Uses a full tank of oil to half a tank of fuel. Cuts out sometimes and is hard to start warm. Off switch is easy to accidently bump and turn off while working. Cheap and has lasted me two seasons of fire wooding without a break down
Well made small saw – Great little saw for small jobs, surprised by how versatile this saw is.Nice and light smooth easy to start, just keep a check on bar oil as it can run out before petrol does apart from that a great small saw. Show details · 1
Good unit bad service – Worked great for 7 years, after this period would stop working after about 15 minutes of use, took to mower repairs and after a couple of attempts and waiting for parts over an 18 month period finally was given credit of money spent by Fast Fit Mower Repairs towards a new Honda B25. Service and parts from Husqvarna very poor, mower repairer suspects a cracked bore may have been the problem. Show details
Husqvarna supposed to be quality but this is a piece of rubbish. Avoid the brand – Bought it from Toolmart West Australia. Took it home, started it, touched a piece of soft green 3 inch she oak, safety brake mechanism separated out and jammed. Got no use from it took it back to Toolmart as it was broken on supply. Toolmart refused responsibility and said my business would have to do without a saw for at least a month while… Read more
they sent it off to be fixed. Poor quality and clearly no quality assurance testing. A brand to be avoided.
HUSQVARNA 120e Mark II "Best saw ive owned" its a gem! – Had lot's of chainsaws over the years, and after a year of use and abuse this model "120e-mark-2" is truly amazing little saw. doesn't suffer with any heat issues what so ever, always starts even when it needs a break. the muffler baffle is made to be removed and comes out easy, "i left my baffle out" saw runs all day long on 25/1 rich fuel mix.… Read more
cannot seem to kill this saw it keeps going, cut tons & tons of wood with it.
pros: love this saw, it gets on with the job and keeps going whatever, I'm buying another one even though i don't need to. this saw is far superior than its previous models, they got this model pretty much right in my book. no starting issues, just old school starting, no flooding carby issues, no heat issues, very reliable, doesn't say no, love it.
when I first got it, the saw was prone to stalling now and then, it would happen either when idling and you hit the revs or have just cut something and the revs are going back down to idle. I can say you will get a similar effect when your air-filter becomes dirty or clogged, the actual air-filter material is quite heavy and thick in this saw and it does not really take that much before it needs cleaning. and stalling out is a good symptom that it needs a clean. I wouldn't oil this filter either as it would function better dry being so thick. also clean your filter in fuel and then blow it out with compressed air.
but other than checking your air-filter, just make sure you have it dialed in right it, just twiddle those screws, set the idle and low and hi speed screws, or ask your dealer to do it for you. it will hardly ever stall out and when it does you know it's air-filter cleaning time again. to me this isn't a problem, this saw has run beautiful the past year I've had it, and it's my go to saw I use all the time, it cuts nothing but green or dead dry hardwood, iron bark and blue gum, and its cuts until the chain goes dull every time, which is about 4 to 6 tanks of fuel depending on what I'm cutting. I'm sorry i just love this thing.
Also the oiler works great and keeps that bar nicely lubed. never been a problem.
cons: 1, having to use the chain break tool to put the chain cover back on is a pain, but not a real problem. 2, would like to access the air filter easier, without having to take 3 x screws out, but again not a real problem.
great saw Husqvarna stick with it.
