Black Mark for Kitchenaid – After about 2 years of light use various cracks appeared in the plastic bowl near the handle. This resulted in the sensitive safety interlock system not working. The mixer therefore will not work. We have other Kitchenaid products and are pleased with these. Will not be buying anything else from them, this product was not cheap and is supposed to be of good quality. Show details
Agreed – I also have replaced the bowl twice and the lid once on my Empire Red 5KFPM77OAER1 food processor. We hardly use the machine so it's shockingly bad quality that we have had to repeatedly replace these parts. The bowl is no longer available so now I will have to replace the whole thing as the bowl won't properly lock in place to allow the machine to operated. Show details
Dont buy any Kitchen Products. Their post purchase service is nil and the products are faulty – I bought this Kitchenaid Processor years ago. In the first year I had to go through the long process of getting a replacement bowl under warranty because it cracked - and then later another, because the handle would no longer lock. The warranty was finished. I now have a thing that wont start because the handles failsafe mechanism that stops the… Read more
processor starting, has stopped working and so that the motor will not start at all. Yayyy. I'm so pleased I spent $600 on this piece of garbage which was "Made in China". The sales person told me it would last a lifetime. Sure. I have tried to contact Kitchen Aid, but theyve gone underground, no doubt to see how much longer they can sell their faulty products to anyone who will pay more. They are riding on the back of an old well marketed company name. I see they are bringing down their prices now - but its still garbage. Take note and Stay Away from anything Kitchenaid.

Excellent mixer – We have owned our mixer for 7 years and it is still going strong. I was quite surprised considering it is made in China. Nothing has broken, everything works and all accessories are perfect. The unit is very heavy and stable on the bench. It comes with a box of accessories that are very useful. Overall a very good unit. My wife loves it. When used… Read more
regularly it saves you heaps of time.
Washing: In the beginning we used to hand wash, but this took too long and it was a pain. We now chuck everything in the dishwasher and to date nothing has broken or deteriorated. I would highly recommend this KitchenAid product.
So far so good – After reading previous reviews on this food processor I was very hesitant about purchasing this item, but had the mixer so have tryed my luck. So far touch wood I love this item as much as my mixer, and always get comments from friends how classy they look on my bench. I guess only time will tell if this lives up to the 5 stars I have given it. Fingers crossed!
Great product – This has been a lifesaver in the kitchen. With a small baby learning to eat and with all the new recipes in learning for both us and the baby the kitchen aid has made life a lot easier. Simple to use and easy to clean I'm using it pretty much every day. Have had it almost two years now and still working like new

Unsustainable design – Seems I’ve done better at 11 years use than many other reviewers - but my 3rd replacement work bowl is now cracking and with no spare parts available, a $600 processor goes to landfill because nothing works without it. A perfect motor and a mass of attachments are worthless. I think it’s heinous that a company can stop making a fundamental item so… Read more
the processor is redundant. It must be deliberate marketing to force the customer to buy a completely new processor. All because of a faulty plastic bowl. I’m buying Magimix this time.
Broken after 10 uses - impossible to contact KitchenAid – I bought my KitchenAid KFPM770 processor from Costco 5 years ago but have only used it a small number of times. The plastic drive shaft cracked In half and needs replacing but KitchenAid's phone number explains there’ll be a wait to answer my call and then hangs up. I’ve tried another five times with the same result. I tried filling in the online… Read more
assistance form but the model number of this processor isn’t in the drop down list (I suspect because it’s not a current model). If you try a different model it asks for the serial number and it then comes up as invalid. I’m very annoyed that what I though was a quality machine is actually very cheaply built in China and broke so easily. I doubt I’ll ever be able to get in touch with kitchenaid to see if they’d be good enough to back their product by fixing it. I’m not keen on paying to have it fixed. As I can’t get in touch with Kitchenaid I may have to return it and see if Costco can help me as Kitchenaid have gone AWOL. I even tried email the only email address on their website which is for PR but they haven’t answered and it’s been three days. I suspect there are better brands out there and I’ll be looking at them after I get this sorted, I suggest you do the same.
Nightmare to clean. Very poor design – First machine vibrated so badly it would unlock mid process and therefore stop. Had it replaced. Very disappointed overall. Difficult to clean. Poor designing. Regret buying it. Feel frustrated and disappointed each time I use it. Bulky design taking up huge amount of storage. Very unhappy customer. No more Kitchen aid for me. Show details

