unusable because of noise – Ridiculously noise rendering it completely useless! Add to that you cannot remove the grill. What a complete disaster of a design, I’m not sure how this passes to be used.
Too noisy – Seems operationally fine, but it's probably the loudest extractor fan I've ever heard. It's not smooth white noise either, it's irritating and possibly a high frequency rattle from the draught shutters. I'm surprised this actually passed R&D into production. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to return this. Show details
Great extraction with the associated noise – As per the other reviews, this is a pretty loud fan, admittedly, the bathroom is on the edge of the house, so the clearance to the tile roof is <200mm so probably getting some acoustics sent back down. I checked the few similar fans at Bunnings (size, airflow) and short of spending about $200 on a real high end one, they were all much of a… Read more
muchness.
The fan it replaced was much quieter, but kind of useless as the ceilings and walls would have lots of condensation on them.
One thing that has helped, went to Jaycar and got some self adhesive sound deadening butyl / foam, wrapped it around the outside and this has taken off the high pitch and has noticeable reduced the sound. (although still loud but more bearable now).
Does the job well! – Bought this about a year ago now to compliment a hpm 3 in 1 ( now replaced ) which the fan capacity was inadequate. Very happy with performance, no steam anywhere! Sure, its a bit loud but at the same time I installed the larger DETA fan in the laundry ( bought one of each as I needed the smaller IXL due to restrictions in the roof above the… Read more
shower so thought I'd test them both ) and cant tell the difference in sound from either of them. They both work great. The IXL in the bathroom has a small walk in robe between it and the bedroom and while you can hear it if you're awake it does not wake me when my partner showers. Always happy when something works, unlike a lot of junk sold thats not fit for purpose. Would buy again.
Too LOUD! – Bought twice (to try in different rooms) - returned twice! Noise level is too high for the volume of air being extracted. IXL is my prefer brand BUT not this exhaust fan. Now I know why "Noise level" is not stated on packaging by manufacturer. Show details
Way to loud – Finished my bathroom, thought Id go with a trusted make and went for the more expensive modle, wow I wish I hadnt, the wife and I like to listen to the radio in the shower and getting ready, absolutely no chance with this turned on!! Sent costumer service an email, they phoned me back and basically said tough, its more powerful and thats how loud… Read more
it is! I would tell anyone thinking of buying theses fans not to, and I will be keeping clear of IXL products in the future! DONT BUY (unless youre deaf)
Too loud – Had to return. Too loud for the en-suite. I can see why they don’t publish dBA for this. Can’t a company that produces so many fan products design a fan by now? Show details
Looks good. Can keep up with a hot shower. Hums like any bigger fan would. Happy! – Having read these entertaining reviews about discovering JFK airport in the bathroom I wasted time looking for the impossible quiet fan with big suction. I couldn't find any, so with trepidation I bought this one and was pleasantly surprised and relieved. Perhaps it makes more noise in a small room, but the sound is fine in ours. A smooth hum. like hot showers, I need a strong fan, so this is just what I wanted. If you like water-saving hair-shirt cold showers, or long luke warm baths, you don't need this. But if you make steam and don't like mold you need a serious fan. Honest it's just like our older less effective fan, but 20% louder and 50% better. It would be good if IXL published the decibels. I figured it must be a lot louder if they hid them.
The clips to get the grill off could be better. I can see they are going to be a nuisance. But this fan looks so much nicer than the industrial mesh most fans have.
I've only had this one day, wait and see, but for the moment, I'm a happy customer who wishes she didn't read these reviews and just went out earlier and bought it.
Acoustics are complicated, perhaps it depends on ceiling shape. If it's a lemon, I'll be back here to tell the world.
SO LOUD!! – Wow. We needed a more powerful fan, but we did not expect to also install JFK airport into our bathroom. Will be taking it back. Installation was easy enough though. Show details
Terrible Fan with blade constantly coming off – We purchased this for our laundry to assist with any heat produced from our dryer, yes it's noisy but we were ok with that. It lasted less than a month before it stopped working, called our electrician who installed it who found the blade had come off, he put it back on and within an hour (after paying a callout fee) it happened again. I have now… Read more
put it on myself, and it lasted less than 5 minutes. We're unable to find the receipt so it was a waste of $59 and now $150 in electrician costs. Won't be buying another IXL fan!

Stop hurting your brand – Hi Same as most feedback. Far to noisy. Taking it back. Will buy other brand for sure. IXL customer support, do you self a favour and get push the company to get this is off the shelves.
Finally strong exhaust fan for bathroom – Bought this IXL 200mm Eco ventflo to replace cheap arlec fan. It has strong fan, loud but powerful. This will suck away moist from bathroom and hopefully prevent black mold to invade again. I will soon get 250mm one for my 2nd bathroom. I noticed the plastic grill was hard to pull before installation, so i had to bent all 4 clips carefully for easier removal later on when cleaning. Show reply
OMG so loud – So loud; taking it back to Bunnings. Wish I’d read the reviews before buying. Hope our next choice is not so loud. Definitely wouldn’t be able to relax with that noice.

Goodbye peace – You will never have a bath in peace ever again with this fan. It's like standing on the tarmac at the airport on a hot day with the engines going.

Noisy – Installed this fan in our bathroom found it to be quite noisy, also seemed to get noiser as the months went on, we have now replaced it with an inline fan wow what a difference.

Too loud – As others have said, I wish I had read these reviews first! Stuck with IXL quality to replace the fan in our toilet and, while it’s great at moving air, it is way too loud for the household. Seems to get to the right level (noise wise) 1-2 sec after turning it on and then it really kicks into gear and goes up by another 10 notches!!! I hope I’m… Read more
able to return it as the box (and possibly receipt) went with the recycling collection this week! Pretty disappointed.

