Dud Product – This vacuum performs poorly. Battery, motor and suction are weak. We regret buying it. It worked well in the shop with the demo for flour but doesn't perform like this for us Show details

ITS THE BEST – I have had my ultra vac for close to over 10 years this is the best, same battery, all i have done is replace the pole as connections become loose,I wouldn't look at getting another brand all these other brands will never compare to hoover products, they keep going suction is still great ,battery lasts, these other new stick vax don't compare to the… Read more ·  3

For someone on the go – There are 2 types of floors at home but the Hoover easily handles both well. It has enough power to cope with most situations and the handy conversion to a small, hand-held unit is ideal. Portable use is terrific for the car or elsewhere and the handy wall bracket keeps it out of the way. Show details

Great but has problem – If motor cuts out every 5 secs there is a build-up of hair/fluff not only visible on brush but behind the brush driver, so remove the circlip (be careful as the curclip is tiny) and pull out the driver to remove any hair/fluff. We are lucky that my daughter had this problem with hers and we were able to swap parts with mine to solve the problem.… Read more

If all else fails just buy a new head for $50. We thought it must be a problem with motor or battery, but it was the head causing it. Otherwise a good little stick vacuum.

Excellent product for house touch ups – I have owned my Hoover stick for 12 months now and couldn't be happier. After reading many poor reviews I thought I should put up a good review of the product. I clean the canister and brush head weekly and even wash it to remove all the dust and wipe the interior filter each time too. I have found that when the vacuum starts to loose suction it's… Read more ·  1

time to replace the Hepa filter. No issue with my battery, I can quickly run over the floors and carpet of a double storey house without the battery dying. I should mention that I use a normal vacuum to thoroughly clean the house and the stick is just for daily touch ups as we have long haired dogs.

Bought mine May last yr and still perfect – Bought mine from Godfreys and it is still perfect. I read somewhere that removing the rubber bit inside is better as it tends to stop the dirt and interfere with the suction. So I took mine off and the suction has been great. Battery last long and I love the light. I also bought the extra head that swivels, so much better too. This note added… Read more ·  1

6/12/22- it’s still working perfect and battery still last amazingly long. I always make sure to empty and clean it once a wk. 04/09/2025- Still working perfect as well as the battery.

Light and easy to use – I use many different types of vacuums in my job as a cleaner. I bought this for myself for personal use and can say that this is as good, if not better, than any Dyson stick vacuum I have used. I can't understand the bad reviews on here. It does have a long charge time but it lasts long enough for me to clean my 2 bedroom house thoroughly. I use… Read more ·  1

it several times a week and it's so handy to quickly clean up a mess. I can also vacuum the car easily with the attachments. It's super easy to clean and empty. The suction is great. As I said, I use a lot of vacuums during the week, I have a lot to compare it to. I wish all my clients had one of these, it would make my life a lot easier! I've had it for just over 6 months, so I can't comment on its longevity, but I do let the battery run flat before charging.

The most horrible electronic you could purchase – I bought this vaccuum stick in June 2020. From day one I realised it was a waste of money. It seems like a toy for a little child to use around home. Barely sucks anything, dropping dirt more than it sucks. In general it is the biggest rip off I have ever bought. Seriously if the fair trading office or any other complaints office where i can file… Read more

Just the worst piece of garbage – This is simply the most atrocious object on this planet. I've even had it repaired and it still barely sucks anything, if things are sucked they fall out, floor legitimately looks cleaner before use, keeps stopping and releases dust while vacuuming. I could literally do a better job by sucking dirt off the ground with my own mouth. Good for an asthmatic that just wants to end it naturally if I'm honest. Show details

A very good, light weight, hoover – I bought our 5221 a number of years ago. We were surprised at how good it was. Bought it for kitchen use, but use it all over, so lino and carpet. It can't do deep down suction, but we didn't expect that it would. Picks up dried dirt, gravel/stones, grass, etc. [coming off of our gumboots after working in the garden] from the carpet in the… Read more

Decent performance vs price – I was given a used model for free. A quick clean up of the filters and i removed the tiny fabric one inside the handle as it was very dirty and drastically reducing suction power. The red catch on the dust collector was broken but it easily stays shut with a rubber band snaped over it. The power brush really pulls a lot of hair and pet fur out of… Read more

This vaccum cleaner broke down regularly – Had problems with this vacuum cleaner from the beginning. Starting and stopping after 5 seconds, not charging, no suction. Just as well, if you used it longer it would give you blisters. Replaced and repaired by Godfreys. Both units worked badly and only for a short time. Paid $299 at Godfrey's which was too much. A poor value and badly performing… Read more

Worst stick vacuum I’ve used – I’ve had this vacuum for 2 years and I hate it vacuum with a passion. It turns a simple basic task into a frustrating bigger mess. The powered head just flicks the dirt and dust everywhere because the suction is so weak, and it ends up just pushing the debris around rather than actually sucking it up. After vacuuming when you turn the power off… Read more

almost everything that it has collected ends up being stuck in the tube and doesn’t make it to the filter so it then spills back down all over the floor.

Even trying to use it as a handheld vacuum it can’t even pick up dust from window tracks no matter which head you use. It’s entirely useless.

