Great car – Great car so far. Quite economical for a 7 seat 4wd, real world getting around 11L/100km running around town. Heaps of space and very comfortable for the family. Looking forward to trying it out off road. Show details
Blazeless trail – Not the vehicle for me at all, need a proper four wheel drive. Comfortable and quick but it’s not a regional vehicle, stick to the city and highways. Good luck if you have one, hope it serves your purposes. Show details
Average car ,Poor Customer support- broken hearted – I use this car every day. I bought a second hand 2017 LT with 70,000km on the clock from a large dealer. I mainly wanted a comfy tow vehicle, one with a reverse camera so I could hitch the trailer by myself. I took a few cars for a test drive. After reading many reviews and 6 months searching I decided on getting a Holden Trailblazer. (I was a… Read more
holden fan aswell). In general the car does what it is asked of it. Great fuel economy and lots of torque. A good workhouse, surprising lots of the leg room for the 3rd row. However; *If driving in 4wd for longer than 20mins, the gearbox gets hot and you can feel the heat off the centre console on your legs. *Plastic for the interior is softer than usual, easily scratched. *Long Drives lower back starts hurting (maybe not in LTZ) But this is what has undone me of truly falling in love with the car. It might be a minor issue for some people but for me I bought the car because this what I really wanted. A good tow car with a working reverse camera. The reverse camera only works about 50% of the time. I live 120km from the dealer I bought it from. Dealers service department is only open Monday- Friday. Hard for me to get time off work to take the car back and it is 240km round trip. *Rang within 2 weeks of purchase told someone would call me back. No one did. *TRIP 1 -I took it back to have it looked. They couldn't find a fault (camera worked fine). Told me to video it and bring it back *TRIP 2 - Took car back for service with video of fault. Still couldn't find fault (camera worked fine). Will try again next time *TRIP 3- Took car back, engine light and Reverse Camera. Told Manifold Slider was getting stuck and camera not faulting. Told to they would rebook with Holden Cairns as it was still under manufactures warranty. I asked to rebook at Innisfail as it was close to Work. Told me that they knew the cairns dealership and it would be deemed a warranty problem but if Innisfail decided anything else I would be up for the full cost of repairs. *Trip 4- Go to Innisfail Holden. Cannot access fault as there computer cable was not working. Need to rebook *Trip 5 - Back to Innisfail Holden, Computer light wasn't on anymore when I dropped vehicle off. They reset computer and said they could not find the reverse camera fault. Told they will only open workshop for government contracts because of Corona, any future issues I need to go back to cairns. *Trip 6- Service and reverse Camera. Still cannot Fault. Rebook in Cairns Holden *Trip 7 - Car now out of warranty but will look at for me. Still cannot find Fault. *Rang Holden -sorry unless it faults at a Holden dealership we won’t do anything. Try leaving it at Tully Holden for a few days. Umm I can’t need the car to get to work. Well that is the only option. So the only viable Holden I can actual drop my Car off too is shut to the public because Corona. This is the most I ever spent on a car, I bought it for a purpose . I am just getting the run around and spending hundreds on fuel. I never thought I would say this but I wish I had bought a Toyota or Mitsubishi. So disappointed.
recent trip – Recently returned to nsw mid North Coast from Gulf and Nth Qld trip in recently purchased Trailblazer and Concept 18 ft van. Km totaled 17000, time away 110 days, GCM total 4800 kg, GVM caravan 2500 kg (all up) and ball weight of 212 kg. a weight distribution hitch was fitted but I could not seem to find a good setting so airbags were fitted half… Read more
through the trip. Problem solved . Power wise and comfort wise this vehicle beats anything I have previously owned. Best of all was the economy at 11.4 average with caravan hitched up over 80% of the journey.
Its a Good Workhorse – I have just clocked up 5500 kilometres in six weeks of ownership from new, 75% of that towing a caravan. Amazing low down grunt, great for pulling my caravan out of free camp sites. Tows my two tonne caravan easily at highway speeds and without need for levelling bars, just sits flat. I am impressed with the air conditioner. Probably the first car… Read more
I have ever owned that I can say the AC is too cold, and that was in SW QLD where temperatures were 45C degrees day after day. I was also impressed with the coolant temperature on those hot days. While towing the van the temperature gauge sat below half, same as when the car is not towing. However, the car does lack some sophistication. It is a fairly bumpy ride, although takes potholes well. The seats are not too comfortable and lacks supports. For a large car there should be more storage, especially for phones etc. GPS mapping is setiously out of date and lacking in the POI department, yet Holden say I have the most recent update and there is no ability to download an upgrade from the Holden website.
