A good bike with one major flaw – I write this as a comparison between my previous PCX150 (2021) and my new PCX125 (2024). The 150 is no longer being brought in, something to do with the braking system not meeting Aussie standards. I will leave the conversation about the worlds leading motorcycle manufacturer knowing more about scooters than our esteemed (LOL) regulators. However… Read more

it makes this situation very frustrating.

Bad stuff first. The bike is underpowered. The old bike got off the line much quicker but it is in the midrange and top end that the differences become really apparent. The PCX125 is just short of power compared to the 150 version. That is not to say I am some sort of hoon, I gave that behaviour up years ago. When you ride a bike sometimes you need a little more get up and go to get out of or away from danger, e.g. merging onto a free way etc. This bike struggles with that. The old bike would do 117 indicated (about 110 actual) on the free way flat stick. This one (albeit being new and not loose yet) struggles to make 95 indicated (I hope that improves) and it is in the 50+speeds that the lack of acceleration becomes noticeable and a little frustrating. It is OK around town, but this lack of grunt means that trips into the city on the free way are not going to be a regular occurrence. Hey maybe I should get it turboed?

This is doubly vexing when the rest of the bike is SOOOOOO GOOD! Fit, finish, layout, functionality, easy of use, ride, handling, brakes all just lovely. This is such a well thought out, tried and true, icon of the motorbike world that it deserves better ticker.

I guess if you only do inner city, the light weight, fun riding and good looks make it a good choice.

So I am off to research how to lose 20kgs and how to improve performance so I can be more at one with this machine.

As you can see from the photo I had a Shad box mounted on the rear, nice piece of kit.

Good luck and safe riding.

Greg.

Ticks most boxes – Despite its narrow wheels, the road holding is actually quite good especially after the original tyres are replaced with quality brands. There is also ample storage underseat for a full face helmet and a bit more. One can also buy panniers, a tunnel bag and a top box taking storage to impressive levels. Consumption figures are also very good,… Read more

regularly registering 225 kms between fill-ups. The engine is excellent and pulls away at traffic lights ahead of other vehicles. The integrated brakes also help with the scooter's stability.

On the negative side, how could they forget the digital clock on the pre-2013 models?! On my own scooter, I have been experiencing a problem with an irritating squeak coming from the rear brakes. The Honda people cannot find the cause for this despite having reported it from the first service at 1,000 kms and at each service right up to the most recent at 24,000 kms. Ultimately, like most Japanese motorcycles/scooters, it is the engine that is the strongest selling point. For some reason, the Japanese lose the plot in most other areas where the dubious quality, compared to European bikes, starts to become evident.

Best Scooter Ever !! – This scooter is Awesome and goes really fast when needed. Great Mielage and Good storage compartment . I travel through motorway at 80/km hr twice a week , and this scooter hasn't failed to surprise me with maneuverability. It's idle start / stop at traffic , is great feature to save Petrol and it has always started at first go . I ride my… Read more

scooter almost everyday or second day , It has good pick up 0 - 60 km and good set of break . I have left few motorcycle's of its weight & cc behind , when needed would be good if it went beyond 100/hr . Seat is quiet comfortable , Good leg space for rider and Rear set for pillion too . I would Highly recommend it . Very reliable !!

Fantastic metro commuter – The Honda PCX 125 is my everyday commuter scooter which is absolutely fantastic. Its fun to ride and extremely reliable. Starts first time every time without fail. Feels great on the road for a small light weight bike even when carrying a pillion passenger. Not too sure what the 1st reviewer was on about. The seating position itself could be… Read more

better compared to other scooters but its quite bearable and also comfortable once you get used to it.

The PCX is extremely responsive when taking off from the lights and will quickly gets you to 60 or 70 km/h without stress. It does go much faster but I have never had a need to push it. Fuel economy is also really impressive. The idle stop function works flawlessly. As soon as the throttle is twisted the engine instantly & quietly comes to life and your on your way. Not sure how much fuel you would save as its so cheap to run without using it. There is an option to turn the idle stop on or off.

