So much trouble to toast – We got our KitchenAid toaster a long time ago now, but despite following guides and tips, we've never been able to get this toaster to work reliably. We bought it for the brand because KitchenAid is usually a high quality premium brand, but this toaster is far from it. Burns toast on the edge constantly and nothing we can do has fixed the… Read more
problem. Due to the expense of this toaster, we kept it and tried to work with it but after over a year of burnt toast, we are done.
It is set to the lowest setting and burns on the edges.
Do yourself a favour DON’T – Do yourself a favour DON’T buy this toaster. I wish I had read the reviews on this product before purchase. It performs exactly how stated from all the other 1 star reviews. The settings 1and 2 burns the bread on one side and leaves the other side uncooked! Any higher and there is serious risk of starting a fire. Imagine my surprise when i… Read more
discovered that KitchenAid have continued to sell a product that has performed in the same way since the first review almost 5 years ago in 2016. The issue still has not been resolved
Worse toaster for the money – Had this toaster 20 months and lever won’t stay down. The most expensive toaster I ever owned and lasted the least longest. I also purchased 15 other Kitchen aid products including appliances and will never again. Had them all under 2 years and most beginning to cause issues or flat out stopped working. Cheaper models last and work so much better than kitchen aid, that will be the last thing I ever buy with their name on it Show details
Dissapointing – Terrible toaster.i have quiet a few kitchenaid products and I love them.this however is the worst toaster I’ve ever bought.it was purchased at David Jones as my Christmas present 2019 and I’ve just opened it,all we get is uneven toasting but worst of all if someone uses it straight after on the same setting it burns it black.its not cheap so I’m really upset Show details
The absolute worst toaster experience of my entire existence as a human – I'm writing this at 10am on a Sunday morning, when all I want is a nice piece of toast on a relaxing day. But no, here I am instead on ProductReview venting and warning all to not touch this equipment. This has been the worst toaster experience of my life. I am not being over dramatic. I've given this product two weeks, with daily use. For the… Read more
money that you invest in a product such as this, you'd expect the Rolls Royce of toasters. Instead you have a terrible (made in China) toaster that cooks unevenly and requires multiple toasts at low temperature, while you stand there monitoring. You need to time it yourself otherwise it burns. Just awful and not fit for purpose. I do not believe that this is a faulty unit as I've now read plenty of other reviews echoing same sentiment. I will take this back to Good Guys for a refund. KitchenAid - be ashamed of this product, considering my wife loves your brand and we have other high end products that are loved in our kitchen. DO NOT BUY A KITCHEN AID TOASTER. You have been warned. Now also just read that Choice gave this product a Shonky Award. I should have researched first but TRUSTED this brand. End Rant.
C'mon Kitchenaid you're better than this – There is not enough gradation between the cooking settings. 2 is undercooked, 3 is burnt. Even worse with crumpets. It burns the outside edge, but leaves the centre untouched. I've had a Standmixer for 11 year-end its great, which is why I thought I could trust the brand with a toaster. Seems Kitchenaid are exploiting their good reputation in… Read more
mixers, and adding some retro style, but not bothering to invest in the actual function of the toaster. So disappointed.
Awful toaster, not worth the money, worse customer service – So I decided to upgrade my trusty sunbeam and unfortunately threw it out because straight out of the box this product under performed. The toaster is completely incapable of even toasting. One side will burn while the other is barely lightly toasted. I wish I could attach photos! Perhaps more offensive is the ridiculous customer service.… Read more
Contacted kitchen aid customer service and waited over a week for a response, send back the requested information and 10days (with one weekend) later still no response. Unacceptable.
Do not buy!!! It is rubbish!!! – Worst toaster I have ever had!!! You would think with the cost and the good brand you were buying a decent product. Wrong!!! I’m sure this product was never tested before it was placed on the shelves for sale. It does not cook evenly at all. it burns around the edges and cooks in patches on one side of the bread while the other side of the bread… Read more
is still uncooked. You have to stand at the toaster to put it back in again and manually operate it to get the other side of the bread to brown meantime the patchy side goes black. Wish I had read the reviews before I bought this product. I returned it to Peter’s of Kensington and replaced it with a 4 slice DeLonghi Icona toaster which is amazing and cooks the bread evenly which is what you want from a toaster.
Crap! Don’t waste your money – Wish I have read these reviews before purchasing! Don’t know how they are still selling this piece of crap! Over $200 for a toaster that can’t toast bread! Burnt or uncooked are the only options! Wonder if KitchenAid have even tested this toaster! Returned it and bought a Breville that actually works! Show details
Chuck it on two!!!!!!!!! – slots are a great size for thick bread, bagels and hot cross buns stick it on two and everything is perfect!!!!!!!!!!! don't listen to everyone else who is complaining, i genuinely don't know what they're doing wrong. easily the best slot toaster i've ever had. i'm a big fan! yes! Uneven toasting – This is a beautiful toaster, but it doesn’t make good toast. I’m not sure if it is just mine, but the element appears bent and so the toast comes out very uneven. On level 2 I get burned edges. I’ve been trying to get in contact with KitchenAid but so far they haven’t been responding. Very disappointed as I’ve loved all my other kitchenAid appliances Show details
If It’s All About The Decor – A lot of money for a toaster. Looks great. We have found a suitable browning setting, and it seems pretty quick ( They say red ones go fast). It does have a bell which “dings” when your toast is done. Bear this in mind if you are up early and other light sleepers in your household are still sleeping. I was surprised to discover despite the price… Read more · 1
it does not have cool to touch external surfaces. The ejector works well - you won’t have your toast being launched across the kitchen. Long slots allow larger and odd shaped slices of bread to be toasted. The controls are well placed, easy to see and the browning knob has 6 “click” settings, not a dial with infinite settings. Crumb tray removes easily - a little push has it springing out a little so it is easy to extract and replace. The long slots are wide enough for your “Texas Toast” and despite not having used the crumpet setting yet, I note the diagram atop the toaster adjacent to the slots which reminds you to put the crumpets in with holes towards the centre. The toaster feels pretty solid. Still can’t believe we paid so much for a toaster. Looks as though all toasters are Made in China. Pretty happy with this one but have only had it about 3 weeks.
Total rubbish – Don't buy one side dark other light, not enough adjustment, crumbs catch around join on top this many bad reviews and you buy one you will be sorry bought for my wife as a present thought it was a better quality but old $20 toaster did a better job only good point it looks good, seems don't judge a book by its cover is still true. Know better, choose better.
Worst Toaster.....ever – I purchased the KA 4 slot toaster as well as the KitchenAid kettle and KA handheld mixer with a $500 birthday gift card from my daughter. It only cooks on one side and even on setting 2 incerates one side of the toast. I wish I hadn't given away my Breville which after 10 years was still toasting perfectly! Show details

