Very disappointed – Bought the machine in 2012 and in 2016 the spider broke and was unrepairable. Advised Andi-Co Australia Ltd who sent a very rude reply telling me I had overloaded it. Had no response at all from the Good Guys. This is a single person household so the machine has only ever had extremely light washing requirements. I believe that 4 years of very… Read more

light use most definitely does not comply with a reasonable expectation of use. Will never purchase anything from Andi-Co and will not purchase Hoover products in future (have had other bad experiences with Hoover).

It's not bad overall – I didnt really want to buy this particular machine but it is one of the few slim machines available in Australia. The 'laundry' in my apartment being only 57 cm deep. It was this or a euromaid, and I really wanted a fast spinner. The machine has enough cycles to accommodate most types of fabric. What is a real negative is the rapid cycle, it does… Read more

not have a proper spin before the rinse course, so It enters this part of the programme full of suds. This also happens on delicates, but this cycle has 3 rinses so is not as much of a concern. That is a real shame as the Rapid cycle gives you the choice of 3 cycle times and the wash time is sufficient to ensure a thorough clean, at least on the 44 mins. The final spin is also truncated so items come out rather damp.

The other main problem to me it is very noisy, and the motor does not seem sufficiently powerful enough. It seems to strain and at times makes a screeching noise. I installed it myself and when moving it into place noticed the motor is a Haier unit, made in China. What is also odd the manual says do not do a load of just toweling as this absorbs a lot of water, why not just select a motor that could power a load full of towels??? It's a washing machine!

Overall I find the wash performance good(quite good scores in Choice), and if you select the 1400 rpm spin things really do dry faster. I also like the fact you can adjust the temp and spin speed on the fly. The porthole is a good size and bigger than most other lower end machines. Which brings me to another point, its a bit expensive for what you get. The plastics look sub-par compared to samsung, lg or bosch (these look white not grey), the panels and door when closing creak, there is no inverter motor but the machine is $800 and there is no reduction on price as it's imported by TGG. There is also a design fault, the gap between the 6 o'clock position of the porthole glass and the bellow is too wide, items are forced into this space and this deforms the shape of the bellow. The lower 'half - moon' of the bellow has also discoloured, is this from the heater I don't know.

The on-board sensors seem to work very well. It seems to know the weight of the load and if there is sufficient water for the wash. I have not experienced 'dry' washes that had dry patches on fabric like a previous Samsung. The foam sensor also works, as I have observed the machine stop an interim spin(masses of suds cascading down the glass) and then fill with water, up to the point of being half way up the porthole glass. Nice to know it has some brains. Would be better if there was an extra rinse option, i often add water to the rinse cycle manually especially for towels and sheets. This model has been updated in TGG and gives you this option, up to 5 rinses! It also has touch sensitive buttons and is $100 cheaper. I posted this to add to the information on this model, and I believe the new one to be the same on the inside and still powered by the same motor, just with a different fascia and controls.

Never buy a hoover front loader – The machine is a piece of garbage, over the past year the machine screehes when on spin cycle and can't put on at night or when u have guests . Twice a part in the machine has broken off and shreeder a pair if $500 pants and second time Sheridan sheets . Lived without a machine for two weeks before parts arrive , very disappointed .

Wouldn't buy again – I liked this machine "on paper" because it got a good "Choice" rating, had short cycles and was water efficient. But now, 18 months after I bought it, I wish I hadn't. As others have said, it does not rinse very well. All our clothes, especially towels, are stiff as cardboard. I have tried EVERYTHING to combat this: using less detergent,… Read more

different water temperatures, liquid instead of powder, etc etc. I even used the "sensitive care" feature so that extra water is used to rinse but that doesn't work, and really defeats the whole point of water efficiency.

Our machine also broke down within the first few weeks, but it was repaired under warranty quickly and has worked since then.

