It was an alright tv whilst it lasted, picture quality was not amazing but it did the job. Bought new in 2017 and then died in about 2022 randomly. Took it to a repairer and he advised it needed a new panel, but parts were no longer available. Replaced it with a Sony TV. I expected to last it a little longer than 5 years. As a matter of… Read more

interest, I have a friend who purchased the exact same model as me a few months before I did and his is still alive, however the panel is showing pretty bad fade.

I have a Sony tv that was also purchased in new in 2017 that gets much more use than the Hisense did, now has about 35,000 hours clocked on the screen and still going strong.

The worst thing.v I have bought to date – I bought this hisence 65n7 back in 2018 and was basically promised it could do anything and everything (with a price tag of $3500, I believed it.) Now what I found out is it only has 2 of the streaming services apps you can download. Netflix and stan.. everything else has to be downloaded through an external hardrive such as Google Chrome or a set… Read more

top box.. Is this really classed as a smart t.v it's wifi module it horrible I have to reset the t.v everyday just so I will connect to the internet..( I also have a google home in my room that stays connected so I know it's the nasty design of the t.v.. What I don't understand is when I rang hisence I was told nothing can be done the new technology in the newer t.vs is not compatible with the older version.. don't get me wrong I wouldn't know the first thing about building a t.v.. what I do know is that the technology in t.vs is one of the fastest growing technologies we have going at the moment 2018 was only 4 years ago I can't be asked to throw away $3500 because you guys can't make the technology compatible.. this will be the last time I buy a hisence and will be doing a lot more research before buying a new t.v..

OK While it Lasted – On April 23 2018 I purchased an Hisense 50" 50N7 ULED TV and Hisense provided a three year warranty. A little over three and a half years later the television died. It developed fixed vertical lines and was useless. There are instructions on the net as to how to fix the TV...but you have to take it apart. And getting it repaired just isn't worth… Read more

the money.

Throughout the whole time we had the TV I have to say the operating system was flaky.

At first the fast forward would only work in ten seconds bursts. Hisense Australia was unhelpful with a firmware update. I scoured the net and found a firmware update in southern Africa and that fixed the problem.

Then there were the hard reboots that were needed from time to time because the television would become unresponsive. So you had to disconnect the power cord, wait 30 seconds and reconnect it and then the TV would reboot and everything would work again.

Configuring the television was an initial nightmare and it took one month and several pages of hand written settings which I then transcribed onto one of our computers. Next I needed a further print because I needed the involved settings near the TV. Why? Because from time to time I had to restore the TV to its factory settings and then reconfigure the TV.

All in all the three and half years were a mix of fine viewing and frustration which all ended in relief when the TV finally died. That's right, relief because the Hisense nightmare had finally come to an end.

Now here's the rub, I'm I.T. literate and I regularly throw code onto my computer and have been using computers since the late 1970s. When I used to use to use Windows back in the early 90s I would regularly type in code to reboot the system. Therefore this I.T. literate writer has to say that with a Hisense television you get what you pay for. Sure they're cheap to buy but the internal construction is cheap as well.

The thing is most TVs use LG screens and how the TV is constructed and the operating system installed has a huge bearing on your viewing pleasure or, viewing hell.

What happened to our television was that a wire probably came loose from from the circuit board and that gave us the fixed vertical lines. In other words the internal construction of our Hisense television was poor. Maybe that's why Hisense give three year warranties because the life expectancy of their product isn't much longer than that.

We've learnt our lesson and moved up the food chain. I looked at all the major brands and came to the conclusion that LG TVs are the best of the consumer level brands. You may choose otherwise and that's your choice. All I'm saying is that from bitter experience my advice is to steer away from the bottom end of the market and particularly Hisense. If you want a TV that is cheap then it will probably be cheap.

The more you pay brand wise, the better the construction.