The brakes are also really good when you need to stop suddenly. They do the job well.

The PCX feels confident when slowly filtering between stationary traffic or taking corners with the speed up.

Even the wet & annoying tram tracks of Melbourne don't upset it. Heaps of room under the seat.

All in all its a good looking functional scooter which does the job superbly. Glad I purchased the Honda PCX.

absolute death trap – This bike is honda's worst ever. Doesn't suit all bikers i had an accident on mine due to lack of protection. When any wind at all you don't stand a chance. Honda needs to bin this design. Too light of a bike. Anyone buys a pcx more fool them. To buying this death trap. The bike is too light and is easy damaged. I would not encourage anyone to buy… Read more

a pcx. They are nice to look at, they sound nice when starting the engine but when out on the road that is totally different matter.

Good little bike - 28000km so far – I use my bike every day to get to work and home - rain, hail or shine. This is my first motorbike and it has been easy to get used to and live with. Fuel economy is fantastic. Idle stop feature is a bit of a gimmick. Killed my battery, so I rarely use it any more. Drive belt spontaneously self-dissembled (ie broke) at 26000km. It is supposed to be… Read more

changed at 25k but I was a little out with my service schedule. The little hump thingy on the seat retains water after rain and you get a wet bum the next day, even if the rest of the bike is dry. Onto my 3rd rear tyre and 2nd on the front. Pirelli Diablos seem pretty good.

Happy have found the problem – As you will see I have already written a report on the Honda pcx ,which I reported as having problems with vibration in this bike, well I am happy to have possibly found the problem. I had to replace the rear tyre because of a nail in it,which they would not repair because of safety reasons, so the Thailand made tyre was replaced with a Pirelli… Read more

and bingo the problem seems to have gone. I am sending this report in again to rerate this bike to the excellence it deservers, I still must say if Honda had taken some interest in my problem when I reported it to them direct and also reported it to a Honda service shop, I would then not have had to write such a negative first report on this excellent bike ,so if they had followed up my problem ,I then would not have had a issue with this bike. I now rate this bike as excellent and after 3 years of use I find now after finding the problem which I must say was frustrating and in the end it was not the bike it was the tyre that was the problem, so as I said in my first report I really like this bike and enjoy it every time I ride it and have the feeling it will still be going when many others will be in the rubbish tip. smooth & quite, very quick to 60 klph, quite starting, positive handling, cheap to run, well made seatig not comfortable for long trips makes back ache, handlebars to wide & to high,no clock,

PCX 125 After 5000km – Well, 4900km actually but all going well except I am an irregular user so it's actually a bit over three years old now. It has been a great experience for me returning to bikes after a couple of decades. I'm surprised about the other report here of vibration. One of the reasons I bought it was because it was so smooth. Would be disappointed it… Read more ·  1

it lost that. I'd be interested if this is a common problem. One problem I had was with the idle stop. It didn't start up once (in one of the city's busiest intersections oh no!). Had to leave it to rest up for a couple of minutes before it would start again. I suspect this was battery related and due to my irregular use. It has only happened once. I know idle stop isn't provided in the US. You have to wonder if a bike that regularly gives me 2.5 lpkm really needs idle stop but it does make you feel good. If it worries you you can turn it off at a convenient switch. My only other problem is due to my usage. I really would like a real 100kmph. My GPS says that it gets breathless at 96. Mind you I have done that for 50km and most of the motorists around me seem to be similarly deluded by their speedos so I feel like I'm going fast enough. No other complaints. It is just so good in traffic and only the odd Ferrari or competitive type can beat me off at the lights. Hard to believe it is only a 125 most of the time. Size, balance, ride, smoothness, acceleration up to 60km idle stop failed once, can't quite get to 100kph
