Bought 2 units. Useless on carpet – I bought 2 x robocom 2's to wander over a large house. As they failed bigtime they were both mothballed. Now in a new "non carpeted" house I decided to purchase 2x new battery packs and give these things another chance. Disappointed to say, Neither will function immediately leaving the charge docks. They just go dead. Battery packs are both good. $800 plus new battery packs totally wasted. Show details
Out for council pickup – Bought a Hoover robo vac 2 years ago, it worked ok for first 6 months then died and have had 2 replacements which appeared terminally stupid throwing themselves down the stairs and getting stuck under furniture. Finally battery won't hold a charge, spoke to Hoover and told a replacement was in stock only to wait and wait, called again to be informed stock delivery May 1 not happy got a refund and Out it goes.
Robocom on carpet = useless – I have had the robocom now for about 12 months and it does not work very well. If you have any 10mm high stands (eg surround speakers or base of a pedestal) it will mount it and get stuck, especially on carpet. I have a box with ornate legs just the right height for the robocom to go underneath and it gets trapped on the angled legs of the box. … Read more
The sweeper picks up the German Shepard hair however it all becomes matted in the tines of the capture part and does not go into the compartment and which the volume of the hair it blocks quickly. Cat hair does not seem to do this. I have to pull it apart and clean the roller parts very very regularly to get rid of hair that traps end of the rollers. If I don;t do this the cleaner slows even more than normal on the carpet.
The cleaner almost never returns to the base station. I have to find it and then carry it to the station. This happens even in the same room and it does not appear able to line up to the station even when it does locate it.
stuck! – I have floor boards and low pile mats in lounge and bedrooms. It gets stuck and turns itself off in defeat. It sounds good that it can be programmed to go out twice a day.... but not when it goes out for no more than 10 mins and becomes stuck. I found myself becoming angry with something that should ease one's life. I then took it back and… Read more
purchased a Roomba... worth every cent and goes up mats with ease. No... let's come home and find the hoover stuck anymore.
Works well when it does work! – I had to return the Hoover Robo.com2 three times in the first couple of months of purchase. I insisted on a new one that then worked fairly well until about 1 year later when it only ran for 6 mins as opposed to the 120 mins it is supposed to run for. Took it back to Godfrey's for repair and was told not to charge it for more than 5 hours and to… Read more
empty container after every use. I guess you get what you pay for which is why its competitors are double the price.
Battery lasted 13 months with only 'moderate' use! – Disappointed, paid $400.00 and the battery lasted 13 months, just out of warranty. I expected as least two to three years life before requiring a replacement. A genuine Hoover replacement battery from Godfrey's is $129.00, an OEM is around $75.00. I have batteries in other devices that last years longer. Sad that Hoover thinks they can just… Read more
'milk' a client with on-going consumables. I won't be buying another Hoover product ever again! You only ever get once chance to BURN a client...
waste of money! Useless piece of garbage – woks for a coule of mins & then gets stuck. doesn't clean very well. unreliable (been replaced twice & they keep getting worse) Godfreys vey unhelpful. Waranty repairs took over 2 months. overall bitterly disappointed. DONT BUY!!!! I will never purchase a Hoover product again or go to Godfreys.
Abolutely Useless – This is the biggest rip of I have ever purchased. It get stuck, it does not identify the virtual wall, it stops etc etc etc. I will never purchase a Hoover product again.
Not too impressed! – We bought one about 12 months or so ago and it gave us trouble a fair percentage of the time, sometimes not even turning on. Eventually took it in for service from the suppler for the third or fourth time and it was replaced with a new one, due to taking too long to get it serviced. The new one is not so hot either, sometimes needing to be… Read more
turned on and off a few times to get it working. We have absolutely no confidence it it and consider it to be virtual junk! Not a good advert for Hoover goods which we have had many times over the years. Would not recommend it to anyone. I would not buy any Hoover product again.
Love my little robo elf – I was given my lovely hoover robo vacuum for Christmas well early Christmas it does all I expected it to, I have timber floors no rugs and several pets it is perfect my floors have never stayed so clean every working person needs a little help and it looks like the elves have been in cleaning when I get home from work every day. It is good for… Read more
our older folk too as they cannot get down to clean under beds lounges and coffee tables my lovely robo vac has no trouble with these jobs :)
No Good on Pet Hair – We were excited to get this as a gift and it is a great idea BUT no good at picking up dog hair. We have floorboards and tiles and have to vacuum every day but using this Hoover Robo Vac was a real disappointment. I wouldn't recommend it at all. It doesn't do the job!
