Concept 1 ans 2 fans – Had a bedroom renovation done a few years ago. The electrician recommended the hunter concept fans. That was 5 years ago. That fan is still actually working. So a few years later brought 4 more fans. Out of those four two will not even turn on now or just go slow. Hunter pacific sent out a new capacitor to replace. But it’s not a field… Read more

replaceable part. Never buy these fans again. I’m looking for alternatives. Each fan cost over $200 each so $400 up the swannie

I will get new capacitors – I bought 8 Typhoon plastic 52" moulded 5 years ago. 7 started going slow about 3 years ago, and now very slow so I phoned Sarah at Hunter Pacific on 02 96581958, I sent her the receipt and she will be sending me 7 capacitors. I unfortunately have to pay my electrician. The fans are quiet and work well. She understood the problem well and made the… Read more

correct decision. A.L.B. said out of warranty, I would have to pay for replacements. They are 6 weeks out of warranty.

Never Again – The capacitor could not cope with the 52-inch blades so Hunter Pacific replaced them with 42-inch blades. The capacitor barely copes with the 42-inch blades on the slowest speed - barely! In 2017 rust has been discovered on the blade edges. The 52 inch model was bought on special (lesson learned) at Jindalee, Qld.  Show details

6 of 7 were faulty – we bought 7 of these fans becauase they were well rated by choice magazine, once all installed two would not turn on and then over the next 18 months we found 3 were noisy and making noises they should not be making and one went the same slow speed no matter what setting it was on. We paid about $300 for each fan and then for installation on top of that. Would not buy Hunter pacific fans again.  Show details

Never Again! – I bought a Hunter Pacific "Attitude" fan with remote for close to $420,00 and at the same time three "cheapies" for around $50.00 each. The cheap fans just keep on going but the "hardly used" Attitude fan seams to have just that - having broken down twice. Trying to get a warranty claim I found to be a nightmare only to be told (without… Read more

inspecting the fan) that "after diagnosis, can confirm the remote receiver has failed. As there is only 2 years warranty on these you will need to purchase a replacement (PN a1506) from your nearest specialist light shop". So much for the five year warranty!

Should have read the reviews first and bought four "Cheapies" from China!

Solid good looks, good quality, inludes wall switch (no remote needed) – I bought this fan 6 months ago and I couldn't be happier. First, it's very solid, nice thick metal, wooden blades. It works very well, no noise, decent air flow. It has a very nice high quality look about it, people note it when they come into the room. Even more important, it comes with a convenient wall switch, which needs no batteries, you… Read more

can never lose it and it never breaks (and if it does, you can easily find a replacement). This is a big plus over DC fans, which don't run without a remote control (and remotes will fail one day or get lost and then you may not find a replacement and then you have to throw the whole fan out).

Finally, it is easier (and safer) to install than any other fan I have installed. That was a relief because I had to install it on a high ceiling.

Dangerous – We bought a 4 of these fans. They are hideously expensive. But because we live near the ocean we needed a marine grade fan that won't rust. We have had the fans for 6 years, 4 years ago they started to rust, phoned them, not our problem they said. Today 1 of the fan blades fell off on top of my glass table. Gratefully it didn't break. We had… Read more

someone come out to inspect & when the fan was taken down it became apparent that another blade was ready to drop. The screws ( which are supposed to be stainless steel) had eroded & snapped.

We rent our house for holiday rentals & it makes me sick to think that had that fan been going it could have killed someone or smashed our glass doors to pieces. Be very wary. I will take this up with Hunter Pacific & the Ombudsman, but of course it won't be there problem.

Never again – Lasted less than 18 months - and not used very often. Although 2 year in home warranty on the fan - customer support without inspecting the fan said it was definitely the remote receiver that has broken and it only has a 1 year warranty - they have not proof it is the remote but if we get them out to inspect and it is the remote receiver then who… Read more

knows how much extra it will cost us. What a piece of junk. The previous fan was there for close to 10 years - it was a cheap fan (~$50) and we only replaced it because we wanted the fans to match a new one. Thought we would buy a better name one to give us more certainty it would last - but only 18 months. Hunter Pacific would not even tells us how much the new part would be so we could work out if we should fix or replace. '

Do yourself a favour and don't buy a Hunter Pacific product. I understand sometimes a product can be faulty but a supplier like Hunter Pacific who is trying to put themselves out there as a quality product andst charges likewise should support any occassional early failures..... I suppose unless they are not so uncommon and to support all their early failures would send them broke..... in which case steer clear!!

