Hozelock Ultimate Hose

It was great for just under four years, but it is now cracked and shoots water out of various spots. This is disappointing as it has a 30 year warranty and didn't even make it to five years (and claiming on the warranty seems difficult or impossible unless the warranty was registered within 30 days of purchase). When it worked it was great, which is why I have given this review two stars rather than one. Show details
A quality product – Having moved into a new home, for expediency, I purchased a Pope Hose from the local Bunnings store. It was absolute rubbish. I returned to the fold and bought several Hoselink hoses and fitting kits. Fantastic although a clight occasional leak at the o ting interface due to extreme pressure at my home. The Pope hose burst after an hour! After much time the Hoselink is still going strong even though it carries mains pressure 24/7. Show details
Second hose from hozelock – Bought my first 30m hozelock about 4 years ago and cannot fault what they proclaim. It faces the west in Perth so It catches a lot of sun. Bought another yesterday online as these big retailers prefer Nylex and Pope. Well, they both go brittle and hard . This one will face the north and I feel comfortable it will outlast the above. 30mts on a… Read more
simple u shaped holder is so simple to put back. The trick with all hoses is to wind back without Kinks..Best hose I have come across esp. for hoses in the sun, they dont go hard or brittle and the connections I have never replaced.
Fantastic hose, But – This is simply a fantastic hose. Rarely if ever kinks and if it does you simply give the hose a “whip” and it magically unkinks!! We have had our hose for well over 10 years and it’s still performs perfectly. BUT recently we have noticed that the surface of the hose is beginning to breakdown and it is become sticky/tacky to the touch, such a pity otherwise it would have been a perfect hose. Show reply
Impressed up to now – This hose is a lot more flexible and kink-resistant than any hose I've previously owned and I am very impressed so far. It was relatively expensive but looks as if it could be worth the extra money. I have subtracted one star because the connectors supplied are complete rubbish. Show details · 2
Excellent hose – A quick Google search for Hozelock Ultimate Garden Hose will find other dealers that sell Hozelock Ultimate Hose and also have plenty of stock for instant shipping. One at the top of the Google list that I found in Sydney, Rock Around The Block, has lots of stock & a larger range of Ultimate garden hoses. They told me they sell lots to Councils &… Read more
car yards. They have been around for 35 years well before Bunnings started in the Eastern states. I phoned them and they certainly have rare product knowledge which was spot-on. I bought online. They ship Australia-wide. My 50m x 12.5mm Hozelock Ultimate hose came within days. I wanted 50m but this is not available through Bunnings. We have never had a hose that is so good. It is amazingly light and flexible. It is easily visible, when in use.
Excellent hose, difficult to find – The Hozelock Ultimate Hose (the one with iconic yellow tubing) is easily the best hose we have bought. Most garden hoses in Australia justifiably get average or poor ratings, but Hozelock really does stand out above them -- not perfect, just much better. In fact, we discovered that Hozelock Ultimate is apparently the top selling hose in the UK… Read more · 1
(where the company is headquartered) and has the highest customer ratings of any hoses sold on Amazon UK. The product is apparently made at Hozelock's factory in France.
Background: We bought a 15m and 30m (12.5mm diameter) Hozelock Ultimate last month through a Bunnings special order, and also own a 15m Hozelock that was randomly bought 2.5 years ago during the Masters shutdown sale. We hadn't heard of Hozelock before then. We currently also own a high-end Pope 30m hose (now replaced), a 15m Pope bendable-type hose (what's left of it is also replaced), and a Neta Platinum 30m (still in use).
The Hozelock Ultimate is tough and kink resistant, yet lighter than most other top-end hoses we have owned. While replacing our older 30m Pope with the 30m Hozelock on an open reel last month, I estimated the Hozelock is about 20%-25% lighter. Hozelock Ultimate has a 30 year guarantee, but I'm skeptic of any hose guarantees. The products we bought come with fittings, including an "Aqua stop" connector -- water shuts off when spray gun is removed.
The Hozelock Ultimate 15m hose bought from Master 2.5 years ago remains in excellent condition even though it is used daily and lays out on the open brick patio (partly under shade and partly in sun). You can kink it by hand, but it springs back with no apparent residual bend in the tubing. I have never seen it pinch by twisting; in fact, I don't recall it ever twisting. The hose has not bulged/swelled or come loose from its fitting (the usual removable clamping screw-on type) -- two problems we had with a pricey Pope flex-type hose. No hose is perfect, but even the heavy non-flex garden hoses we've bought start to show signs of permanent kink, twist, or brittleness after 3 years in Perth weather. Not the Hozelock, so far.
What's wrong with the Hozelock Ultimate hose? The biggest drawback is finding the product in OZ. As mentioned, we bought our 15m and 30m Hozelock Ultimate hoses as a special order from Bunnings. Also sold by one eBay and one Amazon OZ seller. Bunnings monopoly doesn't help, but they really should add Hozelock and boot out one of the other hose brands. I also suspect that any garden hose is eventually going to have weak kink areas unless they are stiff as steel, but Hozelock Ultimate doesn't show any signs of weakening...yet. Fingers crossed.
