I have over 1000 hours on my D100 – I purchased the D100 in 2014 I have over 1000 hours. Properly maintain twice a year with zero issues. I’m moving and will have over 2 acres of land to Cut and will need a larger mower. Unfortunately the prices of them are insane and cannot afford another. John Deere and I’m pretty upset. I see a lot of people with a lot of negative comments about the flowers, but I’m guessing they didn’t properly maintain them. Show details

Still running perfect after 7 years – This has been a great mower and still is running and cutting like new after 7 years, if you look after your mowers you won’t have issues. Briggs and Stratton engines go for ever and will last no issues. The mower had good turning circle and 5 gears, it will tackle hills no problem. Most people don’t look after there mowers and this is why they… Read more

have problems. John Deere are well built and will last as long as you service them. Same as most other mowers.

Don't buy one, they are junk – Not dependable, put it away, was running fine. Charge battery, no turn. Bought new battery after charging the new/old battery before buying a brand new battery. Would not turn at all. Checked switch under seat, the plug, the fuse, and all connections. Still no turn. what a piece of crap this tractor is. I will never buy another piece of crap like this again. only has 90 hours on it. What a hunk of crap. Show details

Nothing but trouble from new – Engine never worked like my first D100. Asked for warranty inspection for motor & was told not covered by warranty. $2900 down the drain. Spoke to lots of people about other models and same thing. It’s obviously a Briggs issue, not Necessarily a John Deere issue.  Show details

Rear transmission/final drive failure – We have a JD D100 riding mower which the final drive transmission (non hydrostatic) has become noisy, sluggish and beginning to fail. The mower only has 42.2 hours on it and out of warrantee do to age only. (2013) There are no service or fluid check points on this transmission. Really disappointing considering the cost of this mower. Not certain what name product to buy next that will hold up to its name? Show details

The jury is still out – I bought this mower about 5 years ago and in all that time, it has only done 110 hrs work. It performs adequately as far as mowers go, but it's use has been confined to mowing established lawns only, thus it has never been mistreated.......so it's performance as applied to taming new ground was not tested, however I think it might still be… Read more

adequate for the job if things were taken slowly.

At the 100 hr. service mark, the service book advises it would require a valve adjustment. The licensed service dealer I took the mower to, renounced that statement and told me the time to do a valve adjustment was 200hrs - not 100hrs!

A 100hr. normal service was performed in any case - and during the process, I was informed that the 'spindles' were worn and needed replacing!

$420 and two days later, I picked up my mower again - which I thought was pretty quick service, but for what was done, the cost was excessive....but isn't it always?

The fact that the spindles needed replacing after just a 110 hrs. work was a big disappointment. I would have thought the normal life of these things, whilst employed doing easy mowing, would have been a lot longer. I also notice the motor, under load, (such as going up a slight incline) tends to clatter alarmingly. I won't be surprised if this turns out to be a major problem in the near future.

I purchased a John Deere mower because I thought the higher price would be for a better product. Sadly it appears I was wrong....again....to follow the advertising hype. If I ever require another mower, I don't believe I'll be looking to buy a John Deere.

Complete piece of junk – The transaxel is rumbling at 60 hours, the psint is bubbling off, absolutely no evidence of metal prep. Calling JD is a waste of time. Its a throw away mower. I'm waiting for it to give up the ghost. John deere should be ashamed. They used to be a leader.  Show details

Do Not Buy This Tractor – I bought this tractor at Lowes in 2012 to replace my old trusty Craftsman - my first mistake. First, engine failed at around 500 hours, after much haggling with the dealer (30 mile drive away) a two week wait (they were busy fixing a lot of hay balers). I got a new engine that blew today at 1400 hours. A very poor product that is unreliable.

pretty good – I need to get used to this one, but find the reverse pedal difficult as your foot is on a angle and need to press down at the same time,

Poor paint job – The best ride on I have owned, as proud as I am with it I am bitterly disappointed with the poor paint job. You'd think if JD were to build a quality machine like this why wouldn't they use a primer to avoid paint peeling. John Deere, you should provide warranty for the poor quality workmanship.

Good mower – Nice looking mower, good turning circle & comfortable, I have the d100 but if you want your wife to mow with ease get a d110, the manual takes a bit to master, easy to service & easy to get service kits from jd dealer, I got interest free so really cheap to get your hands on one. Looks great, quite, mows well Manual takes a bit to get used to