Two final pieces of advice. Under Australian case law the projected life of many consumer goods is three years. Consumer (legislated) law provides one year of protection. If your television dies within three years get in contact with the manufacturer and then get the brushoff. Next you should contact a State consumer protection body and have a case mounted against them for the television to be fixed at their expense or have a replacement provided. A TV is not expected to die after one year and neither should a refrigerator, washing machine or a computer be in that situation either. In law we refer to this as "the projected life of a product". If you purchased a small portable radio then you're looking at one year of protection because that's the projected life of that particular product.

Why do I know all this? Because I've got a background in contract law and economics. Sweet talk is just sweet talk but common (case) law and legislation are all interlinked and they are a much more powerful tool that you can use for your own betterment and peace of mind.

My second piece of advice is to never ever pay extra for an extended warranty as per the preceding paragraph it's just not needed. Use the law, it's there to protect you. And don't buy a Hisense television! (I guess that's a third piece of advice.)

Upper class TV for the lower class price :D – FIRST THOUGHTS & UNBOXING: Loved the presentation of it, so easy to unpack. You need to have someone to help you a little bit. Just cut the straps and then you can lift the box straight off the base. Nothing is ever more satisfying than peeling those protective plastics off the trims :). THE GOOD: I'm super happy with this purchase. I've had… Read more

it for a few months now and I've enjoyed every moment of it. Admittedly I don't watch much free-to-air TV however it picked up all the channels the first time without any issue.

There's an ethernet connection at the back too... handy if your family are all on their phones downloading stuff while you're trying to stream a UHD movie, you can just plug that bad boy straight into the router.

The user interface is well thought out and easy to navigate. There are a number of sound and picture presets example: Game, Cinema, Dynamic and you can change each one to your preferred custom setting.

Each of your input channels can be renamed, for mine I have renamed them Xbox, Playstation, Microcade & TV. I thought that was cool.

At the back of the TV it features a few connectors... 2x USBs, 2x 60hz HDMI, 2x 30hz HDMI, a USB 3, Optical sound, Ethernet, TV Antenna, headphones 3.5mm jack, a common interface card slot, and your usual AV/Stereo components ( yellow, white, blue, green & 2x red)

GAMING:

I've used the playstation with it and it's fine with no noticeable lag. I have also connected my gaming PC to it and it works a charm, automatically changing to the best resolution where i do not have to strain my eyes to see the writing.

I recently purchased an Xbox One X (Enhanced) which has 4K and I must say it looks fantastic. I didn't think for the 1K price tag that this TV could look so good and yet here we are.

Blu-ray movies look really really good and I purchased a movie from Xbox store that was Ultra HD and it was so sharp and nice. 55 inch is probably the biggest size you'd want to go anything bigger will put strains on the graphic cards inside the consoles and you'll start to get lag.

SOUND: I was happy to see that the TV had an optical output which was handy, so now we play games, watch movies and TV all on the one sound bar. The base sound on the TV is quite loud and sufficient, however it is just standard sound and someone who has spent their entire life using external speakers and surround, it just won't do.

APPS: The TV also features a big 'YouTube' button and a 'NETFLIX' button. Just press either one and you're in! Super stoked with TVs having these options, no need to turn the console on to watch Netflix anymore.

There's also a 'MEDIA' button for all your different medias from your computer. You can watch videos straight from your drop box or video files from your computer.

'APPS' button where you can access the smaller media sites like STAN, TED, SBS on Demand, 4K now etc etc. I haven't tried any of the other apps though.

THE BAD:

It's stuffed up only once, I was watching netflix and when I tried to quit the show the screen kept going black, after a while, I pulled the TV out of the wall and plugged it back in and it was good again. I think it might have been Netflix that was causing the issue, maybe a memory cache or something.

CONCLUSION:

If you don't want to spend ridiculous $$$ on a TV...buy this... its 55 inch 60hz 4K resolution with Netflix, YouTube & other media ready apps... not to mention optical sound. You seriously can't beat that price for that size and quality.