Other bad points:

- waiting an age for the door to unlock once a cycle is finished

- inaccurate times shown on the timer, e.g. it says there's 7 minutes left but 10 minutes later it's still going

- once it's started, it's almost impossible to re-set if you realise you've put it on the wrong program

- the "pause" button does absolutely nothing

- the settings are very limited, e.g. a short wash won't spin at anything over 800 rpm

Good points:

- it cleans well

- uses little water (but see above for what that means in terms of rinsing)

My family has had Hoover washing machines for decades, and I really hoped this would be one I'd use long term, but I plan to buy something different as soon as I can. A huge disappointment.

Faulty from Day One – We bought it due to the smaller depth in order to fit in our European laundry, and due to the short wash options (10month old baby = lots of washing). It was delivered and installed by Good Guys. Within the first 2-3 washes; - it failed mid cycle on the Quick wash, showing an error and not draining away - same when we used the "Fast iron" option… Read more

- a button, which all appear, poorly made and was faulty

Very disappointing. Have since replaced and gone for another brand. Thanks to Good Guys for dropping off the new one and picking up the Hoover, no hassles

Very Happy – After my 5 year old Bosch died on me with a broken spider, and not really wanting to spend more than 800 dollars on a new washing machine, decided for the Hoover as its spin speed goes up to 1400rpm, and is one of the few machines that fits in the tight space that I have available for a washing machine. The higher spin speed suits, as the Bosch… Read more

(up to 1200 rpm if you were lucky) never got the washing dry enough for the dryer. Sofar I am very happy with the new machine, you can shorten the programs, select the temperature, and run an extra spin cycle if wanted. Also, no danger of overloading it as the drum size is limited (big problem with the Bosch : the drum was much bigger than the maximum load would suggest). It does not shrink any of my washing, cleans well (on little detergent), and the space to loose a coin between the drums is certainly smaller than most machines I have had before. My spouse finds it hard to select the right program, and finds the electronic display hard to understand, but I think it is no more complicated than the Miele or the Bosch.

Really the only issue was with the delivery from the importing company which seemed to take a exorbitant amount of time, ruining the experience somewhat : no need for weeks delivery times when ordering a new washing machine Small and compact, water and detergent efficient machine that goes to 1400rpm spin long delivery time

Very disappointed - would not buy again – I loved my old Whirlpool frontloader however was concerned the newer generation wouldn't live up to the old ones. I really wanted an Asko this time around after all my research. However, the space to put a washing machine in in our rented house is tiny and this Hoover is the only machine that would fit. I hate it! It has shrunk so many… Read more

clothes..... I have tried sooo many cycles. Even when I wash on cold it shrinks things! I don't know how! Initially I chose the cycles the machine suggested - cotton for cotton, colours for colours but so much shrunk I just started using the rapid wash on cold. Still shrinking things! I'm talking my clothes, my husband clothes, my toddler's and my baby's.

Because it is so water efficient it doesn't rinse detergent well either. Again I have tried so many things to combat this - mixing powder in water before adding to the dispenser, putting it on Sensitive wash to get more water, extra rinse before wash if I've soaked things.

The clothes come out so stiff and hard I now have to use fabric softener......! I hate fabric softener! (it's an eco one so plant based but still I would prefer not to use it). I used to just use vinegar but that will no longer do. I have to put the spin on 800 as 1400 just comes out stiff as cardboard.

I have tried so many different cycles and mixes and ways to get my washing the way I want it. It is ridiculous how many buttons I have to push to do one simple load - and then the clothes are poorly cleaned, poorly rinsed, stiff and half of them are shrunk.

I have been doing laundry for 20 years and never had so much trouble.

Do not buy. The size - we have a very small space to put a washing machine in and basically this was the only one that would fit. This is the only reason I chose the machine. Has shrunk 100's of dollars worth of clothes, leaves clothes stiff, doesn't rinse detergent out well enough.

