Planned obsolescence. Don't waste your money – I am a Mechanical Engineer of thirty years experience and believe the build quality of the internals (the parts you don't see but are the most important) to be poor. I also believe planned obsolescence (usually a feature of cheap brands) has been designed in to encourage full replacement rather than repair. I invested in a $300 blender hoping to… Read more
get a product that would provide a reasonably long life. It worked okay, nothing more than any blender would do. Struggled with ice. A couple of years use and the coupling between the drive base and the jug wore smooth and would no longer engage requiring a new coupling. We were disappointed, but decided that replacing the coupling, at a cost of around $60, was worth it. Youtube videos showed that replacing the drive coupling was straightforward, only requiring the coupling to be unscrewed by firstly locking the drive rotor. This was very simple with the older models which allowed for a thin spanner to slide under the coupling. However in this later model, this feature had been designed out. The only way left to lock the rotor is to split the base. Locking the cooling fan with a thin screw driver pushed through the vent openings doesn't work as the fan is cheap plastic and falls apart easily. Kitchenaid have also ensured the base is difficult to splt by using screws requiring a special tool. Once apart it was apparent there was no means to lock the rotor. The internals were flimsy and fell apart easily. We had been intending on replacing our old appliances with Kitchenaid, but have come to the conclusion they are a cheap expensive brand. Nice on the outside, low quality internally. So we feel we have dodged a bullet. We have purchased a $70 kmart home brand to replace it. I won't expect much, but for a fifth of the cost (accounting for spares) it may be a much wiser investment. For a standard wear item, we have to throw it out. It is very sad Kitchenaid have decided to go down this path.
Surprising bad quality for a reputable brand – We purchased this blender in 2019 because it is a KitchenAid and it said it could handle ice crush and heavy mixes. Even though we normally use it only for smoothies and light sauces, we thought it was going to be a strong small appliance that will last for years. We were so wrong! After a couple of months, the blades started to show cracks and… Read more
they finally broke. When calling customer service, they told me I shouldn't be using it for ice or pesto. Which this blender was supposed to handle. It was under warranty, so they replaced the jug with a new one.
Around 1 year after the purchase, the internal base broke down. Again under warranty, they sent me a brand-new blender.
That new blender had exactly the same problem as the old one, the base broke down in the exact same part only a couple of months later.
When we realised, it was already out of warranty, so we kept using it. We bought the spare part online to replace it, but it was impossible to remove the shaft as it seems it was a fixed part.
After about a year, the motor variator cable broke and it was the end life of the blender.
We take care of everything we own and are careful about following instructions and recommendations from the manufacturers. So in this case, I can tell for sure that this blender was of horrible quality and no right to repair. And I guess that is the reason why KitchenAid discontinued this model.
We own other KitchenAid appliances and are happy with them, so we bought a new model, only because it has a 5-year warranty.
Adequate blender but not a laster – We bought this blender at Myer and found it to meet our needs quite well. However, it started to malfunction after about six months and was accelerating autonomously and then short circuiting. Thankfully it was replaced under warranty. However, after 12 months of average use, the replacement again stopped working one day while blending a soup.… Read more
Pretty disappointing. I think it’s a fine blender but we bought it hoping it would be one we have for years but I don’t think it’s a forever blender as both times failed after 12 months or less.
Elegant, tough and simple – Recieved as a gift to go with stand mixer. Easy to use. Handles anything. Looks great on the bench. Easy to clean. Gets used a lot, especially for smoothies. Multiple pre-set speed options and pulse. Easy to add ingredients through lid. Sturdy acrylic goblet. Flexible main lid is easy to attach, remove and clean. Show details
Blender Jug has Design Problems – We purchased this second Diamond blender approximately one year ago. We replaced it as the jug of the previous blender began leaking badly. The second blender worked fine for about 6 months then the new jug began to leak badly to the point that it was not useable. KitchenAid replaced under warranty however within less than another 6 months the… Read more
replacement jug began to leak. Reluctantly KitchenAid again replaced however within a week or so this has also begun to leak!! We are now wondering if the blender power unit connection to the jug is the problem. Whatever the reason this blender seems to have serious design flaws. We use the blender only for making fruit smoothies so the mechanisms are not placed are under unacceptable force or pressure.