Completely useless – Everytime I come home it's stuck somewhere, could be in a corner, against the leg of the table, anywhere (and I have an open plan room with minimal furniture) Such a waste of money.
Not Good – First day use got stuck on everything, had an LG before although twice the price was excellent until sat upon by grandchildren, don't go for cheap such as the Robo.com2. Don't leave home and expect the job to get finished before it gets stuck, this makes the auto timing function useless.

Happy so far – I think it is good value for money and saves me time on household chores. It does pick up a lot of dirt but you need to empty it every time it is used. We have a large house and it can't do the whole house on one battery charge. That I don't have to do the work It gets lost between the homing dock and the house when it try's to return for charge
Not strictly speaking a vacuum cleaner – I am very pleased with my Hoover, but it is not correct to describe it as a "vacuum cleaner" as it does not have ANY suction. (Wikipedia = A vacuum cleaner is a device that uses an air pump to create a partial vacuum to suck up dust and dirt, usually from floors) It is really a robotic carpet sweeper as it only sweeps and brushes the surface,… Read more
picking up the fluff, dust, etc and putting it in a tray. Having said that though, it does a very good job at brushing and I do not regret buying it. Easy to use and saves me having to sweep Nothing
Love it – I found this little vacuum cleaner was far better than I had expected . It does a wonderful job on both my bamboo floors and carpet. I was quite surprised at how much dirt and dust it does pick up considering its compact size...okay you do have to empty it each time, sometimes twice and brush its little roller every now and then ...I have 2 dogs,… Read more · 1
so to be expected. I put it on for a bit each morning either upstairs or downstairs and it does a great job. It moves easily from hard floor to carpet. The only thing it jams itself on are, if you have tassels or fringes on rugs as it's little sweeping foot gets tangled in them, so I just use the remote and keep it away from that part. I hardly have to use my big dyson vacuum cleaner..maybe once every week or two weeks , just for my own peace of mind really. When I first got it, it seemed to get a bit stuck here and there, but as time went by (I've had it for 2 weeks), it seems to learn and work it out. Overall I'm very happy with my Robbie. It cost me $499 , battery life is good, not run out yet. Don't think I'd spend $1000 for some of the other models as this one does a great job. Great, saves me tons of time as I don't really have to use my big vacuum cleaner at all. If far away from its dock, it struggles a bit to find it
Love my Robbie – I have polished floors and timber to be repace in kitchen. Yes it, does get stuck sometimes but once we worked out areas we moved some furniture and created a barrier for under the fridge. Once or twice I couldn't find him so we used the remote to hear the beep. Now after one month its great, my floors are shiny and dust free. i still mop and… Read more
sweep under the lounge but we are not sweeping lounge, dining, study nor kitchen every day. I have it programmed to go before lunch while we are all at work so thats another plus. The dog and grandson were scared at first now they ignore it and the 2 year old always wants it on so floors get extra cleaning. Three hours or there abouts is the longest I have let it go for and so long as nothing is blocking base he goes home.Easy to clean and empty. Love it
Very disappointing! – I bought our Robocom about the same time as "Jenny from Hobart" and have had the same results but sadly my Godfrey's man (Port Melb) didn't offer a trial period and, when asked later, shrugged his shoulders and offered only to get the service guys to take a look at it for me. I will take him up on that offer now that everyone is returning from the… Read more
Xmas shutdown.
In many ways the machine is good for what l hoped it would do (it does not replace a vacuum cleaner - l didn't expect it to). I hoped it would whip around the tiled surfaces regularly and do a quick dust and crumb collection. But it struggles to move from our tiled floor to a large rug in our living area. More often than not it leaves a lump of fluff from the waste collection bin on the carpet when it moves from one surface to another (ie tiles to carpet/rug).
It regularly gets stuck under pieces of furniture when, if operated manually, it can usually simply back out from (but doesn't!). It's cleaning pattern seems to be absolutely random - it looks like it has some method then bumps into something and just heads off in a totally different direction and area.
Sometimes it recognizes the "virtual barrier" but more often than not it ignores it completely.
It often mounts a door stop we have on our tiled floor and can't get itself off (if it recognized the virtual barrier it wouldn't be there in the first place).