So, bottom line...far cheaper than most 4WD SUVs capable of towing 3000kg. Reasonably stylish, seems like a good strong engine. Hasnt faulted me in 5000klm of towing, tows easily. Yeah, I think the Holden Trailblazer is a reasonably good workhorse.
Failblazer and the non existance of Holdens former Glory – I bought my Trailblazer in November of 2018 as my wife and I decided to Part ways with my VF SS Storm due to having the larger family and a V8 couldn't fit us all. We were sold the LT Trailblazer- in fact all of the models of this line as being better than our Toyota Prado, more versatile than any other 7 seater cars on the market and the best… Read more
value for money especially when it came to reliability and operatibility. Since owning the car we have had nothing but dramas; 1. 4WD mode gives a loud cluncking from the transmission- we can't even get across our backyard without losing power and getting bogged. 2. One occasion where I returned home and locked the car, only to find out the cars power management system and fuse box Chernobyled and we lost use of the car for almost a week due to "unknown" issues that required another trailblazer from the dealership to be stripped of the fuse box and other "assorted" electrical parts. 3. Several times this has occurred: Total Dashboard power failure follwed by loss of control of the car and then the car returning to limp mode. THe last occasion happened on the Great Northern Highway (WA) resulting in a road train almost ramming us due to this fault. We have been told it was rodents eating the cables in the car, through to unknown error codes and are still waiting to hear back about this issue (I did mention the DPF may be an issue as others on other review sites have mentioned). It is now week 2 and we have no answer. I have lost all faith in Holden and its products, and if I were to chose again would have settled for an Isuzu or anything that has been proven over and over rather than a rebadged chev that has more issues than the Kardashians.
Just a great Car – Not much I can say, but fantastic Car. Had zero issues and the car is a dream to drive, compared to my old Mitsubishi Triton MQ. I have the Trailblazer Storm MY20 apart from very minor things like cup holder size, I cannot not fault it. I just wish someone can explain how to get to the top dash speaker, so I can upgrade it, which I do to all my cars. Great for towing and cursing across this great country of ours.... Show details
2 year review after 35,000km – Fantastic car. I preferred the Everest on test drive but for $12,000 saving went with the trailblazer. Tried the Pajero sport but felt cramped. Haven't regretted at all. Here's been the issues all in the first month 1. Auto window opening had a problem. Was sticky and stayed open. 2. Reverse sensor went off with towball in place. Took back to… Read more
Holden and they immediately fixed both no questions with pretty good service. Took a return trip with the window. At this stage I was a bit nervous I should have gone the extra $ for the Everest or prado. Since then it's been faultless. Tow a trailer regularly on trips. 4wd adventures to Dirk Hartog Coral Bay Denmark Kalbarri and Lancelin have all been spectacular. Have kept stock tyres. Got bogged once in Coral Bay with driver error. Car has performed brilliantly in soft sand dunes and rocky trails. The extra extra power and torque over competitors is great and being slightly lighter than prado and Everest this is noticeable in 4wd performance on the sand. Haven't missed a rear diff lock. Drives now as well as day 1. Cabin features I love: Collision alert and rear traffic alert for safety and helpfulness Holden link screen is easy to use and slight angle ledge to screen means touch screen is easy on the move. Seats work well for me - I know some say firm and flat - I like this Rear access and seat up and down mechanics are superb. I use this a lot with regular use of 7 seats and then all flat for surfboards. Rear compartment great for tools snatch strap shackles etc The open compartment on the dash is spot on for sunnies and an apple Get the dash mounted cup holders thrown in. They're awesome. Your drink is right where you need it on your right hand. Cabin features I don't like: Would love another usb in front and one in back Centre console small Centre cup holders small and rear one set back - get the dash ones and you'll be very happy. Centre ones are worst I've used. Although good for a 375ml can if you need a perfect fit so could really suit some. Cans don't rock and rattle. On road performance is good. I get 10l/100km in the city commute. As good as 6-7 touring. Got 12l/100km on a 200km 4wd on dirk Hartog island sand rocks and dunes which was impressive I think. Slight diesel lag on take off but find better than other diesels I've owned. Reverse camera and reversing sensors are spot on. Electric steering means steering this is best of any car I've owned. Dang wish my land rover series 3 had this back in the 90s! Previously I've owned a land cruiser , hilux, Pajero, escape, and jackaroo. This is my favourite by a long shot when taking on and off-road into account. Land cruiser was obviously better off-road and my wife's v6 petrol Sorrento is better on road but this trailblazer totally hits the sweet spot best off both worlds. Hope this helped. I'll do a 4 yr update and see how this continues. Cheers to all
