Kathmandu Retreat 360

Great and amazing – Excellent tent for big family and camping on the weekend. We like it and proven made with quality materials.
Really loving this for a family of 4+ – We've used this tent 5 times so far (we camp each quarter on average). It's huge, has loads of room, we fit 2 spinifex stretchers in each side room (the deluxe size will *just* fit but might spill over to the middle room slightly, see my photos), storage in the back room and dining table with up to probably 8 people in the middle. No issues in… Read more
wind or rain, probably takes me about 2 hours to set up solo or 1 hour with some help. Hammering in the million pegs for the fly is the longest bit.
Setup is fairly easy, packing away can take some getting used to but you just have to fold it as thin as possible to the width of the bag and then roll it up together with the fly. Then sit on it and slowly compress the air out to make it all fit.
Highly recommended!
Heavy duty poles – Does Kathmandu have heavy duty poles that now come with the retreat 360 in 2018, after all the broken poles customers have bought back in. Have katmanduu acknowledgement the problem and referee it back to the manufacturer to fix
Blue poles break on every use – The manufacturers seem to have acknowledged the problem as the more recent version of the retreat 360 has elbows for the blue poles - presumably to take the strain off. On the version we have, the blue poles snap EVERY time we use it - and everytime we get kathmandu to give us a replacement. I've just taken them in this morning and have asked if you can use the poles from the new version on our tent - but they don't know. Very frustrating.
Great tent for a family or couple that need ample space – I highly recommend this tent it for families, group camping or couples that camp with allot of gear. It's high quality and easy to setup in 30 minutes after one or two goes. We've used ours about three times in various terrains. We live in Western Australia so you tent plenty of camp sites with sticks, stones, rocks and allot of sand. I purchased… Read more
this tent new with upgraded heavy duty poles so I never experienced any of the issues with the poles that others have mentioned.
I purchased some hessian fabric from BCF to put under the tent to protect the floor. I highly recommend doing this as it's quite an investment to purchase this tent and you want to make sure you protect it and increase the life span of the tent. Some lessons learnt form using it are that it's best to put it up during the day as it's much easier than playing with a tent of this size in the dark with torches. If you are staying at a caravan park or a place where tent sites are split up into blocks, call in advance and tell them the dimensionless of the tent so you make sure you get a block where the tent can fit. As you don't be using a tent of this size every second weekend, make sure pack up and clean out the tent making sure it's dry before you put it away. This will make unpacking it so much easier next time.
My only criticism is that I wish that the fly was separates into 2 sections. One covering the three main rooms, and then another would add the main entrance and tiny section on the back side. This would allow you to use it as a 3 room tent with the option to expand to 4 rooms when you have the need. Something for Kathmandu to consider. All in all I do love the tent and give it 4 stars.
I hope this has helped.
Snapping poles – Good tent but the fibre glass poles are bent and had one black and one grey pole snapped on me. Kathmandu wants to charge me for it. All other poles have bends in them. So we will see if it lasts.
Bendy poles – Over all we are happy with this tent however have had issues with the poles bending in the connection part & snapping this happened with our blue poles & Kathmandu did replace them free of charge which was great but only for those replacement poles to start bending again half way threw our camping trip & formed a v type look in the middle causing… Read more
it to put immense strain on the lining also noticed when we pulled it down the yellow poles are starting to bend too.
Best tent ive ever owned – I scored my retreat 360 second hand for half the price so maybe a bit bias although if I could afford full price I'd pay it. I have blue grey one. Very spacious inside. Ultra modern design. Everybody remarks on its design. Only negarive is lack of ceiling vents. These are needed on warm days The look No ceiling venting
Best 7m meter tent out there! – Got this tent 1 year ago. I have got to say very good. It only leaked a few drops in super heavy rain and it is very durable unlike my old high-country tent. takes about 20 minutes to set up but really forgiving when you get all that room. weighs 35kg. best tent!! you can sleep more than 8 people easily. reliable, durable, not to expensive, so much room, great design, very simple and easy to set up. heavy
Leaky Verandah – Poor design of fly, Kathmandu maintain it would leak the same around all zip entries on the entire tent fly, just the verandah is attached so the water leaks into the tent floor. Moderate rain for 1 hour and the tent leaked, we were given full replacement of the product as goodwill. Living areas and vestibule Within 1 hour in moderate rain, the… Read more
front verandah leaked in all 5 zip entries and was not a one off, was sunny days in between to dry out and rained again only to leak again in the same zip entries