Dead after 15 months! – Bought from Kitchen Warehouse eBay for around $250. Lightly used and used only about 20 times in that time. Always treated very well and looked after. I filled the jug with half almond milk, frozen bananas, blueberries, strawberries and several nuts. Turned it on DEAD! No lights! Tried to reset, NOTHING! What a joke. Rang KitchenAid, left a message, NOTHING! Garbage! In-built obsolescence! Show details
Good Product! – This blender has great blending abilities - allows me to make cold smoothies and puree with no difficulties. Easy to use and easy to clean. Blades do turn rusty easily though. Show details
Great kitchen gadget! – This blender blends fruits and vegetables easily and quickly! I love using it to prepare fruits smoothies. No problem with blending ice cubes. Easy to wash. I do wipe it down right away after cleaning though, for fear that the blades will turn rusty. Show details
Very good blender at a great price – The Magimix blender improves on the previous models by changing the connection to the motor. The new connection looks more sturdy and seems to lock in to the base more securely. It is fantastic for soup and Hummus which is all we use it for. Overall it does not feel as solid as the previous model but to soon to tell if this is the case. Show details
KITCHENAID Blender Suddenly Died – Bought the KitchenAid Blender (Ksb1585) for my chef partner over 2 years ago. Today it failed to operate. No lights, no sound, just dead. Tried numerous power outlets but no dice. Purchased 24/12/2016 at David Jones Melbourne. Can anybody advise on the warranty of this model? My Kitchenaid coffee pod machine in matching Empire Red, purchased on… Read more
the same day, is still going strong, so it's disappointing to have a product with great reputation for robustness and quality just die so suddenly. Unfortunately, whilst I have the receipt for the coffee machine, can't find the receipt for the blender. Should I try DJs or contact KitchenAid direct? Any advice appreciated.
Amazing Amazing Amazing – This is my second Kitchen Aid blender. Unfortunately the first one had a minor manufacturing issue, and after 3 years of use, they still let me return it for a full refund. So now I am onto my second Kitchen Aid Blender, the Diamond 1585. It is fantastic. I use it for smoothies (crushing ice is no problem), and blending hot soup. It is built to be able to withstand hot liquid mixing which is fantastic. It is a well built, solid machine. Show details
Ok for what i wanted – I purchased this solely for the purpose of making smoothies and it was pretty good. I later tried the chopping function for some vegetables and it completely turned it to slush. Pretty disappointing for an item that costs $200+. It's my first KitchenAid product and i can safely say i probably wouldn't buy anymore, i just wanted to see what all the hype was about. Show details

Best blender ever – I got this as a birthday gift after I’d done a lot of research about blenders. This was my favourite gift I’ve ever received! I use this to make smoothies every day and it has been perfect. It mixes everything super quickly and is ridiculously easy to clean. Could not recommend it more Show details

Excellent product – Powerful, has lasted ages, easy to clean, all very good. The rotor that spins the actual blender jug does wear out but replacement part is easy to find and fit Show details
Amazing Blender – I purchased this blender because my Breville one broke after only a year. The Myer sales assistant explained to me that this was because all the parts on most blenders are plastic so after a little while they will become brittle & break, like mine did. So he recommended the Kitchenaid to me however it was a little more pricey than the others. I… Read more
asked him why I should spend the extra money & he explained that if I did he wont be seeing me again in another year to buy a new blender again. So I spent the extra money & I am so glad I did, its an amazing blender! I make everything in there, smoothies (nearly every day), cocktails, Raw treats - everything! Its definetly worth the money.
Pretty Good – That's pretty good blender but it just have little water between the pitcher and the metal base when the blender run don't know normal or not... the other thing is good..and it looks beautiful. Show details
Love it – I purchased the Kitchenaid Diamond after my trusted blender of 12 yrs died. Could not be happier with this purchase. From smoothies to soups & everything else you can think of to blend, this does it perfectly. Show details
O-ring on the blender pitcher broke about 10 months in – The o-ring on the bottom of the blender pitcher has broken off and now the blender leaks and it has only been 9 months since purchase. Whatever you blend just ends up draining out the bottom. Spoke to the store where we purchased and they said we need to contact KitchenAid. Looked on here to find information about how to get a replacement and there are limited details and no way to contact when you look up warranty information. Show details
Wonderful Blender – I have had this blender for a while now and it is perfect it does everything I need it to and is great for making smoothies, crushing ice and also for blending vegetables when I need to. Its well worth the investment Show details
Awesome – Was a bit concerned about how the small motor would perform, for a house hold that makes at least 2 ice and frozen fruit based smoothies a day. It handles it all with ease, very impressed and would highly recommend this blender to anyone looking for a true workhorse. Show details · 1
Good for smoothies! – we use this in the household on a daily basis and mostly for making smoothies on the go. Looks good on the kitchen bench and this is a reliable blender that is fairly well built and functional. This is very practical, looks good and quite easy to wash. The noise level is okay and what you would expect most blenders to make. Show details · 1
Great value and powerful! – Great value for the money, powerful and functions like a blender worth much more. The shape of the container helps to keep food going down and hitting the blades, I haven't had to scrape the sides once. Purees things very easily. Only wish there were more options for speed. It's very powerfull – I am very happy with product, it is very powerful and blends quickly and evenly and you can have a nice smoothie. I even tried mixing ice and it was still very good with breaking the ice, it also has a mode for breaking ice. Show details · 1
Good budget blender – This model won't break the bank and has all of the functions you need to blend your favourite beverages.Works well with both solids and liquids. Have chucked pretty much everything into it and it hasn't missed a beat. Fairly noisy when running but that is normal with these products. Show details · 1
Great kitchen aid BUT – I use my blender everyday. It makes my dietary drink perfectly for breakfast and lunch everytime. I only have two negatives. One, the machine is very noisy and two, it leaves a black residue on the rotating plate everytime I use it. Show details