Powerful tough family hauler – Having bought a 2.5ton caravan we needed a car capable of towing it comfortably. With a young child and potential for more children in the future, we needed something with room to grow as well. The Trailblazer stood out for us amongst the competition as having more power, better steering, better safety and significantly better value for money. … Read more
We have loved the child restraint points which are on the seat backs and easy to access, not a given in this class of car. Also it easily fits 3 car seats in the middle row. I fit in the third row of seats at 183cm tall, and a stroller and a couple of bags can still fit in the remaining boot space with 7 seats in use. Whilst there are no child seat anchorages for the third row, there is an option for fitting them using an accredited fitter and utilising existing bolt holes. Unfortunately the tumble mechanism for the middle row doesn’t allow much movement with child seats installed, and the split rear seat has the 60% on the kerb side making it hard to leave 2 seats installed whilst maintaining access to the third row without sending kids out on the road to enter. The boot floor is a little high off the ground but space is good, the seats fold easily and there’s a handy storage compartment easily accessible.
The trailblazer happily tows our caravan with a decisive transmission that doesn’t hunt for the right gear even down changes when decending hills automatically for engine braking. It tows happily at the speed limit, overtakes effortlessly and always has plenty of power in reserve, and can maintain good pace even up the steep hills around Adelaide. The engine revs about 1600 in 6th, 2100 in 5th and 2600 in 4th at 100kph. It can hold top gear comfortably on the flat with the van on the back keeping noise levels to a minimum, but even when working hard up steep hills it stays smooth and relatively quiet. You can use manual mode to be more selective but I have found the auto to do such a good job I barely use it. There is a little turbo lag from standstill but the torque kicks in hard from just over 1500rpm so it’s only a momentary issue!
Stability is great even in strong cross winds, although the read suspension sags a bit with 250kg tow ball down load so we use a weight distribution hitch and are considering getting airbag suspension assist on the rear. The ride is firm but nicely controlled, and the steering is very sharp and car like! Handling is very good considering it’s a tall suv, and it is fun to drive hard on a twisty road! The simple part time 4wd system works effectively though I haven’t been too far off road, it has worked well on dirt tracks and simple 4wd tracks.
Economy has been decent with 9L/100km in the country, 12 L/100km in the city with predominantly very short trips, and 15L/100km towing the caravan.
It has collision detection and lane departure warning, but missed out on full autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. It has a full compliment of air bags including curtain airbags for the 3rd row.
The cabin plastics are reasonable quality but there are a couple of sharp edges here and there although there are no rattles or squeaks after 40,000km. The leather seats are a little flat but they have heating which extends right up the backrest! The climate control is a little clunky in maintaining temperature, it can be either too hot or too cold and finding just right is tricky. Also the rear vents are for cooling or can only, they don’t provide any heated air distribution.
Storage in the front is a little limited but you can get cup holders to mount below the side aircon vents from Holden for $20 to give a couple more options.
We haven’t had any issues with the car, servicing is capped price and reasonable value for the kind of vehicle.
Overall we are very happy with the Trailblazer! It tows well, has heaps of power and has been completely reliable.
Flawless except for the tow bar issue – I bought a Trailblazer Col 7 2016 and it has been amazing, I have done 100,000 km in two years and still drives like it is brand new...powerful, good on fuel, and super comfortable. The only issue I have had, and others have had too, is when I have my tow bar on (no matter what configuration, drop bar etc) the reversing sensors just keep going… Read more
off...drives me nuts. Holden just flog me off, Wollongong Holden in Fairy Meadow is the worst. Their solution, just take your tow bar set up off? serious, i am constantly hooking on trailers, vans etc. Anyway, love it love it.
