GME TX6160 – I have a TX6150 and needed a 2nd radio - I purchased a TX6160 and it is a noticeable improvement. 1. Scan speed is much quicker 2. Changing channels is quicker 3. Nice addition of display back light option on receive signal 4. Subtle features / changes I wish I could upgrade on the 6150 - especially like the Battery Percentage on Power on! 5. Led torch light is convenient- but perhaps not a replacement to a real torch.
As you would expect - the radio is robust and high grade - I am often out on a 4WD track and I want a robust radio to handle the conditions on the track - this radio will last a life time!
The battery life on the TX6150 is amazing - and the TX6160 has a higher capacity - it is designed to conserve battery life and I expect the TX6160 will be better.

Good so far….but…… – Bought a twin pack of this item not long back, and they have not yet had the chance to withstand the test of time. So far so good, quality seems fine, performing as expected….but I made the purchase largely based on research that led me to believe GME UHF radios to be Australian made product. I think it important to try to support Australian industry where possible. Bit disappointed then to find “Made in China” stickers on both the radios and batteries. While a purchase from an Australian owned business undoubtedly supports an Australian company, wherever the item is made, it is hardly supporting Australian based industry, and Australian workers, in the way an Australian made product does. I would have been much happier had it been made clear where this product was made before purchase, rather than after.

Great UHF Handheld Radio – I work in traffic control & can work in all types of weather conditions so having a good quality, hard-wearing, excellent sound clarity, long battery life reliable uhf radio is an absolute must & so far the GME TX6160 has done exactly that & never once let me down. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is for me personally it loses half a star for volume as i do think it could be a bit more louder as I have heard other radio brands with louder volumes. The gme uhf radio can at times be a little hard to hear especially when on a large site with lots of machinery in use nearby or on a heavy trafficked freeway with a profiler being used so louder volume would be better & the other half of star that it loses is the price is a bit much especially the accessories to go with it. It would be nice if at the very least the accessories were cheaper like just the mic on its own was nearly half the price of radio itself & the radio I happened to get 10% discount off & yet it was still quite pricey but anyway these are the only 2 very minor meagre issues that I could say that I can think of & they are my own personal opinions which other individuals may disagree with.
