Karcher K 2.180

MORE THAN ADEQUATE FOR CLEANING RESIDENTIAL PATIOS, DRIVEWAYS, ETC – The K2.180 was adequate for my needs - cleaning outdoor patio tiles, concrete driveway, gutters, fascias, external wall cladding.
Not built to last more then a few uses – Only used it about a dozen times and now it's sprung a leak inside the unit. A pressure cleaner that can't handle the pressure, probably cost double the retail price to fix. Disappointing as have a few accessories but it will NOT be replaced by another Karcher. Show details
Poor Quality – I purchased a Karcher K3 home at Bunnings WA and had it back to Bunnings 3 days later. I had already tried my daughters K2. 180 and it did a great job of cleaning pavers so that's why I purchased a more powerful machine. It was when I opened the box and fond the HP hose to be no better than garden hose strength I knew it would not last very long.… Read more
It looks like the Chinese have stuffed it up for Karcher, cheap and nasty No problem with getting the refund

Great for what it's advertised to do, don't expect it to stand up against a petrol powered unit thou – I've spent 10 years washing 4x4's, dirt bikes, driveways etc using this device. Apparently you're only supposed to use this for 5 minutes at a time. heh... I'm trying to kill the motor so I can upgrade this but it just keeps going. Yes the plastic thread is crap, but if you want a cheap unit, this is it. Having said that I will not be buying the… Read more
next model when this does die, I will be getting a gerni as they look like the best value for money in quality. I've noticed the ball bearing/dirt blaster attachment for this unit is great at cleaning old concrete, but only an inch at a time. I wouldn't bother buying the high pressure attachments for this unit, just use it to do the basic washing up and you will be happy. But ignore the 5 minute application time, the motor in this is unstoppable. Oh, and the bent wand attachment is great for the gutters, not to pressure wash, but to drag the leaves out.
pretty good for $200 – Purchased at Bunnings for in 2013 for $200. Came with the vario lance and patio washer. I only use it several times a year and it is still working OK. Cleans all porous surfaces very well: brick, wood, concrete. Dislikes: The manual was a bit vague, didn't mention the need to prime the system or how to troubleshoot different problems. It… Read more
didn't mention that the patio cleaner needed to be disassembled and cleaned for every 1 hour of use. It is a bit slow, but this is expected as this is in the lowest series of karcher washers. My 30 square meter backyard required about 6 hours of washing.
This is just the best ever, just love it – This is the best window cleaner ever, I just love using it, it's a breeze to use , does a fab job every time, I would recommend it to everyone, streak free and it makes cleaning windows fun, I use it on my glass dining table too, what was once a chore it is now so quick and easy and gives a professional finish, I love it Show details

Why create an Iconic product & then produce it so poorly – I will be brief: Imagine how these could have been. The performance of that Turbo nozzle was astounding. Anything more astounding with how difficult it was to get it being correctly the second Time I used it. I have to note, that fair warning was given in the instruction booklet with regard to making sure that your hi pressure hose did not… Read more
kink as it weakens it and in no time at all becomes that point at which the hose Spring is a leak.
How on earth do you use these and never kink or twist the hose!!!
Absolutely ridiculous. A 6mm hose... Or is it 8mm? It doesnt matter, they are both completely unsuitable for this type of application.
Not to worry tho, spring a leak, no worries, grab a replacement hose which is longer and about the same price as the machine.
Heres a hack or ya. you can rejoin a severed hose. its not simple but its possible. Get good couplings. B4 you rejoin the severed hose, take an old garden hose and cut two lenths the size of each end of you hose.
The hi pressure 6mm hose will fit easily inside of the old garden hose which will then protect it from kinking.
Gutless. Waste of money – Gutless. Waste of time. Waste of money. Putting your finger over the end of your garden hose will work just as well. No power, little flow, no oomph. At least it's reliable, but that might just be because I can never be bothered to use it. I wouldn't buy this again. Show details
Didn't last replaced – Handle snapped first day just lifting it. Used it without handle for a few months, then one day it just wouldn't start. replaced with clean force which is much better design, eg detergent bottle in built compared to Karchers loose little hose. this was a waste of money, didn't make a fuss since kids bought it for Father's Day. Worst Ever Service – It was a good unit until started refusing to engage pressure. Pull trigger & nothing happens. Rang Karcher Service Qld & told pay up huge $120 inspection fee just to inspect & quote. Being Tech savvy I explained fault & suggested just a faulty pressure sensor. Was told it might be $4-500. REALLY? I asked how sensor could cost so much & was told… Read more
best to buy a new machine. I told them it works intermittently & asked what was the usual cause of faults - Calcium build up. So I said running vinegar thru machine would dissolve it & told "Don't do that". I will never buy KARCHER again as Service Center are dishonest & disreputable.
plastic pump housing ***CRAP*** – Bunnings do not want to know, their response is basically, were sorry we took your money!!! i have had 15 hours use with this model and the plastic cylinder housing split from top to bottom, LOW LOW QUALITY plastic pump from China, Karcher also do not want to know, Gerni use all Metal cylinder and pistons, the Gerni brand will be my next… Read more
puchase.
nb. Spare parts from Karcher are hard to find and very expensive, the models vary so much, and so quickly change from year to year, it makes spare storage to big to be viable....
Absolute crap! – Used the pressure cleaner once and it worked well. Second time out it failed to operate. Motor worked, but on squeezing trigger there was no pressure. Fixed under guarantee, as it should be! On getting it out again it operated for about an hour before failing again with same fault. At best I have had 3 hours use out of this machine. I will never… Read more
buy a Karcher again. Unfortunately I did not Know of this site prior to buying and had I read reviews, I never would have purchased this useless item.
Any recommendations re cheaper pressure cleaners?
Great product – We managed to get this on sale at Bunnings and it included a bundle of extras which made it even better value. We have used it many times without any problems. My husband took it on roof and cleaned our whole colourbond roof which is white and it came up immaculate. Would highly recommend Show details

