Never let me down – Never looked at JD range as always thought they were too expensive. Was surprised at the affordability of the JS28 and bought it without much thought. It has a wide 22 inch deck so makes light work of a residential sized yard. Its a heavy bulky mower and the self propelled function is absolutely necessary to maneuver it around. It starts 1st time… Read more

every time except when I ran it out of fuel. I didn't realise its a mulching mower when I bought it so it does not collect clippings very efficiently and I don't like the individual height adjustment for each wheel, would rather a single lever for all 4. Overall not a bad mower for the price.

What a ripper – Got the mower six months ago and I couldn't be happier. Handle a little bit on the flimsy side but seems to do the job. I was concerned about the front wheel drive but it works a treat. Starts first time ever time and is easy to pull. I have had many brand name lawn mowers including Honda but at this stage this is the best mower I have owned period.

Poor performance from John Deere – I have had a JS48 now for just under 2 years, in the first 10 minutes of use the engine had packed it in and needed to be stripped down, i was advised by JD that what was found was leftover shavings from when the engine was machined which caused a failure in the valve drive gear, i find that hard to believe with the high standards of quality… Read more

control Briggs & Stratton have in place. Next to fail was the rear drive bearings, they had ceased up after only 1 season, i purchased new bearings from my local supplier and rebuilt the drive, i also added a protective seal around the new bearings to stop any water, dust etc getting into them. I certainly wished i had done my homework before purchasing this mower and i would advise others do the same. John Deere you may make great tractors and ride on mowers but for the domestic push or self driven markets you have failed dismally.

Fantastic, with a couple modifications – My wife recently bought 3 x $2 tickets in a local raffle, with first prize being a JS28 mower. That same day, we were told that she had won the mower. first thing I did was jump online and read some reviews - with the major flaw being a fixed blade. Before I even started it up for the first time, I pulled off the blade, bought some Victa swing… Read more ·  1

back blades, went into my shed and built and balanced a swing back blade system for this mower. Cost me a total of $14 for the blades, and used some spare steel I had sitting around.

It mows brilliantly, the drive system is such a relief to my (bad) shoulders.

Not bad for a total cost of $20 for this mower!

absolute rubbish – bought a brand new js28 thinking it would be a good product, but using it for the third time, I clipped a very small bit of stump and bent the shaft. what a joke! john deere didn't want to know about it said they were aware of such a problem but it is not covered by their warranty. how are they allowed to market such inferior products? I will… Read more

persue the matter with consumer protection, but I guess unless you are a major corporation, politician or wealthy socialite, I guess the matter will be thrown in the bin,

has anyone else been down that track?

Cheap For A Reason – I had a look at one of these mowers when I was in the market for a replacement, the handle bar was flimsy and plastic looking the deck is no thicker then a coke can, I was sold on the Honda and glad I did, tough easy to start and good fuel economy. the colour weak, flimsy

Really ? A bad review from someone who hasn't even used the product. Hi to everyone at whatever Honda dealership you work for.
