We already used a clay clumping litter, so I was expecting very little issues changing over. I wanted to try a litter that was a bit cheaper, so I decided to try Katz Loo. Big mistake! The bags are heavy, but you expect that with clay clumping litters. The biggest issue is the clumps. They break far too easily, leaving small bits of clumped urine or faeces that are almost impossible to catch in our scoops. Our scoops are designed for this type of litter, and we have no issue with our usual brand so this is a Katz Loo problem. It didn't matter how long after use I scooped, about 70-80% of the clumps broke apart. That's a no-no for clumping litters!
The other major issue I had with Katz Loo was that it got "heavier" the longer it was used. Our regular litter stays "light", which means scooping is no great issue despite issues with my hands and spine. Katz Loo, however, seems to absorb moisture from the environment and from the urine. Hopefully this makes sense, but it's like the entire litter box got wetter and wetter, and heavier! When I scooped, I could visibly notice the difference between the 2 litters. With our regular litter, it remains light and easily scoopable, but not Katz Loo!
There is also very little odor control once the litter's been used for 5-7 days. Our regular litter doesn't need to be completely changed for a couple of months, so having stinky clumps and a litter box that simply doesn't smell as fresh as it should was a definite downer.
Will I continue to use this litter? Heck no!! I'm going back to our regular litter, and the second bag of Katz Loo that I haven't yet used will be donated to a local cat rescue. Very disappointing, very unhappy that it so poorly lived up to expectations, and very happy to be back to our regular litter after all the inconvenience!!
Follow-up · I received an email from ProductReview asking me to do a follow up because some of you have asked questions that I didn't answer. Since I excel at waffling on about any topic, I figured why the heck not! Buckle up ... "What about tracking?" I also bought a new mat to put next to our litter box (which isn't really a "box", it's a huge 72 litre plastic tub I bought from Bunnings) so it's hard to be precise, but I personally felt there was less litter outside the box than "usual". Now if you deal with a lot of tracking, you might also want to buy the same mat, cause it's honestly been a bit of a game changer! It's a honeycomb mat that's like an envelope, where the litter falls through the open honeycomb top onto a mat that's just flat. You can pick it up and tip it back into the litterbox. I bought it from Temu for about $15 I think. They sell plenty of them from various sellers, and in various sizes. I'm seriously thinking of buying another smaller one for the other side of our litter box! :D "How was the dust?" Considering this is basically the same litter, you'd expect there to be the same amount of dust, right? No, not really, there was a bit less dust at the beginning than Ever Clean, but that changed after our kitties had used it a few times. I'm not sure how to explain this properly, but as I've already mentioned, the clumps were pathetic and kept breaking apart when we scooped. When that happened, it seemed to become dustier. "Did it stick to the tray?" Again, our litter box is huge, and it's very deep (about 4-6") which stops pee from reaching the bottom. But one of our kitties likes to dig in the corner if there's so much as a hint of poop in the middle, and it does stick there. When I scoop it out, I lift one end of the tub and shake it down to the other end as far as I can without it tipping out, which usually helps anything stuck to the sides to loosen or break free. But yes, it does stick. I don't think I've ever used a litter that didn't, now I think about it!

Heavy when delivered, 20Kg. May be OK for some people but as I age, I find myself unable to lift the box. And now, unable to lift the bags, individually (arthritis). In use, as long as you are able to fill the litter tray as recommended to a depth of 10cm, it works as described. However, wet litter is very heavy and once again, lifting it out can be a bit touch and go, especially if you have dodgy joints. The lumps also inclined to break up, and you end up with a scattering of wet litter wherever it dropped. I’ve had it three times, my cat kinda likes it but we are going back to Chandlers on the next buy.

Relief for You, Your nose and wallet & Your Kitty – I went to a wood fines litter and it never clumped properly. It's a godsend to go back to a kitty litter that has clumping ability. I am flummoxed that so many of my clients use crystal litter - it stinks, sharp on the paw pads & beans and you have to replace the whole thing after one wee. Katz-loo doesn't smell, it clumps so well you can tell if your cat is peeing enough, lasts so long because the pee can be scooped in one action, leaving the rest completely clean and is so fine kitty just loves to dig in it. Make sure you wear a mask when pouring as it's a little dusty. They just need to change their courier as my first order never arrived so they very generously sent me the same order again saying that you f the other one turned up I needn't pay for the second one. The 2nd one turned up after I spoke to the courier. Apparently the drivers can sort something out that the logistics manager of this courier cannot. Thank you driver.
I have had this kitty litter a month now and even though I am cleaning it out 3-4 times a day, it doesn't smell at all and I haven't used the whole first bag yet.
So it is VERY economical being approximately the same price as the best clumping from Woolworths BUT includes delivery.
There is a new one out but it is $29.99/bag that is 2.5kg to screw you buy 3 every 12weeks as against circa $18/20kg bag delivered going on for 2 months for 1 bag....

Not happy – I've used Catsan, from Coles, for years and have always been happy with it. I saw Katz-Loo advertised and thought that I'd give it a try. I'm very unhappy with it. Once wet, it gets very heavy to remove from tray and sometimes sticks to the base of tray making removal more difficult. The litter can also stick to the scoop (it is a holey scoop) then it requires some scrubbing to remove it. I'm going back to Catsan. It clumps very well and is easy to remove from tray without sticking to the base. Also, I clean the tray often throughout the day, whenever I see a "donation" from my cat.