Great Vehicle Great Value – I wrote a review on this vehicle not long back this is a follow up. I purchased this car in June and have just returned from a 10,000 k trip to Queensland where I drove it in all conditions, it performed beyond my expectations. It is a capable four wheel drive when needed and a great family car on the road, quiet, comfortable and loads of power… Read more
will tow a large van or trailer at a hundred k with no effort it has all the features you would require in a car and more. The Bluetooth and GPS performed without a hitch and air con was great. They say it does not have a diff lock, not true, it has, but it works different to others. Off roaders seam to think that if they don't have a button to push it's no good, all that counts is that it works. If I have a problem with it it will be the position of the USB port in the centre console, if you drop something heavy into it you would damage things, the USB needs to go into the dash somewhere but that's just nitpicking. Overall this vehicle is tops with me it never even looked like going wrong and I don't treat my cars gently.
Can't fault it so far – So far can't fault this car I have read all the reviews on this vehicle and I fined that all of the negativity pointed at it is untrue. It is smooth on the road it is quiet it is powerful it is comfortable and I would recommend it to anyone. This vehicle has come of age if you are in the market for a vehicle that will do almost anything at a budget price do yourself a favour and go for a test drive. Show details
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! – Quiet, very good acceleration, seat warmers are awesome, the technology on the dashboard is really great how it does Apple Car-play and Android Auto, and LOADS and LOADS of room in the 1st and 2nd row but the 3rd row doesn't have as much, and it is really good how the drivers seat goes back and forth and up and down. Know better, choose better.
Love our Trailblazer!!! – Purchased our Trailblazer 6 months ago and have racked up 10 000kms on it. Absolutely brilliant. Such a pleasure to drive on the road and even down at the beach. Average fuel around 9.5L/100ks. Great to have 7 seats and have had adults use the 3rd row seats with plenty of room for them. For the price, compared to other 4wds in its range, you… Read more
cant beat the value for money in this car. All the features you could ask for and plenty of power out of the duramax.
Would have been nice if it came stock with some all terrains, but with new tyres and a 2 inch lift, this is a great off road vehicle as well.
Holden, more like hold on! – The LTZ trailblazer is one of the best purchases we have make this decade. The joy to drive and the space as a passenger is more than perfect. The colours available and the optional extras are endless. This SUV compared to its rival the MU-X is miles ahead in aesthetics and performance. Don't waste your time on anything else in the SUV range Show details
If you have a technology focus - don't purchase – Vehicle looks good inside and out. Very comfortable and nicely appointed. Have not had it off road as yet, but all the professional reviews state this is where the vehicle excels, along with it's towing capacity. Initially, I was pleased with my purchase and enjoyed driving it. It has technology you would expect in a 2016 model - cruise… Read more
control, reversing camera, computer driving assists, etc. but it is let down badly by the infotainment system, especially GPS, it is very basic - Bringo, and needs to connect to Android or Apple smart phone. Usable apps are very limited and the Infotainment system cannot make use of the phone apps, despite the advice in the handbook. This is unacceptable. I think that it is insulting to offer GPS (Bringo) in a top of the range Trailblazer. It requires an initial purchase for a trial period and then payment of a further licence charge - for each separate phone user! I refuse and will revert to Google maps on my phone. (Thus distracting me from paying attention to my driving, which Holden make a big safety issue for Bringo.) All I have is a very expensive car radio. Holden support have no answers and simply direct me to their website which simply states that the infotainment system cannot be upgraded. Apparently this issue (and others) have been rectified in the 2017 model. I have never had GPS in any of my vehicles before, so this has been a big disappointment for me.
Maybe I am being over critical, and I should be thankful that I have a very good 4x4 at a good price in comparison to the competition.
Surprised – Traded the much Loved D.Max. Only because of the dealers. (Isuzu) what a surprise tows 2.8 tonne bueatifully. Much more torque, 6 speed auto lets you use cruise much more. Very comfortable, better fuel consumption, Didn't believe I could do better than the old D,Max. (wrong very wrong) It,s just a pleasure to tow with. Show details
