HTC Desire 510

Ok basic phone – This was my first smart phone and I've had it close to 3years now. I don't use smart phones heavily, so it has suited my needs. But as others have said in its review, it can lag with some of the heavier newer apps. It has also survived a few drops onto a hard floor, and an accidental run through my washing machine (immediately removed battery, let it dry in dry rice). I've found it good value.

Get what you pay for – Bought this about 2 years ago and recently switched to a new phone so I think I can provide a pretty good review. First thing: it lags and it lags a lot. Don't bother trying to run anything remotely extensive because it will cause your phone to freeze. Second thing: the camera quality is poor, images seem much duller than in real life. Positives: good battery life, quick charge, nice feel, 4g, affordable

Do not bother – This phone is slow, the display is poor and the charge port can let moisture in causing components close by to short causing total failure. After sales is poor, to repair will cost as much as the phone if not more. Battery life poor and processor is very slow. The only thing good about it is the rear cover which has a nice feel and grip to stop it falling out of your hands.

Super fragile. The smallest crack will render your screen unusable – I was in need of a phone. After reading some reviews online and stumbling across this phone i decided that the lack of a decent camera, flash or decent display was not a problem. The main feature i bought it for was the blue tick and 4g. So, I bought a HTC desire 510 from the local telstra shop a couple of months ago and dropped it the same afternoon. It got the smallest crack in the bottom corner of the screen. No big deal right? Now just yesterday my screen decides to play dead, i can see everything clearly but the touch has decided to only be detected randomly. I returned to the telstra shop and was told that the physical damage is the culprit here. I took my old ZTE phone with a shattered screen out of my pocket and demonstrated that it still works, I then remove my daughters shattered ipod from my pocket and show that it still works. Long story short i stuck it back in my pocket and walked to the next shop and bought a new non HTC handset. There is no way i want something this fragile in my pocket.
Top end spec in the mid range market at low end price – I had been looking for a new phone for my son and had been having a bit of a look at various HTC models. I was initially going to buy 2nd hand and found the Desire 510 at such a low price on eBay it could not be ignored ($175). We read a few average reviews and thought we'd give it a go for the price. The phone is so good that I have decided not not put up with the annoying things in my old phone (different model) and swap to a new Desire 510.
Bad things: only one really, the screens have a definite blue cast, which you can see, but live with.
OK Things: Camera is 5Mp and no flash, It's not light weight
Good things: Good feel, 4G, quad processor, big battery, can record HD video, micro SD slot
For such a low price new, this phone cannot be ignored if you are happy to do without a few higher end luxuries.
I give it a 4 star rating on the basis it is a low end phone.
