When is Mist not mist? And that's not all – I bought this Holman Pistol grip 8 setting water nozzle from Bunnings a little over a year ago, in a pack of two nozzles - the other was a 'bonus' 12mm variable pistol sprayer. The price was $9.90 from memory so I felt I was getting a bargain. However I found out quickly that you get what you pay for. They are both poorly designed - so much so that I frequently curse them silently when using them and vow to never again buy another Holman product. They get one extra star for actually working to some degree, even if not how I want them to work.

The extra 'free' one - the smaller variable one, actually was more useful for a time as it had the best pressure/volume jet. But now that the wire flip retainer that is used for locking the spray ON has broken (due to very poor design), it is now only half as useful. You would think that the most simplest of engineering designs like a flip lock system could be made to work reliably, but apparently it was too difficult for them.

The main 8 setting pistol nozzle is even worse. My last sprayer was a cheap $5 generic no name unit that was great. This Holman falls far short of that. Starting with the Mist selection - it isn't a mist spray! It is just another cone setting with way too much volume and is very disappointing as a true mist output is very valuable. Then there is the Jet selection, but wait a minute - there is no Jet setting! There is only Full, or Stream. I don't get it. 'Full' is just a mess of water, the full water pressure coming out in no particular neat way. Stream should be the jet but somehow they have managed to reduce the pressure so that only around 60-70% of the hose pressure is available. No JET setting!! Then there is Flat - which is not flat but at a crazy angle, so that if you want it flat you have to tilt your hand to make up for it! The trigger pressure is too high but at least the hold flipper lock works on this one. Also they both leak constantly at the connection due to the screw-in hose attachment always unscrewing itself. No matter how often I tighten it up. Conclusion: very poorly designed and disappointing spray nozzles and along with the two Holman water timers that I threw away in disgust, means I will never buy Holman again.