10/10

Excellent affordable big screen TV – We just built a family room and needed another big screen TV but didn't want to pay a fortune. We already had a Hisense Series 7 65M7000UWG (65") in the Lounge and love it so much we wanted the same one but they're no longer made. Fortunately the 65N7 is the same unit with updated software OS and remote. I did a bit of research and the P7 was… Read more

also out but didn't get great reviews and was a lot more expensive.

So this review is pretty much the same as the 65M7000UWG but overall the N7 is an improvement.

Like most people I did a lot of research before buying this TV and I couldn't be happier with the decision.

Paid $1,450 at JB which is a great value for what you're getting.

Oncer again I toyed with the idea of buying a cheap TV (Bauhn or Sonic) at the $1,000 mark and fortunately thought better of it mostly because it was for the kids space and we wanted them to be happy they had a similar TV to the one they had been using but also because for $500 more you get a very good TV with all the latest features (quality up scaling and HDR etc.) and very good reviews compared to the more expensive big guns from Sony and Samsung.

The 65" screen is massive (you'll need a large lounge room for it) and has a very slim frame which is silver colored so it fades away when you mount the TV on the wall.

Picture quality is sensational and watching the AFL on 7HD was just superb. No issue with fast sport action, no artification and no motion blur. Blacks are really black (sure not as good as a $5,000 OLED but I'll get one of those next time).

I hate TV's that are slow to change channels and there's no issue with this one and all round the TV is very responsive. Only takes 5 seconds to power on which is alot quicker than the 65M7000UWG and changing inputs is instantaneous.

The remote has a button for NETFLIX and also for YouTube which is great but one thing to consider is that Hisense do not use an Android operating system on this series. The one used is called 'Opera' and doesn't have as much in terms of apps in its store but it now does have an app for Stan and SBS.

Set up and configuration of the TV was all very easy and I found the settings intuitive and easy to use.

Plenty of HDMI ports (4) and USB (2) and all the others you'd expect.

One thing to note is that for any TV with a screen size of 65" you need to be watching the HD free to air channels to get a decent picture (not just the SD ones). SD channels tend to look poor in terms of sharpness and resolution.

Finally this TV is big (the box is 6 feet long) and its heavy and slim line LED screens are fragile.

So bear that in mind when you buy a big TV.

It won't fit in a car and the retailer won't want you to lay it flat to transport it. JB have said to me with the last big TV that if I wanted to lay it flat they would need to take it out of the box and power it on to check that the screen was intact and working and then the warranty would be voided by laying it flat...

I ended up getting it delivered same day (they use private local guys that you just call up) for $70 and he checked it was OK when delivered too.

Also don't forget when you get it home you will need two strong people to get it in and put the stand on.

A good tv for the price – Bought the tv 3 years ago for $2,100. The tv looks nice, the picture quality is good, and apps like Netflix work well. The only major issue for us is Smart functionality wasn’t usable, so we needed to buy Chromecast. But seems to be a good quality tv for the price. Show details

Awesome TV for a great price – Crisp clear UHD 4k 65" TV at a good price point and with all the features, only thing lacking with this unit is the speaker which sits on the back of the TV but with a good soundbar you have the ultimate home entertainment experience.

Smart functions are perfect. Fast and user friendly compared to other brands. Show details

Update of my 2017 review – Further to the everyday usage a couple of years down the track. Issues faced from owning this TV. would randomly restart by itself and would constantly lose internet connection. So talking to repairers and they said it is a common problem, 2 failed Boards in TV and the replacements were not upgraded, so it would do it again. Still under extended warranty so I paid extra for a proper smart TV. Found myself hating this TV which although had a good picture was let down by the technology. My rule now is No Chinese crap Tv's. Great HD/4k, bad HDR and apps – Overall this is a pretty good TV. The silver finish looks classy and build quality is good. The image quality is really good if you stick to HD or 4K (more on HDR below). There are some downsides: - HDR looks terrible. This is not a proper HDR TV.