Consistent Washing Machine – After looking for a washing machine for approx 1 month, I finally chose this machine. A well known brand, and reliable in making quality electronics for many years. I wanted a machine that would do the job of washing at least once a day, and more on weekends. The machine has all the bells and whistles that you need to do a decent wash. I also… Read more ·  1

wanted a machine that has an excellent star rating for water consumption and electricity. The 7kg capacity is more than enough for our family of 2 Adults and 1 Child. Being an active family, and our son that plays many sports this machine has produced clean clothes in every wash we have done. I have found that the liquid detergents dont seem to wash into the machine properly, leaving some in the dispensing drawer. We have since started to put the detergent into the machine in the lid of the bottle. I was told that powder detergents are not as good. I did try them, and I agree, they are not as good because the powder does not dissolve properly. The 1400RPM spin cycle is amazing, a little noisy though. It really cuts down the drying time on the washing line. Great Value for money, Energy and Water efficient, 14 minute cycle, Timer setting, 1400RPM spin Waiting 2 mins for the door to release, spin cycle noisy, dispenser drawer could be better

Great machine! – After growing up with top loading washing machines, and aware of how much water they seem to waste per wash (especially if the extra rinse cycle is used) I decided to buy a front loader when my top-loader stopped working. I was looking for a machine with a high spin rate, but not too large capacity as I only do a few loads a week. I've had the… Read more ·  3

machine for a few days (catching up on a lot of washing!), and it seems to work really well. The prewash stain remove cycle seems to work wonders, getting out all sorts of dirt stains on kids clothes. The noise from the high spin cycle is not that loud (my old top loader was much noisier) - and as one of the other reviewers mentioned - its not like the machine is in the bedroom or lounge room. I'm still getting used to all the cycles and settings, but I like the ability to 'adjust' some of the pre-set settings, like temperature and spin control. I often wash in warm/hot water, and this machine heats the water it needs - connecting only to the cold water tap. It wasn't an issue for me, but I found it 'good-to-know' when I was looking at the specs between different machines. The 3yrs + 3yr extended warranty was definitely a drawcard for me, as I'd heard Hoover wasn't in the washing machine business for the last few years here in Aus (though is a reputable brand) - but so far, so good! I would recommend this machine to others, and ask anyone who is in the market for a new front loading washing machine to at least 'consider' it in their decision making process. Warranty + extended warranty option, variety of washing programs, max RPM rate, slimline size, water efficiency, and NO beeping at the end of the cycle

Extremely Satisfied – After 20 years of service our Hoover lop loader washing machine got replaced. We decided on another Hoover front loader and are extremely happy with our purchase. We bought the VHD8144D model for $799.00 as it will fit into a kitchen pantry cupboard in our kitchen. This machine has alot of wash cycles - we use the 44min wash and the a 2 hr wash… Read more

time and the longer the wash time the better the spin cycle is. So a 44 min wash the clothes still feel a bit wet but the longer wash times the clothes etc come out feeling practically dry!!! I anticipate this will cut drying time down considerably. It is very quiet - today I went and looked to see if it had finished but it was working away. I am very very happy. Streamline and will fit in a kitchen, water efficient and good name brand

Talked into this washer - I LOVE IT!! – Having used my daughter's front loader in Canada, I was dead against getting one. Had this discussion with the salesman, who set me straight about a few things. I went ahead and bought this Hoover VHD8144D on his recommendation (he was a very good salesman : )) ). I have never regretted my decision. I love this washer. I make my own laundry… Read more ·  1

detergent and am happy to say it works exceptionally well - even better in the Hoover than with the F&P top loader I had previously. My clothes are sparklingly clean, especially the whites. Having only ever owned top loaders, it has taken some getting used to and I have had to trial the various cycles to determine the best options for various loads. I am very happy that the clothes in this front loader don't come out tangled and there is never any lint. I am thrilled with this purchase. It washes very well and it is efficient with it's use of power and water. I have been used to washing machines beeping to announce they have finished. This one doesn't. It is not an issue for me - just different.

As good as I could hope – This is my first front loader and I was worried about all of the negative things other reviewers had said, like, cardboard towels! My clothes have not been stiff at all, and, while I am still getting used to this machine, it cleans really well even with a liquid and low heat setting. Clothes dry really quickly too which is another bonus. Yes,… Read more ·  1

it does sound like it might take off during the spin cycle (I mean loud like a plane, not bumpy and moving around), but I don't have it in my bedroom or loungeroom, so who cares? Would I buy this machine again? Yes. Great great warranty, which suggests it is not going to break down for six years!
