Spring burst - IKEA terrible customer service – We purchased 3 IKEA Sultan Hamnvik mattresses. 2 are fine, however one of the mattresses burst its spring. This resulted in a large bulge on the mattress (Clearly a product fault issue). I called IKEA to organise a replacement as they advertise a 25 year warranty. I was disgusted at the quality of the customer service. This warranty is a… Read more

complete sham - they didn't replace the mattress. BUYER BEWARE - POOR QUALITY AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM IKEA AGAIN.

Cannot fault - brilliant for the money – I have owned top brand mattresses before and was skeptical a cheaper mattress would be any good. I bought this mattress for my young son to sleep on, and for me to sleep on when kids are sick and need their mum to be close:). I was impressed from day one. I have a history of a bad back and have not had any trouble. I would recommend the firm for… Read more

the support.

My husband recently spent thousands on a famous mattress from a large department store - I personally am a Convert to Ikea mattresses. I think expensive does not guarantee better. I was annoyed that I couldn't flip the precious expensive "posture" mattress as it reduces its life.

Try before you buy, and you can always return it. So what have you got to lose?

This is a great mattress – Have had it at least 5 years and still really comfortable. Maybe newer version not as good judging from the reviews. Am on my way to IKEA for another mattress and hoping to find one of similar quality.  Show details

Worst bed Sultan Hamnvik- has caused huge back, neck and body pain – May-day, May-day-Mattress is not comfortable nor supportive, have slept on bed less than 15 days and wake up each day with back in spasms, sore, and in pain. Turned bed around, because one side is caved in like a crater-land there was a hump in middle, tried other side now for 6 nights, same thing, new side like a crater and hump still in middle-… Read more

Have tried sleeping on the hump-no go. Please Ikea honour the return, I cannot sleep on it anymore, the couch would be better. Am Visiting from another country for one year and have only here 16 days and my body is a wreck from the bed, never have experienced this in my life. Not sure when bed was purchased, looks like new. Please help Ikea, please honour your bed policy, I offer it to you to sleep in, please come and get it.

Didn't last at all – I bought the Sultan Hamnvik matress from IKEA in Portugal for my holiday home. After 4 and a half years of occasional use the matress has burst its sides. I am an average weighing man with normal sleep habits. Trying to get IKEA to live up to their guarentee!!!!

I love this mattress – I guess mattresses are subjective if you go by the reviews for this one. For myself, I love it. Have had it for about four or five years. So comfortable and firm, no posture/ back issues for me. It was middle of the range in price as I recall - good pocket springs but not the most expensive they had at the time (which was all natural fibres like… Read more

horsehair or something - I thought about it but found it smelly and didn't like the idea of all those horses donating their hair... which horses? were they just haircuts or horse cullings?). I don't like the pillow top mattresses as I find them too hot - this one has a latex top and with the airflow through springs, I find it perfect; no waking up in the night overheated. I bought my son a similar mattress recently as I've been so happy with this one - they no longer have this so I got him a Hovag. He wanted medium-firm and is very happy with it.

Excellent quality for money – I´ve had this mattress for 4 years now and i am very very pleased I bought it... Hamnvik. we all think its the bomb

The first month was terrible (as all new beds are when you first buy them) then began the best 2+ years sleep ive had so far. I have friends stay over and have received the same reviews. If they still made it, would continue recommending it to people.

we must have gotten super lucky, don't understand the bad reviews.

It gives me back pain – I've had this mattress for a year now, and I have had back pain ever since I got the mattress. Initially, I didn't realize the back pain was caused by the mattress, but I noticed the inconsistency of the tension of the springs, so I bought a new mattress. After getting a new mattress, my back pain went away. Therefore, I am pretty certain the… Read more

Ikea mattress was the cause of my back pain. I am trying to get Ikea to take back that mattress and refund my money under their 25 year warranty. Don't know if they'll take it.

Terrible – Everytime I wake up I feel back pain, feeling tired and lazy. The more I sleep, the more tired I am. Try another mattress for your good quality of sleep. Another thing, having this mattress more than 1 year now, it just doesn't has same level of its surface, slightly collapse if you sleep on that side often. So you have to turn around and change position in a certain period of time, you can't flip the mattress and use the other side either.