Amazing little saw! – Awesome little saw, picked it up for $249 and a bottle of husky 2 stroke oil which bumped the warranty up to 5 years domestic. Having had a Stihl ms170 which is also a great homeowner saw I decided to try the Husky and boy was I impressed. Easy to start from the get go,and cuts like butter,it's very comfortable and has way better vibration… Read more
dampening over the Stihl and a touch more power too,it has a way better air filter system than the ms170,the only let down with the Stihl ms 170 is the bad air filter system which lets fine particles through to carby no matter what. It revs so smooth, and is nice all round. If you use this for what it is intended for you wont have any dramas (not cutting 25" logs and then complaining it's crap) get a bigger saw Look after it with good fresh fuel,I run 40:1 (bit richer) and keep chain sharp and you'll have no issues Very happy
Not Happy with Chain saw or Warranty and Dealer service :( – Purchased a Mark 120 Husquarna Chain saw 3 months ago. Had several issues with it. 1. Hard to start once it's hot. I read other reviews saying the same thing AFTER I bought it. 2. In trying to start it when it doesn't want to. the start pull chain was worn out or damage so it couldn't be used. The Husquarna dealer in Cannonvale said no warranty… Read more
because I am tall and must be pulling it too much out?! (Didn't realise you had to be a midget to use it and get warranty honoured.) 3. Uses 2 tanks of oil for 1 tank of petrol. Should be the other way around. 4. Chain pops out a few times after using for just a few minutes. All these problems I read had been talked about by other buyers. Had issues with the same brand mower as well and its always YOUR fault not the products. Will never buy from this brand or this dealer again. All this overheat should have been a quick $60 worth of warranty fix. Not happy at all.
Very poor from new, almost unusable after a few months – I've had two larger Husqvarna saws for 14 years which are still going strong, and got a 120 as I needed a lightweight saw for small jobs on steep slopes. Straight off the shelf it was prone to stalling, but that improved over the first 2 tanks of fuel. The big problems started only the 4th time I used it. It would start fine when cold, but as soon… Read more
as it was up to temp it refused to prime.
The dealer I bought it from (Cooroy Outdoor Power) claimed the problem was caused by "old fuel" (the fuel was just days old and ran perfectly fine the same day in my 365) and charged me $80, returning it with the chain far too tight. There was no change to the problem, which has now rapidly worsened to the point of being almost unusable. The clutch is now also failing. This is clearly a defective unit, but I have no faith in Cooroy Outdoor Power to do the right thing and will have to just write it off. I will never set foot in that store again, and if this is what Husqvarna consider appropriate quality now then it's the last time I buy one.

Tweaking the saw performance – Just a follow up on the original article that I wrote in April 2021: Opening the high speed mixture adjustment screw (Port "H" on the attached photo) by an 1/8 of a turn solved the full throttle speed fade out issue that I was suffering. The chain saw now runs beautifully! Starting was never a problem and was unaffected by high speed mixture… Read more
adjustment. I obtained the so called tamperproof factory issue mixture adjustment female splined screw driver from e-bay for the princely sum of $9.00 (see attached P.O).. The mixture adjustment screws are short a male splined shaft so you need the special screw driver for carby mixture adjustments. By the way, Port "L" provides access to the low speed mixture adjustment screw and Port "T" provides access to the idle mixture screw. T One other recommendation to users of this product, log spike fixing screws ALWAYS come loose after a few hours of work. Once the screws are loose, the plastic holding lugs snap and there is no way of re-attaching the log spike......... I learnt this lesson from the forerunner of this chain saw being the Mc Cullock 2214AV but unfortunately Husqvana have not improved the design / build. The annoying problem is easily fixed by removing the log spike attachment screws and re-fixing them in position using full strength Loctite adhesive (making sure that surfaces are firstly cleaned with acetone). Its still a great chain saw for its price and I can recommend it to the home owner who regularly goes off-road camping and seeks firewood for logs up to 250 - 300 mm diameter.
June 2025 We'll folks, 4-years has passed since my last review and I'm happy to report that the chainsaw (Hussy 120e Mark 2) is still performing beautifully and has exceeded my wildest expectations. Since its purchase in 2019 it has cut up an estimated 40 m3 Australian hardwood in diameters up to 320 mm. The only remedial work that need to be done to the chainsaw during this time was a couple of dust filter cleans and refixing of spark plug high tension lead into the helicoil spike that sits inside the rubber spark plug boot. My guess was that the vibration worked the spark plug lead from of the helicoil spike but it was an easy but fiddly job done at home. I've also increased the petrol to oil ration to 30:1 and am using Mobile Premium Plus 2-cycle oil as this is what I use for my boat engine (Merc V6 - 150 H.P). The oil is a bit more expensive than the lesser grades but I haven't had any spark plug fouling issues nor have I had to change the spark plug in 6-years of service. I don;t know what the piston crown looks like as I haven't had to dismantle the engine. The attached photos show the results of the latest wood run. I can highly recommend thais chainsaw and if I destroyed or lost it, would have no hesitation in purchasing the same again. Hope this post helps with your selection.
