KitchenAid Multi-Cooker 5KMC4244AMS (Medallion Silver)

A useful tool in the kitchen – I like this appliance, it’s great in particular for curries, risottos, stews, slow cooking, etc. It is true that sometimes you need to give it a bit of a helping hand as it can just push things around in the bottom of the pot without adequate turnover, but I find that this is only a problem when the content levels are low and more solid than liquid, so in these cases it’s not completely hands off. However, it still stops things from sticking and burning to the bottom.
* Features that I like: I like that there are two stirrers, one for the bottom and one for the side of the pot.
* Features that could be improved on: Silicone stirrers retain odours. Nonstick surface is easily scratched - therefore I'd be loath to use the steamer that comes with it. Compared to the Jamie Oliver stir cooker (discontinued): it takes up more bench space, but it has more capacity. The stirring action is better. The build appears to be of better quality.
Compared to the Thermomix: it browns food much better, you can use it with the lid off, greater capacity (requires more bench space), but having no blades, it doesn't blend or chop like the Thermomix.
Very disappointed – I bought this thinking it would be a great addition to my thermomix to cook large casseroles for winter. Unfortunately after the second use, using nothing but a soft silicone spatula, the Teflon coating they use, is scratched. No matter how careful you are this lovely looking appliance has left me in tears. I m afraid to use it. I own several Kitchen Aid products and have not been disappointed but this I m afraid is the lemon. Do not buy. You are better off with a simple slow cooker and not waste your hard earned money on this.
Purchased in for $450.
Don't waste your money – Very disappointed in this product. As with other review the temperatures are way off. My old twenty year old crock pot did a better job at slow cooking. I cooked baby potatoes yesterday and after six hours they were still not cooked through. The slow cook temperature is so low that I have always had to manually adjust the temperature to start slow cooking and to finish to fully cook through......Have persisted because of the cost. Don't waste $700 on this product.
