entertainment system is quite good, climate control works quite well. Good leather upholstry still looks good after 5 years, does not peel off or crack. Engine and transmission is quite good especially with Unleaded 98 petrol. Needs a little more power when using E10 though.

MALIBU/COMMODORE? – If I am not mistaken the Malibu is an Opel Insignia or Chevy Malibu. Its now the new Commodore. The reviews of that car are quite good. puzzling that a name change changes opinion. I bought a Malibu in 2105 , delightful , still have it , probably for a long time. Love the car – Comfortable, stylish and economic. I've had this car for over a year now and I have had no issues. The car drives really well and all the features work as advertised. Massively underated car – Huge boot, fuel economy of around 8L/100. Have found the seats to be very comfortabe, and i think it looks way better than a vanilla Camry. There are a few downsides, lack of rear legroom, no rear seat vents, and the engine could do with a bit more power. Still, 100% satisfied with the purchase, and it's a shame they were neither promoted when on sale, nor that they make them any more.  Show details

A car full of electrical problems – The electric engine management system continues to fail, I have had it back to Holden many times to reset the electronics. I am not happy and advise that no one buys this as a second hand car or you will face the same issues. It has been a total problem filled car.  Show details

Love this car – This is a beautiful medium size car. Very comfortable. Love the hidden storage behind the screen. Very cheap to run. The dash lights are an extra bit if glam which I love. Only thing lacking in my model is there is no navigation system. Quite expensive to get this added in. Current models have this included I believe. Large boot space. Can only fit 2 car seats in the back also. All in all, I love this car. Cant believe its not advertised more.  Show details

Perfect car if no kids – Fantastic car it's comfortable and nice and quiet to drive but no leg room in the back for the kids! Luxurious leather seats, my favourite function in the car is the seat warmers. Dashboard lights up blue and looks nice at night and not to bright. Nice looking car on the road.  Show details

Awesone car – Handles beautifully. Reliable. Cheap to run. Roomy as well and love the technolgy It's only slightly smaller than a commodore but a lot more economical. I don't know why holden don't advertise it more. Its such great value for money. The price was great for whats included. Highly recommend this car  Show details

Good but problem electronics – I've had the car for some 18 months now and done just over 150,000 km. I chose it over the Commodore, as I could get the CDX model for much less than a basic commodore. the car is turned off, which stops it from being able to be restarted. A mechanic from the RACV showed me how to 'reset' the car by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery, but it's something I shouldn't have to do.

Driving long distances can be a problem as well, as the seats are very uncomfortable, no matter how much you try to adjust them. The dual zone air-conditioning system seems to only have 2 settings - really hot, or really cold.

The motor though, hasn't missed a beat and runs as well now, as it did when new. The stock tyres did over 135,000 km before needing to be replaced which I thought was pretty good.

Best value new car I found – After driving many vehicles and types I came across the malibu by chance. I took it for a drive and was immediately impressed, the more I looked and compared it the better it became. Having owned one now for two month I am no less impressed. their othe small to medium sized cars. Sadly they have, however, I haven't driven or sat in the Holden version.

As to the driveability, it was nice to drive but the performance was a little lacklustre until you used the gear stick top manual change. Once the revs were up it went and had a rather nice engine note. Merging with freeway traffic required sudden acceleration resulting in very delayed kickdown, a sudden jolt and a screaming banshee of an engine.

I never checked what engine size or fuel type it was sadly. I would definitely go up range on the engine or go manual but you will work that gearbox with a smaller engine.

From one of the reviews in the Australian press I found out it was only 82mm shorter than the Commodore. Normally car designers make small cars feel like larger cars. With thealibu they seem to have mixed this up as I don't know what they did with the spare space. The Malibu feels like a much smaller car than the commodore. Solid build Poor performance