The automatic timer works well - l set it to run at 9:30am on Mon, Wed & Fri and it sets off as planned. Sadly it has not once returned to base at the end of it's sequence. If it is placed in line-of-site of its home base it will, eventually, find its way home but if it is in another room it has no idea how to find its way home.
The Robocom was the most expensive option Godfreys had in their shop and l was happy to accept the salesman's advice that it was the best of the lot - and worth the $$$ - and so was happy to pay the $500. Sadly it is not worth that money. I wish l could get a refund. I love the concept. I'm very disappointed in its ability to do what it's supposed to do.
Disappointed – This seemed like a good idea, Godfreys said I had two weeks to take it back if I didn't like it, and unfortunately, I will be taking it back tomorrow. It's got good battery life, about 2 hours (so the salesman tells me). Looks impressive, has a reasonable sized dust container, remote control, comes with a virtual wall, docking device, supposedly… Read more
takes itself back to the dock when it gets down to a low battery - I never had it on long enough for itself to take itself back home ( as it always got stuck and turned itself off before it reached that point). I did set it down a few times with a clear path back to the dock & pressed the home button - it did eventually get there, but it was a long, meandering journey, that a couple of times took it right out of the room before it eventually made its way back.
It gets stuck. A lot. At first you see it sense an object and turn around, or it nudges into something, has a few tries and frees itself - you think, this is good. Then it gets stuck in a corner, or under a table, or it manages to dislodge the cord you tucked up out of the way, promptly runs over it and gets stuck - it gets stuck places it shouldn't - against the edge of the wardrobe, for example. Nothing to stop it freeing itself, except it doesn't. Doesn't like the doorstops - runs into those and tries to free itself - it should be able to, just back up slightly & change direction & it'd be free. But instead it just keeps trying to go straight ahead and when it can't, eventually it gives up and turns itself off.
It coped with the heating vents in the floor, which was something I thought it might have a problem with.
I have an old house with lots of separate rooms, and it got stuck multiple times in each room.
I couldn't go out and leave it to operate on it's own, the only time I did, I came home to find it stuck & battery dead under a table (where it shouldn't have gotten stuck).
I was impressed with the dust collection - I vacuumed the house manually extremely well ( have just finished renovating) before testing the Robo, and there was an impressive amount of dust in the collector when I emptied it ( considering I'd just vacuumed!) - pity I had to get up multiple times and free it, though. Didn't do well picking up thread s& cotton after I'd been sewing today, though.
I never got to test it in the kitchen, as it's been a construction site & today the floor's just been varnished. I suspect it would do well there, nothing to get stuck under & a large, open room - but I'm not paying $500 for a vacuum for only one room! So I can't comment on how it does with hard floors. Never had cause to use the virtual wall, either - can't set it up for every sofa, armchair, table, bed etc that it might get stuck under.
I did try to program it to come on a a specific day & time - I set the time for a few minutes away & then waited. Nothing happened. Gave up and went out after half an hour. Came home 90 minutes later & it was, as above, stuck under a table. So it obviously turned itself on sometime after what I'd programmed & tried to work - didn't get far.
If you have an open plan home with not too many potential obstructions, it'll probably be OK - I'd say give it a go if you're able to return it.
If you buy from Godfreys, be sure to ask about the two week trial period, and be sure to test it out well. Godfreys is also the service centre for Hoover, which is a plus, I believe some of the other top brands you end up speaking to a call centre & freight in it for repair. Picks up a lot of dust. Gets stuck constantly.
I did the same and took it back and they would not refund me . The product is no good at all ! my story is the same as above !
dissapointing – Situation: Wife has a Roomba delivered for a trial period. Husband nods head at the expense of it. A week later, the Irobot Roomba is best friend and does not want to part with new robo friend but does not want to cough up nearly $1000. Husband goes out to look at alternative cheaper robo vacuum Husband ends up with Hoover Robo.com Both… Read more

wife makes deal with Irobot TV channel dealer and orders a Roomba 780
everybody happy! (Except man in Godfreys who had his Robo.com returned)
You get what you pay for. The Hoover is in no way in the same league as I robot products. fairly quiet in comparison with some robot vacs does not like walls, corners, rugs, sunlight (the sensors go mad on sun lit floors) doorways, cheap plastics
3RD Hoover in a month. The thing keep on having PCB problems. Tired of the thing walking into the… Read more (+1 reply)