Hunter Pacific Typhoon 2 Very Dangerous. Chinese Copies Au Markings – Just had a new fan installed. It wobbled could not balance it properly but was ok. Day 2 starts ticking call sparky later I heard a pop no lights, go check the fuse box fuse tripped reset come back up and there is a scorch mark under fan. Sparky discovers fan has jumped out of socket and wound the power wires up till they short remount everything… Read more

and it jumps out again. These fans are no longer the real deal they are Chinese copies right down to the box and Au stickers The Sparky said the mounts were crap compared to the real one and the fan did not have a metal sleeve like the real one to stop wires from grabbing.

Tell me if there is a better word than disgusting to tell about customer service – My out door fan is less than 1 year brought from Lighting illusions rarely been used at its outside and still our deck is not done so its not used for more than 10 times i guess. It started giving off a loud noise when switched on and when contacted lighting illusions was asked to contact hunter and the level of service is awful.1st had to chase… Read more

after them and then sent a number to call for electrician called the electrician he came and said there is a gap between the motor and the wings and used pieces of cardboard to fill the gap :) wasn't happy but he said its the least he could do to contact hunter again as he dont have any washers, so contacted the customer care to get the below reply

You will need to address this with the electrician. We would have supplied all the parts needed. If he has used cardboard due to not having the correct parts you will need to call him and advise that the fan was not installed correctly and will have to come back and fix the issue.

If the problem was with the fan and the electrician to fix it was sent by them should i be the one to do this. This is still under warranty and is this the customer support and warranty they give.Such a shame which a more professional responsible person from there sees this .

Hunter Pacific – I've had the same problems as many of the other reviewers. Have had this fan in my bedroom for less than 2 years, and used it about 5 times. It was quiet the first 2 times. Now it has a tick tick tick noise like it is rubbing on something when it turns. Keeps me up so I can't use it anymore, so now I just stay hot. Not that impressed especially considering I paid more money to buy this compared to other brands.

Pray you dont need to claim warranty – My Revolution 52"x 2 fans are less than 12 months old and just stopped working. I waited 1 month for someone to return my call on there 1300 warranty line after calling 2 -3 times a week and only getting a recorded message during business hours saying complete the online form. I submitted the online form 4 times and still no response from anyone at Hunter Pacific. Great fans when they worked, just pray you never need a warranty request.

Hunter Pacific and Lighting Illusion = poor customer service! – Bought two Madagascar outdoor fans (not cheap) in Sept 2014 and one made a a grinding noise. Lighting Illusion palmed us straight on to the manufacturer saying they were really good to deal with....how wrong they were!! a service agent within 25km of our house they would send us a cheque within 4 weeks to pay for an electrician to install...well it's now Dec 2014 and still no cheque! Wont ever buy from Lighting Illusion as they just direct you to the supplier and wipe their hands of you and definitely wont buy any product from Hunter pacific

Brilliant Fans, Absolutely disgusting customer support. Hope you never need a warranty claim – I have five (yes, 5) of the typhoon fans installed in my house as replacements to other brands. All are brilliant. Last two i got with the remote. One works brilliantly. The other a complete failure. Had the sparkie there (at $120 per hour) trying to fix. Rang the 'hot line'. No answer, even after several attempts and an hour later. Finally rang… Read more

When do you give support too much information) promised to arrange a sparkie to come out to replace. Two weeks later: no go. The company totally sucks big time Non-existant customer support and post sales asupprt. And they lie.

