Perfect Roadster. This one is a keeper – Customized my vt750s and it a head turner. Its a real keeper, get narrow handlebars and filter like a dream. City commute is excellent, robust Honda engine, simplistic yet modern technology. Liquid cooled is another great plus. Power when you want it. Show details

Very happy with the bike – I have recently purchased a VT750s 2010 which had done like 8500km, it was a quiet so i changed that by drilling holes in the back of each exhaust. i have been riding a different style of bike and have found this to be a nice change, even took the wife for a ride, enough power and handles well. i am not out to break any records in speed but has… Read more

enough power and speed for me.

As most people have commented a larger tank would be nice but by keeping an eye of distance travelled and ensuring to fill before it to late works ok for me.

Excellent quality bike – Bought mine 2014 model on black for $6000 with 7000km 1 owner. Good amount of power to get me around easily. Nice finish, only downside is its hard to get aftermarket goodies without getting them from overseas .cant wait to upgrade exhaust to give it a real throaty gargle  Show details

O.K – Goes from A to B reliably, but without excitement. Looks good, quality build, sounds good. Under-powered, severe clunk when put into first gear, huge turning circle. The small tank does not concern me, I knew it was there before I bought it. Price was good at $8,500 new. Rear drum brake is rubbish.

Brilliant ride – I have bought this bike recently. There is nothing in the market that can match the ride away price of $8500. Its my every day ride, great in traffic, or out on the open road. I found that it turns more heads than any other bike I have had. It is back to basics riding. There are quicker bikes, better handing bikes, better cruisers. But this one does all very well.

Mr Versatile – Recently purchased this very user friendly motorcycle. Very capable retro cruiser / naked bike that is equally at home commuting in the city or a fun weekend ride further afield. It has a smooth power band and comfortably cruises at 100km in fifth gear. Cheap to maintain and insurance costs very reasonable. Looks stunning in white! Quality… Read more

Japanese finish, inexpensive to purchase and very economical on fuel Smallish petrol tank can restrict touring

Quality bike – Had this bike for a couple of months, bought it new. Feels great on the road with plenty of power. Reminds me a bit of my old favourite the CX500 from years ago. I'm going to get the seat modified, bit firm in the center after a couple of hours. You have to plan your fuel stops at less than 300k apart, and I would like a bigger tank, but it's no… Read more ·  1

big deal. Might pack a 5L fuel tin on long tours maybe, but 90% of my riding is around town.

Rear brake is drum so make sure you set up the pedal for best effectiveness, there's plenty of pedal and travel to adjust. At least drums cant degrade in the wet but not as sharp as a disc.

Upright seating position without having pegs too far forward is good, but I bought the boulevard scteen for wind breaking and it's just right.

Overall I love the bike, it's Japan built quality that can't be beaten. For less than 9 grand ride away brand new! Better bike than the Harley I tested, and I don't do dress ups anyway. I wake up excited every day the weather is good to ride it to work or wherever. Quality built Honda. Feels great to ride. Looks great. Fuel tank a bit small, seat a bit hard. No ABS for Y generation riders.

Easy riding retro machine! – I'm in the market for new bike after recently selling my 2006 VTR1000F Firestorm. I'm looking for something more upright (I'm 39) and have been looking at naked and retro styled bikes. I went to my LBS in Adelaide and they let me take out the VT750S for a 30 minute ride. Positives; Very comfortable riding position and even though it reportedly… Read more ·  2

weighs around 250kg wet it felt a lot, lot lighter. I think the big front wheel assists with this.

Rear vision is excellent thanks to the position of the mirrors. The engine has plenty of torque and enough horses for what I'm after. The seat is comfortable but I was only on it for 30 minutes so I would like to take it for a longer ride before I gave it the final tick.

The engine makes a subtle note that is that unmistakable V-twin note, however like most factory pipes there too quiet and as it's the same engine as the vt750 cruisers finding good pipes is easy and youtube gives you plenty of examples on how good this engine can sound with aftermarket pipes. The stock pipes must not be too bad though as I got some head turns cruising down Rundle St in Adelaide.

Honda market this bike as a cruiser but to me it looks more retro and other overseas posters agree with me. As you do I was checking myself out in large shopfront reflections and I liked what I saw (I'm talking about the bike).

The speedo is very easy to read. You don't need to move your head at all to see your speed and it's always in your peripheral vision.

Finally it's just plain good fun to ride and is very nimble in traffic.

Negatives;

Maybe because I'm used to sport bikes but when I put my feet down at traffic lights I found I kept hitting the foot pegs, so I had to put my feet out wider or behind the pegs. It wasn't a major issue but something I noticed nonetheless and from my point of view it was this bikes biggest negative.

It doesn't have an overtaking lever to flash your lights, small thing but it's nice to have when making sure drivers entering the road see you.

When riding you have to rest your foot on the rear brake pedal or of to the side as it doesn't fit underneath. Some may say this is a positive and I must say that after 15 minutes I got used to it and it was actually ok. You need to push down a fair way on the rear brake for it to work anyway so it isn't too big a negative.

The back break is pretty soft, and you need to push down firmly to get it to work hard for you but the front brake is adequate for the majority of braking anyway.

Tank is smallish so if your looking for long range cruising it will have limitations, though I would have thought you would be looking for more CC's if that's was your main concern.

Conclusion;

I'm looking for a fun bike that has style and street cred, which is also reliable but sounds nice too. Being easy to ride is also important to me as I will doing mainly metro riding. Power isn't a big issue though I still like enough to clear away from the lights which this VT has. If these things tick your boxes then this is a great bike.

The pegs could be pushed forward so that would fix the bikes biggest negative for me.

It was hard to take it back, I wanted to keep riding and I will be buying one as soon as the boss gives me clearance with a set of pipes! It's a great looking bike and I woke up the next day thinking how much I enjoyed the ride. Easy to ride, comfortable, looks excellent, V-twin sound. Footpegs position, soft rear brake.
