after afew weeks of use the interior started to fade, now its been 6 months and its changed colour in places, our old kmart 800w seemed to cook around the same time as this 1100w also
Another of our Hisense appliances that failed very early. Our Microwave lasted 5 odd months before developing an electrical zapping sound issue when opening or closing the door which eventually ended up tripping our mains power safety switches. Prior to the electrical issue we did notice some discolouration, spots developing on the internal… Read more
coating of the unit.
Due to the risk of electrocution Hisense authorised it's replacement though with the assistance off the Good Guys we upgraded to an LG with 1000+, 5 star reviews.
Hisense microwave good review – Bought our new microwave, good product, 1100W is nice power, warms up my kiddo's milk bottle aptly, I like the range of auto reheat and auto cook settings. Great buy from the good guys! Show details
A Stainless Steel Microwave oven isn't really Stainless Steel – UPDATE: models with DSV, "dark stainless steel" is not a reference to the microwave exterior shell or interior microwave oven surfaces. It is only referring to a garnish strip on the glass door that is a glued on rectangle of stainless steel. TL:DR We thought we were buying a microwave oven with a stainless steel interior to replace our 24 year… Read more
old microwave oven that had a stainless steel interior, but when we got it home we were suspicious. There is zero stainless steel inside the oven.
WE WENT ONLINE TO MAKE A LAST MINUTE PURCHASE.... Our white microwave oven (Sharp carousel with convection) with stainless steel interior has started to annoy us. It is 24 years old and had one repair for the carousel motor which we paid for. The oven light has broken and we replaced it with an LED bulbs and that blew up, so we have been using it without a light. After a blackout we frequently get errors on the LED screen, red warning blinks and we have to turn it off and reset. Then the clock is wrong, too difficult to reset, so it stays wrong. Yesterday we found it difficult to read the LED because it was dim. Is there a setting to increase brightness (Mum says NO) so that means it is probably going to fail as soon as the Boxing Day sales are finished..
We had a look at a stainless steel microwave at Kmart. It looked OK. It was less than $200, nothing fancy, no convection mode, but we didn't ever use that on our existing microwave, so I suggested we just keep it simple and don't pay for bells and whistles we will never use.
Our Sharp Microwave had a capacity of 1 cubic foot, or 27 Litres and it was only 700 Watt.
We decided to compare Harvey Norman, Goodguys and JBhifi to the Kmart microwave.
We decided on the Hisense HMAS models. They are BLACK, and since our other benchtop appliances are also mostly black we decided to consider it. We looked at the 42 Litre, but that had slightly larger external dimensions to our existing oven and the pictures didn't seem to show it was stainless steel inside and information did not mention stainless steel. We ruled it out a d did a search with stainless steel, so top of the list was Hisense HMAS Black but it was 34 Litre and it listed Dark Stainless Steel as it's finish. The pictures show a black exterior, but the interior is a shiny grey, so that must be what they mean by DSV, dark stainless steel.
JBhifi only had the BMV black Matt version, but Goodguys had the Dark Stainless Steel for $20 cheaper, so we clicked it and paid for it online. Hooray for Boxing Day sales, we just made it.
We got it home, unboxed it and the interior definitely looks grey, like paint, but it must be stainless steel because the rest of it is black paint and black glass.
We double checked that we had the model that is DSV, which is dark stainless steel.
We are writing this review because we aren't convinced, so if you wanted a stainless steel surface inside your microwave oven, then you will be surprised that it just looks like dark grey paint nowadays.
