Our new hitachi (2022 purchase) started leaking after a month or so as well. We are a long way from a service centre so I undid the screws on the rear silver metal 25 x 25 cm panel to have a look, then ran a quick load. The water was coming out in large quantities from above that removable panel, but the water connections at the washer itself were clearly not leaking. I tipped the washer up slightly and saw a black rubber concertina hose only three or so inches long hanging loose. Lifting the washing machine lid and feeling around the back of the tub found that the hose had come loose from the tub. A search around the bottom of the machine through that silver metal service plate located a small clip that had fallen off. Put it all back on and now no leaks. I don’t know if it’s a design issue or whether we were a bit rough installing it, but happy with the machine now.

You can add extra water by pushing the 'shower' button. The machine seems to work differently from all my previous machines. It doesn't fill all in one go. It fills a bit and washes then fills a bit more and so on.

Hi Brenda, there should have been a manual with your washer. You really have to read it. This machine, although it does wash well, is not user friendly. In the manual, it explains how to wash only, rinse only and spin only. It tells you how you can customise the wash cycle. Sorry, I can't give you any quick solutions. I just tried different things until I found what suits me best.

Hi Vicky, did you buy the machine? I just turn the taps off when the machine is not in use. I also only turn the taps on one and a quarter turns, not full on. Make sure that you attach the hoses securely. It can be tricky as they are recessed.

Hi again, not sure if you bought the machine or not but if you did and you are having issues with the hoses, Hitachi's warranty actually covers the hoses. If they are not working properly call them and they will replace them.

The key to using this machine is to estimate how much water you need first. If you need less than 60L use the P4 program and adjust the water level with the button. If more than 60 L use the P1 program The machine does not magically know how much water to put in unless you tell it how much.

This machine fills as it goes. It doesn't fill all at once. It fills a bit, washes a bit, adds a bit more water, washes a bit more and so it continues. It can be frustrating when you first use it

Hi again.could I have messed up the electronics on my machine if I have been adding more water to the washes.as I mentioned before,never looks like enough water!I know I won't be doing that again.Thanks for answering my question earlier.

I doubt that you would have messed up the electronics. I have added extra water at times and it still works fine.

I am looking to replace my own Hitachi washingmachine with the folding lid. Died yesterday after 22 years of perfect service. Been looking and nothing out there is a patch on its features. Really sad and disappointing!
