This blanket generated a bit of hype in the late 2010s, and for good reason. But that was the old version. This old one had an RRP of $50, but would often go on sale for $25. and could have kept using it, though part of the cable housing came open, so I binned it out of precaution.
Nonetheless, it was a great buy overall: comfortable, durable, and presumably more than paid for itself in energy savings.
As a result, I purchased another one in 2023 for $89 (it's now a bit cheaper at $79), justifying the increased price based on my good experience with the last one.
But I opened it and found they had changed the product, evident by the new flimsy/hollow remote, and the addition of power on beeping sounds.
I kept it, thinking it should work the same. The blanket itself was still nice after all. And it indeed heated well.
But the remote should have been a warning that they are no longer built to last.
Because mine would no longer power on after 2 winters of use, rendering the advertised 2 year "peace of mind" warranty useless to boot (it broke just one month outside of it).
This is despite having been a lot more gentle with it than my old one, not even washing it nor running over it my office chair.
As a result, factoring in the higher upfront purchase price, I wouldn't have saved that much money compared to if I had judiciously used my old column heater over these two years.
Overall, I would not purchase this blanket based on the previously good reviews it received.
Great when it works – These heated throws are amazing when you first use them. I have bought 4 of them. Unfortunately the joy is short-lived. 3 out of the 4 controllers have completely stopped working. I've contacted the company but they haven't bothered to reply. Ultimately, need new controllers to make them work. They lasted up to 2 winters. Will look to another brand going forwards. Show details
EXCELLENT - BEST THING IVE BOUGHT ALL YEAR! – Love it, its soft and I can roll it up and put it away. The plug is removeable so I can lay it at the end of my bed when not in use like a throw :) I take it to work with me and have in on my lap when I'm at my desk. I use it every night when sitting doing my knitting. I even bought one for my grandson :) I love the blue colour and the price was amazing! only $79, down from $190!

showed a sophisticated dark grey blanket, the contents were light insipid grey (truth in advertising?)Brought it home unpacked it, read all the instructions, one being it had to plug into a powerpoint only and not a power board or extension cord. Could not leave it plugged into the PowerPoint even though it was switched off via a controller. Which means I have to move furniture again to unplug it every time it’s used!! Could not fold it or put anything on top of it, (can’t sit on it but apparently can wrap it around… and then what? Stand up?)rearranged all my furniture so I could plug it in and drape it over my sofa. I flopped down on the sofa and carefully spread the throw over me. And pressed the on button on the controller, no lights no heat no nothing, guest arrived, dealt with. Returned to sofa to try again, controller now very warm to the touch but blanket not! Returned to Big W for a full refund.
Best money I have spent – I bought the Jason Reversible Heated Throw. It's very plush- has plush on one side and a sherpa type feel on the other in a lovely grey colour. Heats up so quick- much more economical than a heater!! Show details
Love it ! Couldn't be happier ! – I bought 2 - 1 for me and 1 for my mum. The material is so soft and cuddly. Turns off automatically and with 9 setting it can be just warm to toasty ! Show details
Great quality and washable too – I bought 2 of these throws when it was on sale and couldn't be happier. Its automatic 3-hour shut off function was very useful and it has 9 heat settings. It also comes with extra-long cord and machine washable too. However, the throw only comes in either blue or silver. We use less heating for the whole room now that we have these throw. Definitely a money saver on winter bills! Highly recommended.
