I started using this washing machine in March 2023, I’ve been very happy with how clean my clothes have been and how quiet the machine is until today. It has now broken down unable to spin dry the load. I am very disappointed that after 2.5 years the machine has now needed repairs. My Simpson of 18years had never needed repairs I only replaced it because I renovated my laundry.

Purchased in at Appliances Online for $899.43.

Well I have to take back everything I said, had a repair man come out and in 5 minutes he had found the metal tip used on men’s shorts, had come off and lodged in the filter blades. So I’m back to being happy with my washing machine and would recommend Haier.

I love Haier front loader! My clothes come out super clean, and no crinkles but even better my washing machine also comes out of a full cycle, clean!

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $699.

Overall a great machine, with more pros than cons – Well I've been living with the Haier HWF90AN1 for several weeks and here's what I think. It's a great entry level washing machine that cleans clothes well, is easy to use, has enough features for it's intended buyer, it has some great things, like a light, that many higher end brands don't even bother to include. I did notice a very slight increase in energy usage over the period, but it wasn't significant to make me not recommend it right away. Water usage seems to be great and no difference between this machine and my old one.

Things like the stop and add function are great and allow you to add in that last minute t shirt or sock that you may have forgotten three minutes prior when starting one of its multitude of cycles.

It spins at a respectable 1400 rpm and includes things like the light (more on that later), Eco programs (which is a quite fast cycle compared to the rest, minus the fastest spin speed oddly), and fits a decent amount of items for being 9kgs.

The drum does seem a tad shallow, but it may just be me. I feel for being 9kgs it would have been a bit larger and hold a tad more.

The light only comes on at the end or beginning of cycles it seems and then turns off, perhaps it's a one off software glitch or this may be it's intended programming.

Overall the pros are there for the price.

The downsides are it has a slight whine when on intermediate spin or full spin. Something I think is quite unacceptable in this level of machine. For a brand aspiring to play in the big leagues, it's a noticeable and flawed issue. The light as mentioned before, the smallish capacity of the drum size in real world usage, and I couldn't get the Wifi to work. Perhaps it wasn't even on this model but it stumped me.

The cons are much shorter than the pros, which is a good sign. I think that it will a decently long lasting product, that does what it needs to do; wash and clean your clothes effectively. Things came out smelling fresh and clean on all cycles and I expect that it will continue to be a great addition going forward. Must add in that the brand has really shown that they can really make a decent mid range product and include features that aren't included on machines three times it's price.

Would I spend my own money on it? That depends. The whine at speed is something that is a big no on my books, only being honest. I prefer whisper quiet machines, and while it is on normal cycles. The spin noise is a bit off putting. So if I were in the market and could get one on sale at a decent price, I'd probably buy one. But I wouldn't pay full price for it.

Great machine with one major downfall, and that's a pass overall for me. Meaning a solid 4 out of 5!

Front Loader Convert – **Updated 29/3/25** After 3.5 years, I have had to replace the washer. At the 2-year mark, it started leaking from the bottom left and right holes under the machine. This was diagnosed as the dispenser unit requiring replacement. At the 1-year warranty mark for that work, the same leak reoccurred. Instead of battling the puddles of water, we're buying another washer. Haier/Fisher & Paykel have been very easy to deal with. I'm hoping my machine was simply an outlier.

**Original** I wash every day and am very sensitive to water and energy usage. I value my own time so like to spend the minimum necessary to get a load of washing in, clean and out again.

I read through the instruction manual prior to use and to get the most of the machine, you need to. There are lots of options. The manual was easy to understand and follow excluding not being clear that you need to continue to press some buttons to toggle options.

Installation requires connection to a cold water tap only. Be aware that there is lots of movement in the waste pipe throughout a wash cycle. Ensure your pipe is adequately long and secured to stop it flipping out of the drain.

What’s good? - It does what it should – it cleans clothes (without leaving a detergent residue) in a timely fashion and with minimal energy/water usage. - It makes less machine noise than my top loader and is noticeably less noisy on my wooden floors (even without the floor buffer). - You can stop the cycle to add more garments. This is a brilliant feature and a huge step in overcoming a barrier to entry for top-loader users. - Eco mode really does reduce the time and does not diminish the wash quality. I ended up using this as standard. - UV protect is a unique and welcome addition although it is impossible to test whether this actually does anything. - It is able to spin at 1400 (although not in Eco mode). - It plays a happy, melodious tune to denote the end of the wash. - It has a light at the end of the cycle (although please see improvements, Haier).

What could be improved? - The capacity is average. It was adequate for my everyday use (queen bed sheets plus pillowcases plus ordinary laundry) but I was unable to fit a large mink blanket in. I was hoping a 9kg machine would be able to handle that alone. - The light should turn on when the door is open. It doesn’t stay on for very long at the end of the cycle and it is dark in there. - The instruction manual should include approximate times of the wash selections. - Most machines have a delay function so it is strange that this one doesn’t. Although the wifi connectivity can be used to manage this remotely. - You can save a ‘favourite’ but what it really means is overwriting an existing default program. Be aware, the instruction manual is incorrect – the two buttons need to be pressed before the cycle is started to enable the save. - Make the lint collector easy to get to.

Conclusion This is an excellent washing machine with good energy/water economy. It is nice looking and offers endless options. It has convinced me to stick with a front loader because of the improved quality of the wash and the comparable cycle run times. As another ambassador has suggested, do yourself a favour and buy the 10kg or larger to ensure you have enough space for a family’s needs.

Technology has moved on – Technology moves so fast, my wife and I are constantly amazed about all the features manufacturers pack into their products. Case in point, this Haier Washing machine. We've always had Miele and my wife was hesitant in switching, but it was quite old, and more importantly, only 6.5kg load, so here we are. The good bits: Apart from being able to program a whole lot of things, operating this thing is pretty straight forward. It washes well, runs pretty quietly and uses less water and electricity than the Miele, and that is saying something. Some clever engineer, also put a light inside the drum that comes on when you open the door after the cycle, so you don't miss anything and the machine plays a melody to alert you that it's ready. So that's helpful. And with a 9kg capacity, it still is not bigger than the Miele, but fits a lot more clothes. Negatives: We'll see re longevity and quality build, I guess. The LED lights and descriptions for each button are small. There's no 'Add Extra Water' program nor does it countdown the time til the end of the program whilst it's running. Other than that, so far, so good.