Battery life is good, continuous power button is good. That’s about it. It’s put me off Hoover altogether, there are plenty of stuck vacuums a thousand times better.

OK to use. But avoid it – It is a below average vac. Some feature like continuous switch is good and it is light weight. However poor suction and brush at the motor head is bad. Avoid this and buy something better and efficient. There are other low budget stick vacs out there that are good value for money. This isn't. Show details

2 uses and it’s stuffed – I bought this late last year to put away for when my house gets built and I move in. I’ve just moved in and on first use it was great. However by just vacuuming 4 bedrooms, a kitchen and a Loungeroom it drained the battery (fully charged before first use). So I charged it again. Now it won’t vacuum for more than 5-10 seconds before it stops. I… Read more

keep pressing the button to keep vacuuming but nothing. Then I try again and it’ll go for another 10 seconds and do the same thing. I chose this product thinking that because it’s a reputable brand it would be great quality. But I’m very unimpressed. Feels like $149 down the drain. Why should I have to replace a battery already? When it’s been used for less than an hour in total. Not good enough!

Exceptionally poor quality product! – Exceptionally poor quality product! This vacuum completely does not suck. I have a one bedroom apartment, and it stopes sucking after half a room is done. I empty the bin and it continues to suck hardly anything. You have to go over and over the same spot about 5 times and only 60% of the dust gets collected. Very disappointing.  Show details

Second battery just died – There is some type of design problem with the batteries in these Hoovers. The first one lasted about 2 years and was replaced by Godfreys (Hoover?) for free. (Excellent service.) It would charge but only run for about 10 seconds before stopping. But if you then eject the battery and reinstall it, it works for another 10 seconds and so on for… Read more

as long as you keep "resetting" it.

Edit 23/4/21 - I was wrong about this problem! After a bit of investigation I discovered that the shutdowns were caused by dog hair restricting the power head brush's rotation- causing an error to be sent back to the "brain" after 10 secs. You can simply check to see if this is the cause by removing the power brush and alloy wand and swapping in one of the other un-powered nozzels. (Or just look to see if the brush is rotating normally....)

Such a simple fix. Why isn't this listed in the user manual Troubleshooting section or why wasn't it suggested by the Hoover tech below????

When it runs it's acceptable – Purchased from Godfreys on sale and 14 months later the battery now fails. I get maybe 5-10 minutes out of it then goes to maybe 10 second intervals. battery is around $110 and they have to order in. I was quite happy with overall performance and didn't suffer the dropping the dirt back out that some other reviewers experienced. Dirt does get stuck in the canister though and you need like a stick or ruler to pull it out. Still, wouldn't buy another one now

Disappointing rubbish – Only had this for ultralight for 8 months and use regularly. Why design a vacuum cleaner that when you are finished spits out the dust back onto your floor!!! Cleaned after every use and clogs easily as bad design at base of stick into bin. Power rubbish after a while as you end up vacuming the same spot 2 or three times. A waste of money. No suction, leaves mess – I received this as a Christmas present from my mum in 2016. that. It still looks brand new! The battery has packed in its always been problematic but up to now managed to fiddle about and get it working but this time giving up. No point buying another battery its half the cost of the machine. Total let down especially since its hardly been used - Hoover have lost our vote we won't be buying their products again - especially given so many have found the same fault. Hoover customer service just fob off people on here by telling them to "get it checked by Godfrey's"....why when we all KNOW the issue already it's the battery in almost EVERY case.

Cracked and broken where the rod joins the dust collector unit – We have had our Ultra Light since October 2019 and it has been good. Great for hard floors – We have had this vac for approx 4 months and are so far happy with it. I only use it on hard wood floors to clean up after 2 small children and a dog. the floors in my 30sq 4 bedroom house. the dirt collector is a little small and needs regular emptying 2-3 times when I do the whole house at once! Emptying the collector has a simple release function but is inefficient. It is better to remove the collector entirely to empty contents. Seperating the shaft power head etc from the motor has a simple mechanism but requires some strategy to release the lock and pull apart. not entirely a burden but worth a mention.

Cleaning filters can be a tad tricky, but is simple after learning how. So too is cleaning the main filters. Don't expect this unit to collect larger items as pathways will not accept them. sucking power decreases considerably if filters are not kept clean. the power head brush does a good job but gets cluttered easy, though access to removal and cleaning the brush is very simple.

Overall I was able to purchase a good quality product at a good quality price.

Another battery problem – Have had this vac for less than a couple of years in a holiday unit so hardly gets used, but it now won’t work at all. I assume it’s the battery and would normally just buy another battery to try it. However, given that the batteries are half the price of the whole machine, this seems impractical, especially when there’s no reason to think that another battery would last any longer. I enjoy Vacuuming again! – I can't believe how many years I suffered with cheap nasty vacuum cleaners that would die after 6 to 12 months. Finally I have found the best ever, the fact it is cordless makes it so easy to start my cleaning, no plugging in, works great, takes a while to recharge but I will never go back to old style. Can be used on carpet and floor and easy to clean and empty. 10 out of 10, thanks Hoover. Show details ·  1