Unstopable! – I have had mine for 4 years and cannot kill it. I give it plenty, have lent it out at least a dozen times, plus once a year I blast my entire tiled area from front to back, it just doesn't stop. i can tell when its being overworked as I can smell the water pump overheating, but it just goes on and on. Best value for money product I have ever bought. Show details
Poor design flaws - spraying money up the wall – I bought one from Bunnings last year and left it in the shed and went to use it after the winter and picked it up and the handle simply broke off in my hands. So disappointed. Again another firm - Karcher who have neglected a design issue. The handle is a cheap plastic that presses into a grip fit onto the body of the Karcher. I noticed that the… Read more
plastic is turned 90 degrees and the plastic has very little reinforcement at the clip in segment of the handle.
The machine has other design floors as well - no where to wrap the electric cord, no clip for the hose, the sprayer wand handle is too big and when you try and fit the wand handle into the u clip it just falls out. The hose connect at the back is very hard to clip on even good brand hose clippings, the detergent hose is tucked away and is a very clumsy fit and not even long enough to put into a larger bucket.
You know what, it's just a heap of garbage and I am afraid that Karcher may had had a good name years ago, but now they have fallen into cutting costs and making crappy gear that breaks and is unusable.
I bought it originally on a recommendation from a friend (thanks Pete - NOT) but now I will definitely be doing my homework next time.
Crap – My daughters bought me a Karcher for Christmas 2015.. A few weeks later I upgraded it to a K2 plus home kit. Yesterday 4th April /2016 I opened the box and assembled the K2 and tested it on a 10 sq metre section and was pleased with the result, though the pressure wasn't as good as I thought it would be,, Today 5th April I recommenced… Read more
cleaning and had approx. 1 metre cleaned when the water stopped I released the trigger and the compressor kept running. Switched off power and checked hoses and water supply and all were good. I restarted the compressor and it kept running without me pressing the trigger.
Bought from Bunnings /Werribee. I realized then that I should have searched the reviews before buying....Sorely disappointed with Bunnings where I have spent $$$ over the past 3 decades.
Contacted Karcher and was told to take it back to Bunnings....No interest!
Returned it to Bunning and asked for full refund, no problem. I noticed a Gerni model going for… Read more (+1 reply)
Cheap imported junk – It worked perfectly for the four or five times in use. It then started to confinually start to cut out, I pulled it down and found that the cooling fan had melted and detached from the spindle. Not repairable - shame on Karcher and Bunnings for allowing such poor quality gear onto the market.
It's time consumers took action – I have purchased two K2 180 Karchers in two years. The first I thought was from a bad batch. Silly of me the second machine failed after a few hours use but on both occasions the warranty had expired, how amazing or convenient for Karchers. Bunnings don't want to know, how so, they sell this garbage. Consumer Affairs should be screenings these reviews and shutting these products down.
Rubbish – I got mine from Bunnings too. Electrical switch stopped working initially and got it replaced under warranty. Replacement unit has also stopped working again? I took it back to Bunnings again and they didn't want to know about it. Wouldn't bother with a karcher again. Very disappointed to read the reviews and disappointed with Bunnings!
Had A Look Inside The Guts Of Cleaner – It would work for a few minutes then stop. Took home pulled to bits cooling fan melted. It does have an over temperature cut off, that's why it would work later. Don't fancy getting parts. Haven't tried yet. The rest inside looks OK.
That was my brothers Karcher. I have one the same, with problems of course, I would have everything… Read more
Died – Pure junk. I tried to use it today to wash the bins.. won't switch on, had to use the garden hose instead..was ok when it did work but was also very noisy when it did..the whole neighbourhood knew I was using it. Now got to figure out where I can dump it. Won't buy a karcher ever again.
Faulty junk – Won't turn on after a few times being used, seems to be some kind of electrical fault perhaps to do with the power switch. Waste of money I expected better from Karcher. Bunnings know this model is defective but won't stand behind the product. I'll buy another brand next time, suggest to others not to buy a Karcher

