I have had an Instant Pot Duo for 5-6 years, which I have mainly used as a slow cooker. I have been very happy with it, but recently the Slow Cook function died, although the pressure cooker part still works. Because I love the stainless steel inner bowl, I decided to order the newer model Duo Plus, as I thought the Sous Vide function would be… Read more

very useful. First try, I put some shoulder pork in on Low Slow Cook. After a couple of hours, it still looked much cooler than it should have. Turned up to High Slow Cook and that didn't do much. So I pressure cooked instead. Next day I tested properly, and even on High Slow Cook it only made 77oC and all the SV and Yoghurt functions all were too low. Then the whole unit died. So I complained Kitchen Warehouse, who promptly sent me a replacement. Tested again and all the unpressurized functions are not working properly, very similar results. So I have requested the older Duo Plus as a replacement. The Duo Plus is dangerous. Imagine putting your ingredients in, setting it for 8hours, low slow cook, and coming home to find your meat hasn't even got over 65oC

The Ultimate Kitchen Sidekick: How the Instant Pot Duo Plus Revolutionized Family Meals! – As a busy mom in a household of six, including five adults, two kids, and a dog, I’m always on the lookout for kitchen appliances that can simplify meal prep. The Instant Pot Duo Plus Multi-Cooker caught my eye with its promise of versatility, claiming to replace several kitchen devices in one sleek appliance. After 7 months of using it in my… Read more

hectic home, here’s my detailed review of the Instant Pot Duo Plus and how it has transformed our cooking routine.

Design and Aesthetics The Instant Pot Duo Plus boasts a modern, user-friendly design that fits seamlessly into our kitchen. Its stainless steel exterior not only looks great but is also easy to clean, which is essential when juggling meals for a busy family. The large, intuitive control panel with a bright LED display makes it straightforward to navigate the various cooking functions—even when I’m multitasking with the kids.

Versatility One of the standout features of the Duo Plus is its versatility. With 15 cooking programs, it can handle everything from pressure cooking to yogurt making. I’ve made everything from hearty soups to delicious desserts, and each dish has turned out wonderfully. The sauté function is a lifesaver; I can brown meat or veggies directly in the pot, saving both time and dishes, which is especially helpful when preparing meals for my large family.

Performance The performance of the Instant Pot Duo Plus is impressive. It heats up quickly and cooks food in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods. For instance, I recently made a big batch of chili that took only about 25 minutes from start to finish, which is a major win in my household. With five adults and two kids who are always hungry, the time-saving capabilities of this cooker have been a game changer.

Safety Features Safety is a priority in our home, especially with little ones around. The Instant Pot Duo Plus is equipped with multiple safety features, including a safety lock and pressure control, which gives me peace of mind while cooking. I can focus on preparing meals without worrying about potential hazards, even when our dog is curiously watching from the kitchen floor.

Ease of Cleaning Cleaning the Instant Pot Duo Plus is generally easy, which is a huge plus for our busy family. The stainless steel inner pot is dishwasher-safe, and the lid can be easily wiped down. However, I’ve found that if something burns or sticks, it can get quite messy and might need to soak. In those cases, I’ve had to invest in some stainless steel detergent to tackle the tougher stains. While most clean-ups are straightforward, a little soaking can help with any stubborn residue.

Recipes and Community The Instant Pot community is vast, and the wealth of recipes available online is a treasure trove for someone like me. I’ve discovered quick and easy meals that please even the pickiest eaters in my family. The recipe book that comes with the Instant Pot is also a fantastic starting point, providing inspiration for everything from weeknight dinners to meal prep for busy days.

In conclusion, the Instant Pot Duo Plus Multi-Cooker has become an essential tool in our home. Its versatility, performance, and ease of use make it a perfect fit for my busy lifestyle as a mom in a family of six. Whether I’m cooking for the kids or prepping meals for the week, the Instant Pot has made the process quicker and more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a reliable, multi-functional appliance that can help streamline your cooking routine, I highly recommend the Instant Pot Duo Plus. It has truly transformed the way we prepare meals, allowing us to spend more quality time together as a family—and even giving our dog a little extra attention during cooking sessions!

Pros and Cons

Pros: Modern, user-friendly design fits well in any kitchen Versatile with 15 cooking programs for various dishes Saves time with quick cooking capabilities Safety features provide peace of mind while cooking Easy to clean with dishwasher-safe components Vast online recipe community for inspiration

Cons: Can be tricky to clean if food burns or sticks Some tougher stains may require soaking or special cleaners Initial learning curve for new users adapting to multi-cooker functions

Enjoying using this instant pot cooker – I like this instant pot cooker. It has made preparing meals much more easier, efficient and less stressful. I make various soups, broths, rice dishes, bean stews and even cake, and it has been very easy to set it and leave it and return to a finished meal. The food is cooked well. Though rice isn't as nice as it would be if cooked in a dedicated… Read more

rice cooker. I have even used this appliance for reheating. Some things I would improve is setting the "low saute" option to a temperature that is not so high, a low simmer where the liquid isn't aggressively bubbling on the low setting would be amazing. Another critique is that the 'slow cook' temperature is too low... I think its missing the temperatures between high slow cook and low saute. Other than that its pretty great. It doesn't retain smells or flavour after use when given a clean with detergent. I am satisfied with this product. The buttons are easy to navigate and press. The display is not difficult to understand. The feature to turn off the beep is also great as it can be quite noisy if you dont like constant alerts. What I like is that its stainless steel and being health conscious with not using coated inner pots I feel better about the end results of my dishes.

Used nearly daily – I have been using my instant pot almost daily for about 9 months now. For a person that eats heavily plant based- this will make your life so much easier. It makes cooking various grains and legumes a breeze. It's safe, easy to use and easy to clean. I've really enjoyed having this appliance in my kitchen and I think the purchase point is very… Read more

good considering how much I use it - I have a milk frother that cost me nearly as much and only does one thing! The last point I'd like to make is that it comes with a stainless steel inner pot, which is great for those of us that hate non-stick chemicals.

Delicious time saver – I bought this because of the variety of things it can do and love them all so far, even though I've hardly scratched the surface of what it offers After doing the recommended test run and using it two or three times, the controls are easy to navigate and you start to see how you can modify favourite recipes for a fast, delicous result Good… Read more

points: - stainless steel pot - can use silicone containers - super easy clean - clear notifications / programming - extremely versatile - fast and tasty cooking - reduces washing up

I'm using this three or four times a week, often multiple times for one meal. It would be great if it came with a cookbook, although there are many recipes online

If I bought it again now, I would buy the 8L instead of the 5.7, although there's still plenty of room in the 5.7

Highly recommended

Brilliant all in one cooker – Our slow cooker did not have a saute function & I was not overly confident in using my stove top pressure cooker. Hence the reason for choosing an all in one cooker. The instant pot combines 7 appliances in 1. It allows meals to be cooked easily in less time. It has multiple safety functions & preset functions. Has a small footprint & is easily… Read more

stored.

The inner bowl is stainless steel making it more durable than some of the other all in one cookers & can be placed into the dishwasher.

There are 1000 plus recipes available through either Apple store or google play apps. There are a number of Facebook groups.

I find it intuitive to use, there are 12 preset functions with adjustable pressure settings & a delay timer.

This model is currently only available from Amazon Australia. There are a number of accessories which can be purchased through Amazon separately eg tempered glass lid for slow cooker/yoghurt function (I just use a plate on top of cooker).

My only one criticism is I find it difficult removing the anti-block shield cleaning which needs to be washed after using the pressure cooker setting.
