Best purchase ever – Great seat height, nice and light, most of my riding is around town but is very accommodating out on the open road as well. I've had a KLX 300, a 250 ninja and the ER6N, they all have clunky gearboxes. Love this bike regardless. Would recommend at least giving one a test ride, you won't be disappointed. Show details
Great All Rounder – I have the 2013 ER-6n (non LAMS version) model, its easy to ride, not too aggressive when you twist the throttle though fast enough to lose your licence, fun bike for riding in the twisties, also a great bike for touring, did Adelaide to Sydney & back 3000km comfortably, the seat is plush & the bike has little to no vibration when cruising at highway speeds (100 - 110km) ... Absolute novice, dream come true – Starting from scratch, didn't want a fake pocket rocket (125, 250 or 300), especially being 6' 2''. I'm definitely the cut off height, but bike looks amazing, mine's green but any color looks great, and rides like a mountain bike, love it. Just feels natural and starting to corner beautifully, so forgiving for a beginner but loads of power.
2010-2011 Pocket rocket – ER6n..650cc short to medium distance bike , reaches the speed limit and good on the fuel weighs around 200kg great sport bike, heaps of fun, good commuter if you fit a GIVI 36 L monokey box on it you can use it for an overnighter or around the neigbourhood for a few groceries Zippy, comfortable , easy to ride Mirrors could be a little larger , but who wants to see where they've been anyway ! Love this bike – I actually have the er6nL, which is a slightly detuned version to meet LAMS requirements. This means that it is basically only JUST within the boundaries of LAMS. and THAT means that it's plenty of fun for a learner bike. Plenty of kick when you need it! Having said all that, the engine is predictable and docile. It's quick, but the power… Read more
doesnt jump out at you suddenly. A really great commuter for the city or highway, and plenty of fun in the twisties Reliable, good mileage, fun
Great little commuter & all rounder – I purchased a brand new er-6 in 2010. It's easy to ride with an upright seating position that benefits both novice (lams) and experienced riders alike. (I own the R class version). The power of the R class version is more than enough for surburbia and the open road alike. The low down torque is great as you can take a corner at 40kmh in 4th gear… Read more
then roll it on back up to the speed limit quite easily. I love the sound of this bike's exhaust over a typical 4 cylinder with the occasional pop & bark from the exhaust on de accell and down changes.
The only downside of the bike's power & short wheel base combo is that it can be a bit naughty as it wheelies very easily. I've had the front wheel lift while accelerating up hill unintentionally in second so if your not expecting it, it can be a shock. It will also lift the front end out of corners, particularly after unloading after a direction change. In other words, if you go thru a roundabout for example, Right hand turn, flip it over to a left hand turn and power it, the front can lift easily which again can be a shock if your not expectiing it.
The brakes are adequate and will pull you up quickly from legal speeds. The rear can get very light during e-braking though I have never lifted the rear yet.
This is the first bike I've owned with ABS but compared to other bikes I test road in 2010, the Kawasaki ABS system is "coarse" compared to the other brands. Still, it is better than not having ABS at all and it's re assuring that it's there if I should ever need it.
Reliability wise, the only problem I have had is the rear chain adjuster lock nut mounts on the end of the swing arm have corroded from dirt being trapped inside them. I'd recommend anybody who owns an ER-6 to take these off the bike every now and them and clean the dirt out to prevent corrosion.
The instrument cluster can be a bit hard to read with the sun shining over your shoulder onto the binnacle. At night the big ugly single head lamp gives a good spread of light that lights up the corners so you can see your line and is better than most other bike's that I have seen with single head lamps.
Servicing costs have been ok, nothing too expensive. I got 11,000km out of the OEM dunlop roadsmart rear which was on the low side, but that was probably because the er-6 spin's the rear up in the wet easily, something I tested more often than I should have.
Battlax RE023 is a much better tyre on this bike. 8,000km's and about half worn and doesn't spin up as easily.
Top box on the back works well on an ER-6. Pick either the genuine or the Givi mount kit. the motech is heavy at 4.5kg. Try to get the genuine top box as the colour coded top panel looks great with the bike. Just a great all round bike. Swing arm adjusters corroded, wheelies too easily.
Knock out Kwaka – You can't go past the Er6n for value for money. Shop around and you will always come back to the Er6n. Handles beautifully, plenty of torque and zips through the twisties with the best of em.... And it's got ABS! Great learner bike. Who needs a litre bike? Only wannabe Casey Stoners! Great value for money, ABS, awesome design. As with a lot of naked bikes, the mirrors are a bit rubbish
Lots of bang for your buck!! – Great bike!! Excellent handling, perfectly balanced and nice note. Awesome bike for commuting or touring. Get a bag and rack for the back and there's still pillion room. Very comfortable to ride and fuel usage is really good. Powerful and plenty of torque, this bike is a must ride!! The black is best, it just screams 'don't mess with this bike'… Read more
and exudes attitude. Damn good ride. I love mine, and would recommend to anyone Sexy looks, comfortable, powerful, lots of torque, well balanced, handles like a dream and great on fuel bit clunky when shifting gears, could do with a bit more range between shifts.
A really great bike – I have just got a low milage 2009 er6n. My last road bike a Kawasaki 750 h2a tripple which i had until 1975 then the kids came along. Anyway a couple of months ago my wife said lets get another bike we always said we would. So we looked about and got the er6n in white which is beautiful in the metal photos' dont do it justice. I just can't say… Read more · 2
how impressed i am with the bike its very well finished handles has good brakes and a beautiful torquey engine. Also it has a decent size seat for a pillion which was a big factor for my wife and me as we are getting on a bit now. This bike has made us feel 25 again I loved the h2 but have to say the er6 appart from the excitement factor ( or maybe that should be the fear factor) is in a different league from seventies bikes in every respect by which i mean the ride, handeling, brakes, quality, finish, design, ergonomics etc.. This was the best thing we have dome for year get one and you will love every moment you are riding it regardless of you age. quality, finish, design, engine , ergonomics for pillion everything realy gearbox a bit clunky at times nothing dire as most bikes seem to be like this, but bit im getting better at it so this could be down to me.
Good – Great, fun bike if ridden well can keep up with all the high powered sports bikes, I have been to the Gold Coast from Sydney and back again without any issues. heaps of usable torque to get you out of trouble, styling, good for the price, comfy seat great pillion space too. no rebound damping, transmission a bit clunky it could have been geared a bit taller
Good – To me the ER6n looks way better than the Ninja 650... Bought discounted run out model last year, and so happy with my choice. My bike is not modified. Can't justify spending money to modify this already good package. I would recommend the Learner Approved version of this bike to new riders, and get a green one when you can. Ideal mid size… Read more
naked bike, easy to commute on roads with various speed limits friom 40 to 100 km/h. Rear mirror is not wide enough on the model I bought. It looks like they have fixed it on the newer model, and added ABS too ... I should have waited a year.
