much for a rental as the cost of Gentrax.
Replaced board ran fine for 50 mins went into fault.
Continues to fault now after 10 mins, RUBBISH CHEAP AND TRUE IT IS NASTY.
They then wanted me to send it back and they would send me a (good ad new Replacement )
Don't bother with Outbax or their products.
Purchased in for $468.
Overload error without any appliances
Update: I was contacted by Gentrax, apparently the manufacturer. And were super interested in helping and got the distributor Outbax from where I purchased the generator to arrange for the repair or replacement. It was a huge pain to arrange to send this gigantic machine back when I didn't have the original box available. After a few follow-ups, they confirmed that they needed more time to investigate the issue. Hence, offered a demo unit replacement against my unit. Since I needed it for a few tasks, I decided to accept the used demo unit as a
... Read more replacement. I accepted their offer on 5th July and got the unit delivered on 21st Jul 2023 (16 days for the delivery). They send out the new device via express shipping but may be not the replacement. So from the day I contacted them (15 May 2023) to when I received it (21 Jul 2023), it took roughly 2.5 months. But I finally have the generator. It has been a roller coaster journey. Do I now recommend this unit? As mentioned below, yes as long as you have some mechanical know-how. The machine itself is not an issue. Good luck. Original review: Overload error without any appliances connected and the generator shuts off. Contacted the support staff and was initially told that they would initiate a replacement. Now asking me to do some serious mechanical procedure tests before they can help with anything. If I knew how to follow that mechanical procedure, I would have fixed the generator myself. So frustrating. While the product looks promising, I am guessing I got unlucky and received a faulty product. Which isn't disappointing but the warranty procedure surely is. Do I recommend the product? Sure, as long as you know a few mechanical and technical bits. Otherwise, go with the other standard brands. If Outbax is reading this review, I was very clearly told in my initial chat that the only thing now missing was the input power capacity of the vacuum cleaner and if it's within the limit, you guys would proceed with the replacement/refund. I have the chat transcript.Purchased in at Outbax for $746.

Questions & Answers
I have a Gentrax 3.5KVA generator. Out is about 4 months old. It has run ok up until now. It worked yesterday running the caravan aircon and was shut down properly.
Today the gennie will only run for about 35 seconds and then it shuts down. I tried starting it without anything plugged in and the same thing happens. Tried it on eco mode... Same thing. It runs for 35 seconds and shuts down. It has fresh fuel in it.
Can anybody please advise what is wrong and how I can have it repaired please?
Thank you for sharing your enquiry, Brian. Sorry to hear about the generator starting and stopping. It sounds like everything on the spark side should be OK. Did you notice if the overlight lamp lit up before it shuts down?
Below I have listed some items that can be checked for troubleshooting:
1. Oil and fuel are the correct grades required.
2. Ensure all servicing has been completed, as instructed in the user manual.
3. Ensure the fuel hoses are connected snugly and not leaking, kinked or broken.
4. All filters are clean.
5. Ensure fuel cap valve is not blocked, try unscrewing the cap loose while running to temporarily allow more air in.
6. If possible, the carburettor to be checked by a technician.
Let me know if you were able to try any of these troubleshooting steps and if any had a positive result. Thank you.
I’ve had my 3.5kw gentrax for about 3yrs it only runs a small toy-hauler aircon, small fridge and 1700kw kettle. Have to turn off A/C for kettle no big issue all running fine. Now when I use the kettle and it’s finished boiling genset goes in the very high rpm then shuts down
I’ve clean air filter and carbirator. Just about to change oil. Why would this just start to happen?
Found the issue. Butterfly valve shaft fuel side was not rotating smoothly. Pulled apart used 2500 wet n dry on shaft till smooth rotation. (Caution when pulling apart and take note of spring location)
Ran genset with kettle goes back to low idle
Thank you, Dave. Your input is appreciated and important for future customer reference in case they encounter the same issue. Let us know if you will ever need any assistance with the unit. Stay Safe.

Features
- This generator is equipped with 2 x 240V outlets and 1x 12V outlet.
- Gentrax states that (depending on the individual wattages of each appliance) you can use this generator to charge your camping fridge, television, laptop, a small microwave, your mobile phone and camping lights. You just shouldn’t plug them all in simultaneously.
- Offers a max AC output of 3.5kW, which is the maximum power when starting the generator. The rated AC output, or running power, available is 3.0kW.
- Pure sine waves make the current of electricity steadier and safer for charging personal electronics like mobile phones and laptops, and other sensitive electronics.
- Powered by Unleaded 91 petrol, this Gentrax generator has a 5-litre fuel capacity and a 1-litre oil capacity.
- The running time for this generator is 8 hours in economy mode and 6 hours in full mode.
- Includes overload and surge protection as safety features. Overload protection will disconnect the power if the combined wattage of electronics exceeds the maximum load. A surge protector helps prevent electronic equipment from voltage spikes.
- Operates at a noise level of 57dB, which is marginally louder than the hum of a household refrigerator.
- This generator weighs 28 kg, a weight that’s made lighter by the fact that it uses an air-cooled engine, rather than one cooled by water.
- The brand carries all spare parts and offers ongoing tech support.
Here’s what reviewers thought
The consensus was that this generator offered quality performance at an affordable price. Reviewers were happy to note that this generator works well and reliably in power outages as a source of home back-up power. It was also used with satisfaction on camping trips, and also to power electric garden tools and farm equipment.
Some reviewers noted that there can be a few issues when starting with the pull cord - the generator doesn’t immediately start. However, it was also noted that once you learn the proper method to start up the generator, it quickly stops being an issue. Once it starts running, there are minimal issues.
Reviewers were also divided about the noise level that this Gentrax generator produced. Some people found it too noisy, while others found the noise level to be deliciously quiet.
