Very disappointing – Will not be able to sign in on service NSW, even with huawei app for this site useless in today's climate of checking in storing digital lisence etc, waste of money Show details
A great camera and Phone but with a word of caution – We bought this to replace a previous Mate 20 Pro (which had a damaged screen) simply because of the camera but in most other respects it is a great phone with good battery life, a sturdy design and some nice features. The display is crisp and bright, the facial recognition (for security) works flawlessly and speeds up use and it's been free of… Read more
crashed or any issues since being purchased in early June.
The only real downside, relates to the on-going squabble between the manufacturer and the US government which means that access to Google anything on the phone is non existent. This was a bit of an issue early on but the Huawei play store equivalent is rapidly rolling out 'essential' apps so that things like Facebook, Microsoft Office and WhatsApp can still be loaded and function perfectly and their migration tool also allows successful cloning of apps from your current phone which also helps.
Having said that, there will probably be apps from the Google World that don't have equivalents so it would be wise to check if your favourites are a known issue.
An Excellent Phone – The Huawei P40 Pro is an excellent phone The screen, hardware, ease of use, speed, quality and camera are exceptional another one of the best things about the P40 Pro is there are no google services which i love. Android is actually better without google services and Huawei make it easy to customise the p40 pro with apps of your choice and once… Read more
you do you realise you never needed Google in the first place. Phones without google are perfect, Once the annoyances of google are gone you are left with a version of android that is clean and an enjoyment to use.
Crapware better known as installed Apps like Facebook, Twitter and other worthless apps can be fully uninstalled from the phone which is another bonus with hauwei. Everything including every app can be disabled and removed from the phone giving you better privacy and a better user experience.
The camera on the P40 pro is without any doubt the best on the market, image and video quality and night photography is outstanding the photos look so good. 30X zoom photos capture high quality images, they actually look incredible, beyond 30X zoom images do loose quality but are still useable.
The P40 pro is one of the best phones on the market its a no brainer, if you buy this phone you are going to be happy.
Best camera and great phone – This is my third Huawei phone (previously Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro). Each year, they just keep getting better. I like photography and Chinese manufacturers seem to make the best small cameras (among the top rankings on independent Dxomark.com rankings too). As well as taking great photographs, the device makes phone calls, connects to internet etc.… Read more
The newest Huawei phones have the open-source android operating system but no Google software. Some apps are not available or don't work but that is not a problem to me (although I appreciate it might be an issue for some people). Many of my favourite apps are available from other sources. Most of what I want to do on the internet can be done using the web browser. Better still, I am not being tracked by Google all the time - it has given me a feeling exuberant freedom. Being ungoogled has turned out to be an advantage as far as I am concerned. I have just one reservation about this phone - in order to get all the great photography components into the phone, they have made it a little larger than my previous Huawei phone, only about 8% but it's probably about as large as I would want to carry in my pocket. But if they keep making such great devices, I'll probably be seduced into buying a newer model in the future. No wonder the Americans are frightened of Huawei - there are no American-made phones in the same league as my Huawei P40 Pro.