I wish I'd read the reviews!!! – I bought this because I loved the red colour and the long shape suited my benchtop. I saw the product at Myer and thought they would only sell a reputable brand. How wrong I was! I should have read more reviews but was missing my morning toast too much. We tried to toast our homemade sourdough but the bread only ever toasted too little or burnt - just around the edges. I'll be returning this white elephant asap. Show details

Terrible, Burns unevenly!! – Received through flybuys points. Looks fantastic! But burns unevenly so much the toast is uneatable... either under cooked in the middle or burnt on the edges. contacted Kitchenaid service team they promptly sent out a replacement. Which does the same thing!!!!! exactly the same, like don't they pre-test there products before making available to the public Show details
Worst toaster ever purchased! – This is the most expensive toaster I have ever purchased and the WORST! I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. It either burns everything or doesn't cook. I have been persistent with it trying every combination of settings. I have tried cooking breakfast muffins, crumpets sour dough and bread slices. The results are terrible every… Read more
time. This is also the first KitchenAid product I have purchased. The plan was to then buy the kettle, coffee machine and mixer. I won't be going ahead with the other purchases now. Totally disappointed with this brand.
Do you want your bread burnt or really burnt? – I wish I had found these reviews before purchaing. Lesson learnt. Will check this site in the future. I expected more from such a reputable brand. No matter what the setting or the bread type, this toaster burns all bread. Actually the only setting it doesn't produce burnt toast is the lowest setting. There it only warms it up. I persisted and… Read more
tried different bread types with the same results.
Definitely not fit for purpose. Will be taking it back.

Burnt the toast from day 1 – I have had this artisan toaster for exactly one day. Even on the lightest setting, it burns the edges of the toast to a crisp- it set off the fire alarm as well. I can't understand why no matter how much I seem to pay for a toaster, they all end up being poor quality.... they toast unevenly, burn the toast... it is a real shame because I love my Kitchenaid mixer and swear by it- we wanted the toaster and kettle to match. I bought a crust burning smoke machine too Jeremy! – Taking it back today. Nothing Jeremy (below), or anyone else, has said is exaggerated. This is an unbelievably useless product. The house smells of burnt bread all the time. Yes, we bought it because it looked pretty! Wish we'd checked product review first. Fortunately the Good guys will let us return it. Show details

"Toaster" is not what this product is – In all honesty it's a little unfair to review this product as a "toaster" despite it being clearly labeled as such on the box. Having used it for a few weeks after replacing our other slightly less expensive but equally useless toaster it is clear to me now that this is not a toast making machine but a crust burning, smoke making machine. So I… Read more
shall review it as such:
The KitchenAid Long Slot KMT4116 Crust Burner & Smoke Maker
If like us, you work hard and appreciate the finer things in life then do not hesitate to spend nearly TWO HUNDRED clams on this fabulous crust burner and smoke maker.
Ignore the fact that the same result can be achieved with the cheapest loaf of bread and a box of matches, because what does that say about you? No! When friends and family drop around, you want them to glance at your kitchen bench and instantly know that you're the kind of person that takes their crust burning and smoke making seriously.
This is truly a remarkable product. I've owned similar looking kitchen appliances in the past but none that have offered the 100% reliability of this crust burner and smoke maker.
I'm not kidding here..... Every single time that we use it. Every. Single. Time... It doesn't matter what setting it's on, it doesn't matter what bread we use, within minutes it turns out perfectly charcoaled crusts and plumes of glorious white smoke. But the surprises don't end there, when you remove the bread (and I have no idea how they manage this) you'll find that it's warm to the touch, but completely uncooked.
Just let that sink in.
It makes no sense, and yet that's the result... Black, carcinogenic crusts, plumes of white smoke with a warm to the touch, but uncooked centre.
It's wonderful.
Of course it's extremely difficult; but if I had to pick one fault it would probably be that the good people at KitchenAid wrote the word "Toaster" on the box. Because it's possible that less discerning consumers than you or I might actually think that this is a machine capable of making toast..... and I might be nitpicking here, but it's absolutely not that. The KitchenAid Long Slot KMT4116 Toaster is about as capable of making toast as my fridge.
Anyway, I could go on for hours but my partner has just come home with an expensive loaf of artisan sourdough and I'm absolutely burning (pun intended! Zing!) for some charcoal crusts...
So happy crust burning and smoke making connoisseurs.
