Something new for you – Who knew? Auburn, an ethnic enclave in the west of Sydney's urban sprawl, well known for it's beautiful Auburn Botanical Gardens, and the very prominent Auburn Gallipoli Mosque. Cuisine?...not so much, but things have changed. Strolling the streets of the CBD, one becomes aware that this multicultural suburb is one of the successes of integration, envisaged by the Gov many decades ago. So now we come to the Jasmin 1. This business has a few outlets in Sydney, and judging by this example in Auburn, it must have a good following. A small patron's carpark, a dining area that is divided into 3, as to cater for larger parties. Marble and stainless steel everywhere, even the tables! Comfortable, and certainly hard wearing. The food, yes! The large menu has your Lebanese favourites covered, Shwarma, Kebab, Koftas and the wonderful dips and vegetarian options. We had the deep-fried eggplant, potato with corriander, and a wonderful tangy melange called Fattoush. We also ordered a chicken and one lamb shwarma, and a chicken kebab......all served with two dips and flat bread. The food was a real eye-opener. The meats were grilled and cut up ready to devour, the salads were delightfully refreshing....that Fattoush was a standout, and the endless supply of flat bread......enough to satisfy the biggest eater...me! The Jasmine 1 at Auburn, my new discovery! We went early, at 11:45am on a Saturday....and were the second table there. It never really filled up for lunch, so anytime should be fine.
