Very fragile, poor warranty service – I purchased this phone 12 months ago to replace my HTC One that stopped working after 2 years. I was generally happy with HTC U Utra, however I found the phone to be extremely slippery. I dropped it a few months ago and although it was in it's protective cover the corner of the screen cracked damaging the LCD panel. Now some 6 months later the… Read more
phone has stopped working. I am very disappointed at how fragile this phone is. Something this awkwardly sized and slippery should not break completely when dropped from waist height. I pled my case to HTC customer service but they refused to even look at the phone without charging me $49. They claim that any physical damage voids the warranty. This doesn't sound like it fits with Australian consumer law to me. I might take it further but am not sure if it is worth the trouble.
Black Friday bargain still going strong – My wife's mobile needed an upgrade (old Sony Experia Arc), so was able to pick this up during the 2017 Black Friday sale at JB Hi-Fi. From memory, this originally retailed at around $1000 but picked it up for under $400. Was recommended by a friend and could not be happier for the price - easy to use (we were already used to Android) with a large… Read more
screen - it has replaced our landline and most of our internet browsing is primarily through the phone now... Kids (and parents!) also love being able to use it for games (both educational and for entertainment). Recommended.
Am i the only one having problems with U ultra? – Big fan of Htc i loved U ultra from first sight!it felt too big to hold at first but now i cant imagine having a smaller size phone.I like second screen and find it usefull to call people with just one click!Absolutely in love with finferprint unlock on the phone and most apps, saves time and provides greater security!Easy to use, takes good photos… Read more
and plays music pretty loud if you want! However, almost from the very beginning phone started playing up in many different ways!In six month it melted 3 charges!I didnt believe it first when found cable burned but next time i was witnessing it,being plugfed in for few minutes it overheated, started beeping loudly and smoke was coming out!Very dangerous indeed!Sometimes screen shuts off, goes black and no matter what you press it wont turn back on straight away,so too bad if its emergency and you need to make a call:(Battery life is short if you use it a lot however with the right cable it will charge in half an hour to full!Super quick!Phone also freezes from time to time and closes apps so have to start over:)Video camera keeps focusing leaving your videos smugged and foggy so have to turn off auto focus every time manually at the start of recording:(Back of phone is glass and very pretty however one day left it with no cover and my little son dropped it,it cracked all over, put the cover back on and not taking it off cause that glass gonna sprinkle out!Anyway, just six month since the purchase i ve got a broken, dangerous not properly functioning phone which i still like!I would exchange it for another one but they stopped releasing that model and not sure if i can prove for warranty its faulty since it has been dropped and shattered
Good in overal, great if I have option to use stock android lockscreen – The phone is good in overal, considering I didn't pay much for it ($360), it packs with good spec, run smooth, bright screen although the camera is not as good as Google camera and the lockscreen just default to this camera only. Battery life is average whihc is not my concern. Show details
Love this phone – I have a HTC It never fails, massive screen, and also brilliant sound quality. The only down fall is, is that it does't have a head phone whole in it, to plug your head phones in. However I think you can get adaptors for it. which is brilliant and awesome! Show details
Oversized and mediocre – The phone performs well and convenient with the finger scan feature, but the touch screen can play up. Suited for the office environment otherwise a big and cumbersome. Camera quality is good, but it's screen features are not naturally intuitive. Android software works well with this phone's capabilities and can suit developers. Show details
Great phone for the price – Bought this phone from JbHiFi 3 months before . Overall A high end Phone with shiny looks. Pros: 5.7" Screen, Quad Display, 4gb Ram, Snap Dragon 821. Cons: No Headphone Jack, Only 3000 mah Battery, Glass back, Too Big for a single hand to hold on for long. I dont know whether the 2nd screen is good or bad, But I don't use it much. Show details
Ok phone – I buy and sell a lot of phones, didn't keep this one for long. The screen was excellent battery life wasn't that good. The phone is great value for money over all. The size off the phone is huge, that's the only reason i didn't keep it for long. If you like big phones, this is one for you. Show details
Very easy phone to use! – This phone is very easy to use with the interface included and will be picked up by any user easily. The price on this phone compared to other similar models is very attractive and for the money, the value is great. I will easily get two days use out of the battery for this phone. Show details