Absolutely useless – Got given one of these by someone who won it as a door prize at a conference. Don't waste your money. You will get nearly equal pressure using the garden hose with your finger over the end. Anyone selling this junk should be ashamed of themselves. Oh did I forget? It also gave up working altogether after a short time.
What a shocker – K2.180 given as Christmas present 2013 and used twice on paths 2014. Each time I felt an electrical tingle through the hose but not being familiar with equipment soldiered on. We have had severe heavy rain in Brisbane this year and I dcided to clean up the mud on the paths and after 5-10 minutes he motor started making noises, had an electrical… Read more
smell smoked and quit. As product is out of warranty I will not waste effort in going to Bunnings as I will only get madder. I will now have to get professionals in to finish the job. Would not recommend he kartcher brand to anyone it might be German technology but is full of cheap Chinese crap.
worst karcher i have ever owned – Bought this piece of rubbish from bunnings over 2 yrs ago. I got it replaced during warranty as it stopped working after a few months. The new unit is as worst as the first one, the on/off switch is very temperamental and only works half the time. I only used it a few times since replacement. There seems to be a major design issue with this particular model. I will never buy anything from Karcher again.
Absolute rubbish – It worked for 3 minutes. I got 2 and a half bricks clean before it broke. My mother got one as well with exactly the same result. These are seriously low quality machines. Disappointed in Bunnings for selling this garbage.
Karcher 2.180 is piece of junk so don't waste your money – Bought it new from bunnings for $125, had probably 4 to 5 hours use and just stopped working. It wouldn't switch on and is as dead as a door nail. Just out of warranty. It worked a treat when it was working. Talked to an acquaintance who works at bunnings tool area and he said that karcher are always being returned. He said best buy a gurni in… Read more
preference as they are more reliable. Masters hardware has their own brand which has a 5 year warranty. I'll research before i buy a replacement, but it wont be a karcher.
Short working life – K 2.180. About 18 months old. Occasional light domestic use. Plastic cylinder head cracked. Replacement part = $70 (half purchase price of whole unit). A very poor product. Would not recommend at all.
Karcher K 2.180 - Piece of rubbish – Same experience as everyone else. Used it about 3 times and then on/off switch would not work. Absolute waste of money. Has now been filed in the garbage bin.
You get what you pay for – The machine is what I was told it would do. Don't got to Bunnings to but it. They don't know what you get out of it and what is to much. If you go directly through Karcher you won't be disappointed
Electrical Failure – Wife bought this machine from Bunnings nearly two years ago. Like many machines bought for home use it has only had very limited use; I would say 5 outings max during those two years. Wife reported that the On/Off switch would not always switching it on or off. I tried it recently and it wouldn't switch on at all. Without being forceful, I gave… Read more
the switch a little bit of a wiggle within its housing to see if that would establish a better connection internally. Result; dead short activating the house circuit breaker. Cannot now find the receipt of purchase. Thought of writing to Karcher but after reviewing the vast majority of reviews on this site, will not waste my time and simply buy a better quality replacement.
A reliable unit for average household – I bought this unit to wash the car originally. I use a foam lance attachment which works brilliantly with it and then I use the spray wand to blast off the foam. It's not a heavy duty unit so I know the pressure won't be high enough to damage our car's finish. We also have used it to clean the mildew off our fence and clean our deck and it did… Read more · 2
this no problems. It's performed flawlessly in the two and half years we've had it. Cost us $130 from Bunnings. The spray hose was too short, so I bought a 10 M extension hose. Very happy but if I was going to do complete house washing or something more demanding, I'd recommend one of Karcher's heavier units.
Famous brand piece of garbage – Man, please, save your money and your patience. It is complete piece of garbage. The Water gun broke with few hours of usage. Honestly, everything is made of cheap plastic. The pressure also is not really that good. If you won't loose your money and time and avoid headaches, I do recommend do not buy Karcher. At least not mid price products. None Poor materials. Not reliable.
below average – ok for light cleaning, and suction hose doesn't work, wouldn't buy another
Karcher K 2.180 – Bought Two years ago and used once only. Just tried to use it for a second time and nothing, it's completely dead, one job wonder!