Disappointing – I bought two of these and use them in Brisbane. Within 3 months the one in our bedroom had developed a tick that made it hard to use at night. Within 6 months some of the buttons on the remote intermittently stopped working ($60 for a very cheap looking plastic remote is ridiculous), and now after a year the speed is well down on when it was… Read more

Maybe not worth the expense if you live in the tropics – In late 2005 I made the decision to buy 9 of these expensive marine-grade fans as I live in the tropics and these suffer less rust problems. 5 years later, within 2 weeks of each other, blades dropped off two fans. When I rang HP I was told not unexpected as the two fans were on an open verandah and possibly the electrician who installed the fans… Read more

may have over tensioned the screws by using a power tool. They said they would send me 3 sets of screws to use to replace the blade. As I was nervous about the other 7 fans installed at the same time, they suggested that I get my electrician, one of their own warranty electricians, to check the condition of the others. This occurred and the next 4 fans dropped a blade while he was checking the screws with a screw driver, so now down 6 fans and nervous about the remaining three fans which "seem" OK. 5 years, $3000 down, and now replacing 6 fans plus electrician's labour, definitely not worth the expense unless money to burn.

Expensive and did not last

Amazing airflow! – Got this fan after a recommendation from my electrician and after a few months I'm still very happy. Whisper quiet, amazing airflow and really does the job without aircon in the house. Even on the lowest setting the airflow is very cool, on high it shows how it gets the typhoon name, super strong and cool, definitely don't put it on high in winter, it is freezing! Super cool air flow, even on lower settings Nothing yet

receive a confirmation email supplying the job number. Obviously this confirmation email is not automated. As I still haven't had written confirmation. At this rate How long will it take to get confirmation and a service call to fix the 52" Typhoon fan. Not impressed! Not happy Jan. Happy when it worked. It worked for less than three (3) months! Stopped working

Good – Nice package overall, unobtrusive design that isn't obvious and in your face. Optional light fitting was very easily added (with long-life fluoroscent lighting). Very quiet operation, barely audible on low, and still quiet on high. yet). The Hunter Pacific remote that came with it as part of a package does not fit perfectly in th cover. The canopy has a slight gap between it and the ceiling - you would have thought the manufacturer would have taken this into consideration when they made these products.

Really disappointing – Purchased 8 of these fans, 5 stainless and 3 white in may 2007 and have just changed out our 2nd lot of capacitors (not cheap!)for all units. they never seem to be able to operate at top speed/efficiency. they haven't been near the capacitors once. Also, the blades are rusting and this started happening only a few years after we purchased. Maybe being in a high humidity climate has contributed toward this, but again really disappointing. I wouldn't buy them again. They look nice Fan speed/ capacitors need replacing regularly, expensive process

Excellent – Awesome best fan on the market and well priced if you shop around. whisper quiet. Supurb warranty. For the guy above with the cowling not fitting correctly, call your sparky back, its the installation not the product. I have done heaps and it can be fidly but if you set it up right from the start then very easy Takes slightly longer to put together than some of the other metal blade fans but quicker than other wooden blade fans.

Keeps us cool ! – We had 3 of these placed in the upstairs bedrooms a few years back and there has been no issues. On full speed ( 3 ) the fans are fairly quite, a modern design, comes in white or silver. Never had to have air con on, these do the job fine. Easy to wipe off the dust that accumulates on edges of fan blades. Has winter option and of course keeps you cool in summer. Light on globe isn't very bright but that's ok in bedrooms,

Whisper quiet, quality fan – Well had five fans to put into the house. Fans for the bedrooms and the living areas. Researched on the web; here, with Choice. the warm air.

There is a good in home warranty service with the fans.

My ceiling doesn't run true so it was good to see that there is no vibration on the stem of the fan and the fan itself.

I bought the metal four bladed fan. There is a timber bladed fan too but went for the metal for longevity.

All up Choice Magazines did their homework. I did mine. The electricians know there business and whatever you do don't buy some cheap ceiling fan from goodness knows which discount/department store. I bought mine from an Australian online retailer and it was a GOOD price.

Now for the ceiling and roof insulation.

Thanks to Product Review, to Choice and to my electrician. All doing great work. energy efficient compared to ducted air con; whisper quiet; three speeds; reversible for winter. none to mention.

Bad – Good fans, pity about the warranty. Whisper quiet as previously stated. Watch the blades as they tend to rust after 4 years. Also watch when cleaning the blades as they are razor sharp.
