Terrible mattress. Sagging bad – Just like other reviewers it started really good. We were very happy with it but within 1 year it sagged terribly and started giving us terrible back and neck pains. I've called ikea 6 time and been on hold for hours to get this sorted. Sent emails with photos of the 4.5cm sag which is really substantial for a non-pillowtop latex mattress.… Read more
Evertime I'm told someone will get in touch but its been over a month and no resolve. I'm lodging a formal complaint with ACCC and Fair Trading.
Started to sag after just one year - warranty was not honoured – We bought two of these mattresses. Absolutely loved them at first but just after the first year of use one of them started to collapse in the middle. By four years it had become so bad we couldn’t sleep on it anymore. You could see the dip just looking at it. Contacted IKEA, followed warranty procedure but were eventually told it wasn’t covered as… Read more
the sagging and indent was normal and to be expected. (I have since learned that many latex and foam mattress brands’ warranties only cover a dent of a 3cm or more which is huge.) So beware - 25 year warranty does not mean 25 years of retaining shape. In this case we got 4 before we had to replace it at our expense.
Great mattress, very good value, highly recommended – Mattresses are very personal items, so whilst one might tend to go for a handmade mattress from a local supplier, after owning a KingKoil mattress for only 3 years and having it fall apart, I decided to take a calculated risk and purchase from a reputable multinational brand, IKEA. The service was no fuss, as I had previously tried out the… Read more
mattress a few times in store, so I knew the MORGEDAL was for me.
The king size (180x200cm) does not come roll packed, but IKEA offer competitively priced next day delivery, and the mattress is well packaged with stiff cardboard protecting the sides, and thick plastic covering the whole mattress. Four sturdy handles and stitched into the sides which make moving the mattress easy. The cover also zips off and can be machine washed at 60°C to kill dust mites, and to keep your mattress fresh. Once unpacked, the latex foam mattress does emit a smell which at first appears strong, but disappears after a day or two. Leaving the mattress uncovered speeds this up, as does vacuuming the mattress to draw fresh air through the foam.
The mattress is firm and wonderfully supportive. If you find the mattress too firm you can exchange it once within the first 12 months to another mattress. If you decided to swap, and your new mattress is cheaper, IKEA refund the difference (with store credit) or you pay the extra if it's more. That's a pretty good deal. My bed frame does not have flexible slats, so I will be changing these to give the mattress a little more give, but the firmness of the foam is excellent. The mattress is protected by a 25 year guarantee, that is straight forward. IKEA has a commitment to quality, and making affordable bedding and mattresses suitable for allergy sufferers.
Great value, firm latex support, excellent warranty and exchange policy (for IKEA Family members - free to join) and a removable, 60°C machine washable cover... Brilliant!