Poor instructions and performance is average – I’d have been struggling without the help of YouTube as the instruction book and set up guide are absolutely useless. A quality picture guide with a set-up procedure would have helped. The fuel to oil ratio is confusing as is the chain tension process. Once set-up it works okay but not what I expected, lesson leant I think.. Show details
Running rich with oil – From the moment I first started the Mark II oil flicked all over the timber I was cutting, as I was new to owning a chainsaw I asked around to see if that was normal. Should use a tank of fuel to half a tank of oil was what I was told. Well the Mark II I own runs a full tank of oil to half a tank of fuel. Returned it to the dealer stating there is… Read more
a problem, they agreed and replaced the pump saying sometimes they arrive in OZ with a pump designed for colder climates. When I returned with the chainsaw it ran perfect again but only for first tank of oil. It now runs out of oil again to half a tank of fuel. Went back to the dealer, they mentioned a second unit was also in with the same problem. I’m now being told by the dealer there is no problem and I’m the only one with this issue. They said Husqvarna aren’t going to do anything about it because it’s already been replaced. I feel ripped off and should have gone with Stihl!
Cheap rubbish and the warranty is rubbish – Brought the 120 only as the 130 and 135 had sold out and needed a small saw in the following week with the 576xp and 450 rancher I’ve had for years being a bit too heavy for the work I needed to do. Both of the previous saws have floating sprockets and not the fixed to clutch drum type so had no idea on this type. From the first look, it seemed… Read more
like the chain was running too close and not centered on the sprocket. It spat the chain in the first 5 hours 6-7 times which is a worry. Not really a safe thing with any saw. As it spat the chains, tightened it more than usual and the tension screw popped out and ruined the tension adjustment. So resorted to tensioning with a screw driver to push the bar out. That was in the first 2 hours of using the saw. Within the next 5 hours, power in the unit dropped by atleast 30%. Have taken it back to Brisbane Mowers and Power Equipment for warranty but got the feel I was going to be charged. I did run a chain blunt after getting the sheets with it, and at the shop sounded like that was what was going to be the reason for me apparently neglecting the saw and being up for new parts and other. This thing just ain’t up to a hard days work. Lets see how it goes over the next week. My opinion, it’s a weekend garden tool and introduced to the market as a cheap option to keep up with Bunnings. Will keep you updated. I brought the saw just over a month ago so no way the 5 year warranty is gonna make it. UPDATE- paid $170 after a warranty return. After getting it back can’t adjust the chain as there is clearly an issue with the cheap plastic adjuster that has failed. I’m giving up on this thing which will be a spare in the garage. The Husky warranty isn’t worth the paper. A cheap saw with poor promises and results. Buy a Stihl or Makita. This thing is cheap crap and the dealers appear to be doing whatever they can to bill Husky for repairs. Cheap rubbish.
Husqvarna Fan not so happy – I'm a long time Husky owner who has never had any issues previously & required a small saw for general use. I purchased the Husqvarna 120 instead of the Stihl MS 170 as the Husky has more grunt and better vibration dampening. It was purchased from the local Dealer on special for $249 plus a spare chain & files. A pretty good deal if it worked… Read more
well. When it runs well the saw is good. The initial tuning was very poor. The saw lacked power, kept flooding and was extremely hard to restart after it warmed up. After a re-tune from the Dealer the saw has performed ok for the first half of a tank of fuel before it sucks air & stops. If the tank is kept full, the saw runs ok. I did check the pickup wasn't caught up. So its back to the dealer for now. Pretty poor. Note: The dealer has been been good so far in promptly attending the issues.
Pros Power when it runs Vibration dampening is good
Cons reliability weight- heavier than rivals
