Hi there, thanks for the review and taking the time to let others know of your experience with the product. All the best with your future use. Oricom.
I bought the DTX4200 because of the easy press and dial controls on the hand piece .
I hate having to keep press a tiny button for volume for channel selection and so easy dialing the numbers or volume quickly and easy with my thumb no looking. After about 10months have had issue with the lead coming apart , but one phone call and a new one is being sent straight out, awesome after service .

Speaker not loud enough
We got the dtx4200 because of the 2 channel option and we love it. The bit that sucks is the speaker isn't loud enough, we really have to be holding the mic to hear what's being said.

This is great
Works as advertised, very happy with unit. Easy to install and operate, great for travelling with a group of caravanners, easy to communicate. Dual channels are great, aerial was easy to install.

Do not buy a DTX4200!
This is a crap UHF. The volume that it transmits to other UHF's is appalling and extremely "muffled". The volume of the speaker in the hand held microphone is too quiet for a 79 series Landcruiser, I've had to install an external speaker. Oricom were no help when I emailed them, they said to "reset" it or some crap.
I've gone ahead and purchased another 2nd hand UHF that works way better than this unit. I'll either sell this DTX4200 onto SOME other poor sod or bin it. I'd never buy another Oricom again. Stick to GME, and no problems.

Great piece of kit
Real clever design, all functions on the mic and at the touch of a button. Great for use in convoy and those long trips, being able to swap from local channel on the go with the lads and then monitor and speak with traffic ahead.

Great Dual Receive feature but outsmart by a premium handheld.
The only reason to buy this fixed mount radio is its ability to listen in dual channels.
In every other areas, a premium 5w handheld radio would outsmart this premium DTX4200.
With the right accessories, a premium 5w handheld, such as Oricom ULTRA550, would beat this beast in the ff:
-can be in-car use, as well as handheld on the go
-audio scrambler
-can use headset/earpiece mic
-triple watch
Oricom warranty is excellent. They've shipped me a new replacement when my newly purchased one was in trouble. ...
Read more One would expect the squelch tail suppression feature would work seemlessly with other Oricom Uhf handhelds, but unfortunately, it does not work when paired with their non-premium handhelds such as Oricom 2w UHF2295 -- which is quite annoying. Ironically, handheld-to-handheld radios (UHF2295) squelch tail suppression just works magically. Apart from its capability of dual recieve, my expectations fell short. I was expecting it would have the super-set of features and more capable than a premium handheld. Now that handhelds has triple watch feature, there is very little reason to go with this fixed mount radio. Further, it draws 25mA of standby current (off). Something to think about when attaching to an always-on power.Purchased in at Oricom for $382.

Great UHF 4200
Takes a while to work out functions. Instructions in the manual supplied need to explain functions and how to use in better details. Very important for first time users. Great unit.

Not the best known- but the best.
This is a great unit: Very easy to install even for a non-technical (lazy?) person like me, and the instructions were specific, accurate and actually worked. All the controls are on the handset so none of the usual issues trying to make something fit and ruining the dash; and the main unit doesn't get in the way of knees (this is an important benefit).
After just a couple of uses the controls became automatic. Squelch adjusted easily and effectively and the audio quality was truly clear - noticeably better than another high-profile brand I had ...

Good Product
When hand piece plugged in did not work, Turns out after fault finding that the plug on the hand piece does not make tight contact on the unit even after the finger tightening process. I would appreciate Oricoms agent in Darwin to take a look if one is available.

Why is my uhf stuck on 12 s and I’m not able to reset?

I bought a 4200x recently. Can anyone help how can I install a dash plug point(like RJ45 or similar) to connect handset directly to dash.
Maybe use the "extension" lead to a point behind your dash or one of the pop out plugs and fit that end to there then connect the hand piece to that spot ♂️
Thanks for Ur answer. But this particular model has different type of plug which connect to the main unit. Extension cable not suitable for 4200x models.

Whats the difference between the dtx4200 and 395dr
Hi Martin, the DTX4200X is the flagship model with all of the topend features like Diecast metal chassis, larger ergonomic mic, 96 backlit colours, and IP rating. The UHF350DR is still Dual Receive but without the features listed above. Oricom
