Rubbish mower – Has never filled the catcher. At best, half full. Incredibly painful to stop every 5 metres. Does not mow low enough on a Santa Ana lawn. Battery lasted a few months. Bent crank hitting a small branch! John Deere should remove their label from such a crap product. As a lawnmower it makes a good slasher – Blade adjustment does not go low enough to maintain a fine couch lawn. Catcher only collects about half of what it cuts. Solid blade easily damaged by rocks or hard objects. Difficult to manoever in small spaces. Drive cable broke after only 2 months old. Lead acid battery only lasts for 12 months ,Lithium ion type solved this. Not happy, should have stuck with the old Victa !! Show details

JS46: Sorry I Bought One! – 6 months old and after 6 mows went over hard wood garden edging, result, bent crank shaft. $700.00 down with the clippings as John Deere refused to fix it under warranty. So a virtual $700 lemon in my shed. Poor after sales service by both dealer and head office.

Very Happy with our John Deere JS46 – We've had our JS46 for about 18 months and its been wonderful, with no problems so far. Its very easy to use and even when I've forgotten to recharged the battery ... and I need to pull start, it starts first pull everytime. minutes ....when we first brought it home and started it... only due to nearly dropping it whilst getting it out of the car... but never occured again.

Mowing on slopes is fantastic and requires no effort by the operator. It loves slopes.

We've never used the catcher as we use the mulch plug all the time .... so I can't comment on its catching ability. Mulching is great and the cuttings are fine and there are no visable clipping tracks left after mowing.

In todays market of budget "throw-away-mowers" under $700...its been a great mower and I would have no hessitation in purchasing another one.

I can't speak highly enough of it .... I'm really glad we have one! Key start is a gem! Price was good, service and advice was great. The mower feels powerful and never struggles. Cut is beautiful and always consistent. My teen children are finally motivated to cut the lawn.... yay!! Mind your back!! Its heavy! Its not easy to lift into the back of the car.

Makes mowing a breeze! – I bought my JS46 about six months ago and have been delighted by its performance. While initially concerned it could only cut down to 30 mm (compared to 15 mm on many other mowers) this hasn't been a problem at all. (compared to 19 inches on many other mowers) helps me cut mowing time. The electric start works well. I'd prefer a hard plastic grass catcher but the soft bag is OK. It doesn't like long wet grass as this can stop it in its tracks. However in dry conditions it is a powerful performer. Wide cut width, electric start, powerful. Doesn't like long wet grass. Soft catcher bag not the best.