Good but not best – Great phone. It has everything. Good camera. Good battery. etc. I find the top second screen a bit unneccessary and probably added to the cost and also made the bottom screen not as big. I would preferred to have a bigger overall screen. But i cant complain. It's not cheap either Show details
Great phone – I have been using it for one month. Very happy with my choice. The camera can take continued photos, so we can pick the best later or keep them all It has big screen, big space for your apps and photos and i got it for a great price with Vodafone plan. Show details
Great phone, right price – Bought this phone about 4 months ago. I previously had an HTC ond m9 and just like this new phone I'm totally satisfied. It has Android O, front facing and powerful speakers and sleek design. The only small thing is that battery lasts a is a little bit less than the previous model. I can still use the phone for the whole day , listen to podcasts at work and text and by the time I get home I will still have around 25% battery. Show details
Very nice phone and good value for money – A large screen phone with 4 microphones for making the best videos. Photos are sharp and utilise a special laser to focus on objects. The device is fast and comes with HTC's own assistant. There is no headphone port but nowadays this should not be a problem with bluetooth headphones. In conclusion, great and awesome phone. At last, Something Nice & Easy – Finally I had enough money to buy myself a decent phone. I have never had such an up to date item that is so easy. I love all the different things it does like dual screen, speech recognition and so forth, I will definitely stay with HTC mobile phones now Show details
A solid phone and an elegant design – Right off the bat I will say this phone doesnt feature an audio jack which is very frustrating to a reguilar consumer. The camera is immaculate but the one proble,m with its auto focus is it is in a bad spot. The sound is above average in general but for a HTC it is less than average, It features a secondary display which is cool and has dual… Read more
microphones. It charges via a USB-C cable which are hard to come by but it comes with a case straight out of the box which has protected it many many times All in all an elegant looking phone nice to hold and use. butr lacking for the better term "common sense in design
Powerful phone on the market – what can i say, i had the m8 version loved that phone had it for years but it was getting really old so i thought i would upgrade to the new series since i missed out on the m9,10, i was blown away by the speed of the phone and battery life havent had a problem with it i could go on and on about the phone but i highly recommend it to anyone who wants a fast phone that will last years. Plug and Play what a joke! – This is my fourth HTC phone over the last 10 years; so you could say I am a fan. Well no more; the inability for HTC to offer accessories, eg replacement head phones along with unable to supply the USB-C to 3.5 adapter, I was directed to the US site you charged me $46AU postage to send this tiny little plug; Ok; the phone is fine, not great… Read more
it OK; so I give it 4 stars; So bottom line is don't buy a HTC, for the simple reason is the after sales customer service is so bad. Imagine the issues if you need to make a warranty claim.
Thanks!
Reliability – It's reliable, but it's hard to unlock and touchy with the messageing part of it. I'd like it to be a bit louder with the ringtone. I've been very happy with the overall phone. I haven't used a lot of the features it has. The photos are good. Happy to recommend to friends Show details
Simply a Beautiful Phone – I think htc make an excellent product, and this is my 4th one. Previous to this I had an htc One M8 which lasted me nearly three years of heavy business use and many months of overseas holidays. Twice during its life it got wet, stopped working but like Lazarus it come back to life after a few days drying out. I've read a few reviews of the U… Read more
Ultra and it seems that most of them rely on either reading specs, an un-boxing, a few days use or a combination. Frankly, I don't get the load of negative comments over things like being made from glass, no 3.5mm jack, USB-C or the 3000 mha battery. I am finding the U Ultra to be an excellent choice. 4000 mha spec means crap if the phone is a heavy power user. Today I had an average amount of calls. Around 20 texts and 25 minutes of you-tube. At 4 pm I had 51% of power left and I have BT and Mobile Data running full-time. The 3.5mm jack is old technology. I'm a bass player and I use Shure 535 in-ears as ear phones. They are easily better than the ear phones htc has supplied but the htc ones are a very good 2nd. Beside, an adaptor from 3.5mm to USB-C cost me $4.50 on ebay. An adaptor from micro USB to USB-C cost me $2.50. Remember, these aren't needed, they are for just in case.
I'm 180 cm's tall with a hand size to match. It's a big phone but not too big for me to use one handed. Of course, the M8 was easier but at my age my eyes could use the bigger screen. After a months use, my only bug is the screen can be a little insensitive (without a screen cover). Tapping something sometimes needs two or three touches. On the other hands, the fingerprint scanner is very sensitive and works immediately. I love it!
Other than that I can highly recommend this phone.
PS I bought a grey import.