Centre shaft fused to multipurpose blade – Very disappointing. Whilst making bread crumbs the centre shaft fused to the multipurpose blade. Had to pay to have it removed. Not expensive but there are no replacement parts for this model as they have released a new model. I now cannot use the large bowl as I don't have a blade. Lift your game Kitchen Aid and make spare parts available. Hardly a way to encourage me to buy another Kitchen Aid appliance. Show details
Design flaw – I bought one of these just over two years ago. About a year ago I had to order a replacement bowl under warranty because of cracking - this was replaced under warranty. Now (that is two months after the end of the warranty) the failsafe mechanism in the handle that prevents the device starting if the handle is not correctly positioned has ceased to function, so that the motor will not start at all. Repeated failures – Purchased years ago and was initially happy with the product. It was being used in an irregular non commercial basis. The handle that has the locking mechanism failed. The plastic actually broke where the handle meets the bowl. Disappointed I purchased another bowel/ handle assembly from the kitchen shop I originally purchased from. I got… Read more
specific instructions on which way to use the bowel and how to store etc. Being extremely careful this time around I was disappointed that the handle again broke in the same spot.
After contacting kitchen aid they told me I could purchase a replacement from them.
They also asked me for a purchase receipt that is impossible for me to now supply as the shop I purchased from has since closed down.
This is not the only kitchen aid product that has failed me. I also had a four slice toaster that failed. Rather than argue with kitchen aid to replace the item without a purchase receipt from a shop that has closed down I threw it in the bin.
Fingers crossed the other kitchen aid products do not fail.
I do regret purchasing these expensive products. Keep your receipts! Or throw the trash out.
Disappointed – I purchased this food processor to upgrade my 30 year old, still functional, processor. I have had it for just over 3 years, so now out of warranty. Used it 20 times maximum. Whilst making a batch of shortcrust pastry the centre spindle shaft became jammed inside the blade. Massive effort to remove the bowl from the machine and then the… Read more
spindle. Having paid $429.00 I am now going to be up for the repair expenses for what is still a fairly new machine. Very disappointing.

Has a significant design problem – The product worked well until it was just out of warranty. At that time it failed. KitchenAid were quite helpful and we were advised that this is a common problem and all we needed was a new bowl. We obtained this and it worked happily for a further two years. Now we have the same problem and need another new bowl. The safety interlock… Read more
mechanism is either poorly designed or poorly manufactured. I would have thought that a product costing over $500 5 years ago and has had intermittent domestic use would be somewhat more robust. We have a Kenwood mixer purchased in 1978 that is still performing as new. If you are thinking of a mixer pay close attention to the operation of the safety interlock mechanism as in my opinion it is quite fragile
Poor design and Kitchen Aid wants to charge to replace with same rubbish – For years I have put up with the poor grating design - as others have said bits of food get stuck between the grater and the lid and just will not grate. I have also put up with the leaking, despite not filling too full. Made it a very expensive substandard food processor, but for the little that I use it I put up with it. A few weeks ago I… Read more
noticed mould growing in the handle of the bowl and the lid. I was appalled. i rang their customer service department to see how i could dismantle it and clean it. I was told this is not possible. That I would need to replace the parts. With identical parts with exactly the same design fault. But I could have a discount. Of course, they are well aware the problem will happen again, but what could the woman I spoke to do? I would just need to repurchase again. My suggestion of putting in my feedback to the designers so this wasn't a recurring problem resulted in a huge sigh and her hanging up on me.
Kitchen Aid is expensive rubbish.
Machine is sturdy, has overheated, but the problem is the build up of gunge inside the handles which – It works ok but the cleaning is difficult as you really have to soak the bowls and lid as the dishwasher manages to push the fine dirt into the handle assembly and lodges there looking gross. I s there a method to open these and being able to reassemble that the average handyperson can do? Show details

