Too expensive for service delivered – Save your money. Smart maps are not smart. It would frequently get lost. It needed to be constantly rebooted. When it work well, sure it did the job. But for 2GRAND IT WAS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. The event that led me to leaving this review was when I tried to use it and it said for over 2 hours that it was in the middle of a jib, while it was sitting on the flipping charging station. Very expensive product for the trouble it has caused. Doesn't last long. iRobot don't warranty replacements – My Initial experience was amazing, it cleaned everywhere very well and the app was easy to use. However, problems happened during the warranty period, so I was given a new replacement machine. It only worked for a short while when I was experiencing Bin errors. To send it back for repair, it would cost me $127, and they won't warranty the new… Read more
machine! They take the warranty from the first machine's birth date. Please note:- Under Australian consumer law, all products being replaced with a new product, should have warranty from the time you receive the new/replacement product. iRobot will not honour this. I have had nothing but trouble with the replacement machine and I have a feeling it was a refurbished one it was replaced with. Secondly, the machine is very noisy, and it leaves black scrape marks on the architraving(Skirting boards) throughout the house. I have a robot mower that is literally silent, so the vacuume should be much quieter than it is. Not to mention there is only 2 customer service staff that take the calls. They can't do much as they are bound by iRobots policies. I am going to buy another one, that is quiet and has warranties, and a good reputation. Very disappointed to say the least.
Terrible overpriced vacuum cleaner – Purchased in mid December 2022. Parts wear out quickly and are costly to replace. Have had to replace the side brushes regularly as it tears the bristles out. Have had to replace the main rollers already. Have had to replace drive wheel as worn & not covered by warranty. Filter requires cleaning every couple of days, otherwise unit will not finish… Read more
the task. Now it has started making a horrible noise since replacing brushes. We have mainly tiles and carpet only in bedrooms. Used 5 days a week alternating between tiles and carpet.
Robb’ S Roomba - Fantastic Robot – Ok, have seen and read other reviews but I can’t recommend this Roomba s9+ iRobot highly enough. We purchased 2nd hand because “Yes” the retail price scares most people and we decided to buy from someone that didn’t fully understand the process in needing to set up the robot for our space and following the app set up, going in to check that the… Read more
general cleaning maintenance was done. * the previous owner had excessive hair in the rollers the filter was dirty and basically the ignorance to keeping the iRobot clean and tidy to operate efficiently and correctly. In saying that, once done it was like the iRobot had a new life and OMG this is truly the best robot vacuum we have owned! We have tried an earlier model Roomba, LG, Samsung and now the Roomba s9+ with the automatic bag emptying charging station. Do yourself a favour look around for this model and someone’s else’s decision to blame the robot and not themselves and you will not regret it. Let the iRobot take the time to map your cleaning area, set up your app and cleaning schedule and the Roomba s9+ will not disappoint. As for the noise level and comparing to others we have used - this one is my favourite of them all! The best thing is it’s even working as I am writing this review and I know it’s there but it’s not distracting or excessively loud at all. So happy in our choice to invest in the best. * Roomba iRobot s9+
No customer support from manufacturer or warranty – This is our SECOND roomba s9 and both have been defective. Amazon has been a wonderful support system. But we have asked for help from the company and the warranty service and we are still waiting after several days Show details
I love it, despite its hefty price – I've now had my Roomba S9+ for 9 months, and have been extremely happy with it in this time. I was a bit surprised to see that it's now discontinued, but will review it anyway. I bought this roomba to replace an old Samsung robot vacuum, that was good at vacuuming but terrible at navigation. In contrast, the Roomba S9+ has both excellent… Read more
vacuuming function, but also extremely good navigation and app interface.
My house has a mix of carpet, timber floors with rugs and polished concrete floors with rugs, and the Roomba S9+ handles all surfaces with ease, including the transition from the edge of one surface to another (e.g. carpet mats on timber floor). It has a nice low profile, which means it can get right along the skirting boards and under the cabinets in my kitchen and under some fairly low side tables, so dust doesn't accumulate there. It also has the handy little side brush, which picks up crumbs and dust right along the walls too.
I vacuum my main areas three times a week with the roomba, and it keeps it virtually spotless, including picking up crumbs, pet hair, dust, and carpet debris. I really like the look and feel of freshly vacuumed floors, particularly the carpet, and love that it's so easy for this robot vacuum to keep my floors looking so great.
In terms of the navigation, you have to start by doing a couple of navigation runs, for the vacuum to discover the whole area and map it out. But once you've done that, the roomba creates a very detailed map, which you can access using it's app (I used iPhone app). Then you can label rooms, and set certain areas that you might want to vacuum more regularly (e.g. mats at doors or thoroughfare areas). Most importantly, you can also set exclusion zones, if they're areas where you think the vacuum will have a tendency to get stuck (e.g. in my case under the bed, and behind the TV where all the cords are). Then using the app you can set up regularly vacuum areas and program the times and days for those runs to happen. So I have the main floor area in my house vacuumed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays automatically (and you can also switch this off when you're away). You can also always send the roomba to vacuum part or all of your house whenever you want via the app, and for instance I do this when I've moved all my dining room chairs off the floor, to do under the dining table.
I also have a separate upstairs map, and move the home base and vacuum upstairs when I want to vacuum upstairs. It's easy to select the new map and tell the roomba to vacuum those areas, and it copes with the home base being moved, and works out where it is fairly easily.
The app shows you the history of vacuuming, if there were any particular high-dirt areas, and alerts you if the roomba encounters any issues.
I love the automatic emptying of the roomba, so that I can just set and forget, and not have to keep remembering to empty the storage container in the actual vacuum. I probably have to change the bag in the home base unit every couple of months, and if I'm at home, I sometimes pause the roomba when it's almost finished its run, and manually empty its dirt container into the bin, so that I don't fill up and have to replace the bag as quickly.
The main negatives of this roomba are its price (extremely expensive), although I think it's worth paying for the convenience. It's also quite noisy as it vacuums on the hard floors (it has a quiet mode but I don't use that, because I want maximum vacuuming to pick up all the pet hair that accumulates in the house). Its rollers are also slightly rough on the edge of a couple of my less good quality mats, it's pulled out some of the fibres, and is a bit rough in trying to push around some more lightweight furniture. It also doesn't navigate well in the dark, so I always run it during the day.
In terms of navigation, I've had the roomba get caught in a charging cable that was accidentally left on the floor, and have also had an unfortunate experience where it did vacuum over some vomit from the cat, which happened when it was on an auto-run and I was out. I see the new Roomba j7 vacuum says it has even smarter navigation, so that it can avoid cables, pet mess, etc, so perhaps this is why it has superseded the S9+.
iRobot Roomba S9+ – Very happy with the Roomba S9+. It good on my carpets, I have high/low and plush carpet, I had no problems getting Roomba vacuum them. But, I must mention the you need to do a map run first, by when you link your Roomba to the app, touch the map icon then you will be able to do a mapping run. Set your map up and you will have no problem with your Roomba. The only problem I have is Roomba is noisy on the tile floor. Show details