Too noisy – Wish I had read reviews first. Way too noisy! I am sure there is no need to exhaust quite so much air from the smallest room in the house? Will be reading reviews on the alternative fans before purchasing.

Way too noisy – I also brought one to replace a fan that had lost the upper shutters (house two years old - not impressed). Turned the ECO on, could not believe the noise - there should be a DB rating on the box! It is going back to Bunnings! Not impressed, it should not have even have left the factory. The fan it replaced was 700+m3Hr and was half the noise level!

Powerful by not worth the noise – Exhaust does the job well but the fan is far too loud for comfort. Chose the IXL brand since I assumed the quality would continue with all their products. Bought two and had a handy man install it. Will return them without question.

Very Loud – Way too loud for domestic use. Installed one yesterday and we thought geez that’s loud. Had a shower this morning and woke the whole house up. Will be taking it back today. There should be db ratings on these products.

NOISY! – I bought 2 of these and installed one in our ensuite to try out. I was initially surprised at the amount of noise these created but assumed we would get used to it over time. However we have not. The fan is great at extracting a huge amount of air and we haven't had a fault with it, but the noise has become almost oppressive. I removed it and… Read more
tried to return them both to the place of purchase (a major hardware chain) but I have misplaced the receipt and they won't accept. Very disappointed. I have since purchased another brand. Note, the fan doesn't have ducting capability so for our installation it was venting the moist bathroom air into the roof space which I have decided (long term) isn't a good idea. Would not recommend.

Too noisy compared to other good exhaust fans – It's so noisy. You're better off buying the $12 more expensive DETA brand 250mm high extraction rate fan which also has backdraft shutters, is far quieter and says it moves more air (490m3/h vs 750m3/h). I think that the grill is clipped on far too tightly to be readily removable for cleaning too. I returned the IXL exhaust fan on noise alone.

Oh Dear – It sounds like a Boeing 747 when in operation. its so loud I am unable to use if there is anyone is asleep and is very annoying and loud to use when everyone is awake. Extremely disappointed a reputable brand has put such a product on the market.

Wish I Had Read these Reviews First – Bought the unit a month ago, from a large chain hardware store, as it had the high collar to extend through the insulation, and the draft stopper. We were almost used to the jet lift-off noise level when, last night, the fan blade detached itself and shattered in the vent cover (made me glad the cover was almost impossible to get off). Do Your Homework First – If you need a robust exhaust fan that moves out a lot of air from a space where noise is not a big issue, this product is for you. The motor is actually pretty quiet but the super-fast fan revolutions make the unit sound like it’s going to take off somewhere. That said I’m ok with it being in the closed-off laundry. The noise is probably… Read more
comparable to other strong fans anyway.
Re the grill, yes it is difficult to remove but I discovered pulling it from the edge between either 'side' tabs did the trick. It takes quite a bit force and I was worried that over time, it would break so I decided to lightly file all four tabs to make the grill easier to remove. Each one took a few seconds to file and now removal is easier. IXL, this should be an easy fix – take note!

I am glad I read these reviews first – I am returning mine before I install it .. I cannot get the grill off and I am afraid to damage it trying and anyway .. I don't know how I am going to get the grill off to clean it after. I did think that maybe I can just clean it without removing the grill but I have found that there is a build up on the leading edge of the fan blades that also need to be cleaned.
Eco Ventflo ear plugs please – Tried this unit in two bathrooms and have now removed as the noise is akin to a jet as it reaches a peak would like to have decibel rating on fans to assist in suitable selection.I am unsure what area would be suitable for this unit to operate domestically .

Powerful fan with some negatives – Design - The unit looks nice and doesn't draw too much attention to itself. The grill looks great, but as already mentioned is a pain to remove compared to other fans. I find pulling it back from IXL logo the best. The built in draught stopper is another great addition Function - We installed this fan in our laundry as we had ventilation… Read more
issues. The fan moves alot of air (~490mtrs/hr) compared to other fans on the market and hence why we purchased this. But, with the added pulling power comes the added noise. In a laundry its ok, but kitchen it might be too much for that you need.
Cost - More expensive compared to other fans, but if you need the air volume its one of the better units. With the inclusion of the draught stopper (which are ~$30 to buy on there own) its well worth it. For a small area like a laundry or bathroom, you will need a window open otherwise the fan wont draw its max capacity.
Overall - Does the job but noisy to run

Yep! How the hell do we get the grill off?! – Quite agree. A decent template would be very useful. The fan is very efficient but is far too strong for a modest sized bathroom and also very noisy. Sounds like a hurrican hit us! And I'm finding it impossible to remove the grill now that the fan's installed. Help! AW
Nightmare Installation – Most manufacturers of these fans give you a solid template to cut your hole. With this fan you get a small diagram on the back page of their small instruction book. It's impossible for the DIY person to cut the hole using this template. Not providing a decent template causes all sorts of dramas when doing the install. Unless the hole is cut… Read more
just right, it's near impossible to attach the fan to the ceiling as the screw down holders don't want to play ball unless they have plenty of wiggle room. The plastic grill is already fitted to the fan and needs to be removed, this is a major job as you need to carefully unclip each of the 4 plastic clips from the rear. I broke one clip when doing this. So, the fan is installed and now you have to fit the grill, once again, if the hole was not cut just right you will need to cut the plasterboard away from the clip area. That done, you have to force the grill on and once on you can't get it off without doing some damage to the remaining clips. The clips fit tight and although they say to clean the fan you must remove the grill, you can't do it without breaking at least one clip. It's a very bad design for a not so cheap exhaust fan.