Great brand. Poor functionality – Unfortunately, I had this item on our wedding registry and my parents forked out loads of cash to buy this for us as a gift. So now I feel terrible getting rid of it. The bowls are designed to leak and overflow. The egg whip only works if there are over 8 eggs in the bowl (due to the height of the attachment) and when we use 8 eggs, the bowl overflows! Its a bit of a 'candid camera' moment! Very heavy! hard to store. So disappointed :(
When grating carrots or zucchini large pieces at the end just whizz around on top of blade – When grating carrots or zucchini. The end pieces just whizz around on top of blade so you either waste food or have to grate by hand or leave chunks. None of these options appeal to me. I bought kitchen aid as I thought I was buying quality. Just a waste of time and money.
Substandard product, not worth the money, designed to fail – Bought the Artisan 770 Processor. I use it for emulsions and Pesto's, Aioli, etc. Have not used it for anything strenuous. The overheating when making a Mayo is because of the design flaw, there is only 5 tiny slots on the underside for heat dissipation. Anyone making a Mayo or salsa Verde knows to slowly drizzle oil in to thicken, the process… Read more
takes between 4-7 minutes depending on temp, freshness of eggs, etc. The machine would heat up to the point I had to turn it off, it was hot on the OUTSIDE casing! Leaving the machine unusable for hours. Soon after the ON/OFF button ceased working (possibly to overheating inside) so you had to stand and hold the button down. I had only used it a couple of times the first year, then when I started to use it 35-50 minutes a week it clapped out pretty quickly. Being out of warranty I took the base plate off and drilled another 6 holes in the base plate for hot air dissipation, no luck.
Total waste of time and money.
When are the tosser executives going to learn, make a good product and stand by it and the sales will come and the good reputation. It is so sad to see a once trusted brand become such a piece of trash. And reading the stand mixer reviews it seems it's flagship product is suffering the same fate.
Saw their "NEW LINE" today as I was purchasing a replacement and it's gotten worse. The products weigh even less, feel more flimsy and your right pocket would have more metal than their products! Good luck! The only people that should buy these products are the ones accessorising their Kitchen for a mag shoot (like the obligatory San Pellegrino bottles), or ones that don't actually cook but want to look impressive to their guests.
nightmare – I bought this for my wife as a present. Recommended by a chef. I though buying the best and paying for it would mean if there was a problem (unlikely) it would be fixed. Not true. The first 9 months was great then the lid failed to engage and it did not operate. Contact with the company was poor, they were rude and dismissive almost like we were… Read more
an uneducated consumer who did not know how to work the machine. Frustrating. We were unable to use it for a number on months while waiting for a replacement lid. Then it broke again. It was sent back to the factory. No word for a weeks. When contacted they had no record of it then after a few phone calls said they found it in the warehouse. It was sent back to us and the problems began again not long after. We were then told it is out of warranty. They said as a 'good will' gesture they will send us another lid. No lid sent. It has been 4 months. We now have a processor that only works if you push down on the lid with one hand and force, very hard forward with the other. I would have been fine if it broke and was fixed and the company were apologetic that their reliable and leading 'brand' let someone down. But no.
Terrible Product! – Having had a Kenwood for 25 years I thought I'd try a KitchenAid as everyone seemed to be raving about them. The only raving I've been doing is trying to get the company to acknowledge all my letters and emails. The bowl throws all my flour and sugar out, resulting in uneven baking measurements. The company have failed to respond and I've been trying for four years now! Very, very disappointing. Gone back to KENWOOD they are to be trusted.
Huge disappointment! – I have had other Kitchenaid appliances that have not missed a beat for over 20 years. However with this food processor, the bowl had to be replaced within a month or so, and now a couple of years later, after very careful use, I'm up for another. Like other reviewers, I agree that the machine is let down by the bowl which is a poor design, and just doesn't last with normal use. So sad a reflection on Kitchenaid!

Awesome mixer! – This machine is strong! It has tonnes of power for the most delicate of veggies to the toughest dough! I also use this mixer for shredding my salads, they always look so professionally made! … Read more
With only 3 buttons it is so easy to use. Don't believe the other rubbish comments about this mixer on this site, obviously they are just stupid men who shouldn't be using this kitchen tool anyway.
Absolutely usuless – You as well use a normal pot to cook! The process is flawed I dont understand how this product saved me time! You still have to prep all the ingredients prior to cooking ! Too many buttons you have to press! Worst idea ever.... to put it simply its a rice cooker mix with a chopper bowl mixer... its still easier to use a stove! Absolutely rubbish
Over time I've change my mid – Initially I was pleased with this product but even despite careful handling and only ever handwashing parts, a plastic section on the back of the handle split and then fell off. It can still be used, but looks broken and is harder to keep clean. Also not happy that when using liquids or larger amounts of dry ingredients, the lid leaks food out and… Read more
down the sides. Poor design for such an expensive machine. I persist with it but I'm not happy overall. Would not recommend. It is quiet, powerful and very well designed. It is solid and all the parts have a high quality finish/feel to them. It looks beautiful sitting on my kitchen bench (I chose brushed nickel). Functional, easier to clean up than I expected. Buttons well designed - all one piece so one wipe over and it's all clean. Three bowls a really useful feature. Also comes with a sturdy plastic storage box for all the blades etc. None that I have encountered. For those not inclined to read the instructions, I suggest you do...not too long winded and worth knowing all the features.
Saved so much time with preparation! – The kitchen Aid food processor is a god send for any kitchen. Food will chopped, shredded, pulsed within seconds and cleaning is a breeze.
Expensive waste of money! – I have had to replace the whole bowl at my expense after finding out that different parts of this machine fall under different warranty times, the problem is in the internal handle connections. I was blamed for leaving it all clicked in while not in use, which is how they are all displayed. The new bowl has now failed exactly the same way 12… Read more
months later, I did everything they said, we hardly use it. I have had a horrible time with Kitchenaid and will not waste my money on them again!
Extremely bad warranty service! Non-existent.
Be warned! – This machine is heavy without being forceful. It is bulky. It assembles in an awkward way in which the parts do not feel as though they will quite fit. Any use of it necessitates a load of dish washing. The mechanism whereby the lid via the bowl handle causes the machine to work is poor. Mine broke within 15 months of purchase [out of… Read more

Don't go near this machine. It was slightly cheaper than its French counterpart, but now with replacements will cost me more. See above
Very disappointed!!! – I have a KA mixer & toaster and I'm very happy with these products therefore I didn't research processors, Big Mistake!! The KA Food Processor leaks liquids & biscuit crumbs. but they're being difficult. They say I must be filling the bowl above the liquid line & that it's not designed for thin liquids. However it does not state this in the manual. KA released a new model (mid 2013) 2 months after I bought mine, the new model has a silicon seal. Why would they release a new model? Because the old one is an inferior product? I am in the process of trying to have a full refund or the appliance replaced with a new model that doesn't leak……hopefully. My 20 year old food processor was better than this one.

Motor is strong, but bowl design awful: do not buy! – After a few years of use the bowl on our KitchenAid Artisan Food Processor 5KFPM770 has failed. The design is very poor - does not seal properly and the internal workings of the safety switch cannot be cleaned and therefore eventually gunk up. Today the lid wedged shut so the whole machine is useless. New bowl and lid are virtually impossible to… Read more
get in Victoria and cost $150 or more. Previously, the plastic spindle cover permanently fixed over the drive shaft fused to the blade due to wear. Removing it was not easy but at least replacement part bought overseas was only $15 so we persevered with the machine. Wondering now whether to bother!
Will certainly never buy a Kitchen Aid anything, ever again! strong motor Accessories, and the main bowl are design nightmares. Obviously they were not tested properly. It is only carried by the well-recognised brand name.
Terrible Product – I can't slice any vegetables with the slicer, the kitchen aid locks out for everything. The bowl leaks when liquid is placed in it. I struggle to get it to line up so it doesn't lock out for safety. It is incredibly difficult to use, it barely chops anything, it is absolutely awful. It is $500 I won't get back. someone else, as I know it is a bad food processor and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. So I am out of pocket and will now need to buy another brand.
Shame to waste a nice power source on a poor bowl design – Impressed with the power unit from day one ... But having to replace the bowl and lid two years later to the tune of half the original purchase price is abhorrent. with something that works and lasts. This was an expensive machine that has failed due to lack of quality control for a part that most toy manufacturers could make, and would last for decades, for less than $20.00. Despite being pleased with other kitchenaid products, this has warned me off anything new that they offer. Fool me once!
Bowl design is clearly defective
what was wrong with the bowl. I have a kfp750 for where flour seems to leak and I am trying to determine if this is your problem?
Hopeless – A much anticipated CHristmas present from my husband that broke down (in two places) very quickly. Leaking Bowl – These KItchen Aid Food Processors are so disappointing. They leak from between the top of the bowl and the lid. button. The butter was not hard and using the pulse button made no difference. She was told the lids were not made to seal, great! Also, the egg whipper doesn't work but when I tipped the egg whites into a bowl and used my cheap hand beater they were perfect.
I have returned it for a full refund and will never buy Kitchen Aid again. I note that their new food processor DOES have a silicone seal which I was not told about but I saw it on TVSN. They actually emphasized how important it was to have this seal on the lid so that ingredients didn't leak out..........
Not good enough, a complete waste of time and effort.
Leaks between the lid and bowl and the egg whipper doesn't work
Badly designed – Very disappointed with the Kitchen-aid food processor, have had to replace the bowl twice. The first time it was replaced under warranty but i had to purchase the second replacement.
