Kmart 12L Convection Oven

Good Value/ Nice Potato Wedges. I have two of these ovens - one for my Man Cave. Even if they only last a year...at $57 ea (from memory) that's pretty good going as the competition is far more expensive. Minor gripe. The Kmart version has a safety… Read more · 1
switch which my Aldi one didn't which I find a tad annoying but the Kmart version has a light that goes off and on while cooking which the Aldi one didn't (from memory) that I find useful. I only use the oven for potato wedges and while the ones on the top closest to the element cook a bit more than the ones on the bottom - no big deal. Shout out to Kmart who promptly refunded me after my first disastrous attempt to order one of these ovens on-line and after a month didn't reach me! One last thing...when these ovens eventually die you're left with a very large glass bowl that is useful fo all kinds of things.
Follow-up · Cleaning the glass bowl is a bit of an issue as it's quite heavy if you need to move it so it's best to clean it with hot soapy water in-situ i.e. take the water to it. The ovens can be a bit noisy. On one of my ovens there's a clattering sound as it starts up - I think the noise stops after a short time. The other oven is very quiet. When my Aldi… Read more
I bought this item just over three years ago and I have used it a lot. It works well. Recently it stopped working and a look under the lid revealed that the element has blown. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement element? Show details · 1
I purchased one of these ovens in April 2025 online from Kmart and was quite satisfied in the beginning. After a couple of months the numbers on the dials started to disappear and then it developed a noise in the heating part. The Temp and… Read more
timer dial numbers are just about all gone now so that's that. I suppose the lesson here is 'you get what you pay for'. I have just purchase another name brand and will be putting the anko 12L Convection Oven out in the next garbage collection. Oh, I can supply the order number if Kmart choose to reply.
Follow-up · As I said, I would be putting the Kmart brand oven out in the next garbage collection and that is exactly what I did. I have not heard anything from Kmart and obviously I am not going to. Let the buyer beware. I purchased another convection oven from an electrical store and am very pleased with this one.
Made a rattling sound from the moment I first used it. Contacted Kmart. Slow response - 1 weeks between emails. It’s been 3 weeks. Doesn’t look like I’m getting a refund! Steer clear of all Anko electrical products!

turned it on and noted how quiet it was but after a minute it started to chatter which slowly slowed down to a stop. And that was it. it just turned on and off as it overheated. I didn't trust the quality for an exchange! Show details

Keep your reciept because itl last 12 months IF your lucky – Update: April 2025. our two month old unit has started to get the fan bearing squeek and all the numbers off the top have worn off. For reference, we use the oven once a week maybe to heat breadrolls, and otger odds and ends while our main inbuilt oven is going. Its never had daily use and again its bit the dust. I threw it out and bought one off… Read more
amazon. I forgot to add as well that the glass bowls now chip very easily and we found shards of glass inside the bowl from the edge as well.
Kmart Ewaste....
original review.
About 5 years ago We bought one of these to replace our aged copperart home brand version that had an element rather than a stupid stadium halogen lightbulb. As it was a little old looking. In total we have had more than 6 of them, some dead out of box even.
I regret it every single day we have to use this piece of trash.
Why? -Because if you have moderate cooking skills you will realise this doesnt cook well. -They fall apart, constantly. We have had more than 6 of them so its about 1 per year we keep taking back and swapping with Kmart only for another 12 months roughly for it to die from similar faults. Kmart is good because they keep allowing us to swap the item endlessly though.
-Yesterday 13 Feb 2025 I went and got our newest variant identical only cheaper now costing $55 now compared to $79 years ago. Got it out of the box and bam, -Thermostat dial is loose and the safety switch is faulty meaning you have to pull the power cord to turn the oven off. So luckily Kmart have an endless replacement cycle on these things cuz this ones going back and Il grab another until something better comes along and i will give this one away for someone else to constantly cost Kmart replacement every 12 months.
Common faults: -Paint indicators for temp wipe off leaving no indicator for time or temp. -vibration noises, electrical burning smells. usually fan being poorly attached but have had one where wires loose. -Glass bowl chips and flakes into food if your not super vigilant. -Temp selector commonly loose and isnt accurate. wont allow temp adjustment -Timer Innacurate and wither fials to ding or goes as fast or slow as it wants. -Stop (safety switch) handle fails to stop or fails to allow oven to turn on -Wiring faults meaning excessive resisitance in internal wiring overheat and melt stuff up in the housing. -Internal fan comes loose and vibrates off or jams up causing grating noises or oven to overheat and burn out. -Screws fall out and into food. -

2 Bad Experiences – Purchased one last Friday, opened the box to find the glass bowl had shattered into a thousand pieces, returned Saturday morning, ordered another on Click & Collect, picked up today, opened the box to find more shattered glass, with a hole in the bottom of the bowl, not good enough Show details

why can't heat resistant baking silicone be used – Why can't you use heat resistant baking silicone muffen tray in this turbo oven. Other companies and of course Google say you can. Seems a strange thing to put in the instructions. edit; 6mths later unit going strong and I have used silicone in the unit no problems. edit; 12mths and love this little oven edit; another 12 mths and its a winner in my books Show details · 1
This is perfect, can't live without the product. Do no understan 58% negative feedbac. It's value for money – I bought the oven , I used for about 1.5 year for about$39 (~1.4 cent per day). To me it is good value for money. Show details · 3
will repair and if working will be happy – Turned on the first time light and element came on for an instant, then the element cracked and ceased working. I have ordered a new element with combined light. Hopefully when i receive my new part and fit it ,it should work, fingers crossed. Show details
Fixed and hasn’t missed a beat since June 2023 now June 2025. Part bought off EBay under $10
CHEAP, NASTY AND DANGEROUS PRODUCT – Purchased one of these a couple of months ago. At first it did the job like you would expect. The problem is that even though it boasts heat resistant glass, the glass is not resilient. The glass is fragile and brittle and chips very easily. Honestly, drinking glassware is more resilient. The worst is that the chips in the glass, when… Read more
heated, crack the bowl severely.
Furthermore, the non-beveled edges on the glass bowl are too sharp for safety.
I have had more than 3 good turbo ovens in the past, and they all had Pyrex bowls, and lasted 10+years.
This thing is cheap, dangerous and and a waste of money.
If I had found this review forum sooner, I would have taken photos and posted them,, however I have thrown this piece of garbage out in the trash beforehand.
Get yourself a turbo oven with a proper Pyrex bowl and glass fittings, even if you need to pay extra.

One of my favourite things – We bought this 3 or more years ago, after seeing one cooking pork belly at the markets. It’s the best value for money appliance I have ever bought - just brilliant for roasting meat and vegetables. We can use it in summer when turning the oven on is a no-no because it doesn’t heat up the, house. I’m off to buy a new one today - the bowl exploded in the sink last night! Show details
Beware!!!! – This thing EXPLODED last night! Fortunately my son had JUST left the kitchen when it happened. We’d just put chips on to cook

Find out how Kmart 12L Convection Oven compares to other Benchtop / Toaster Ovens
Know better, choose better.
Built in obsolesence – The oven shorted out causing power failure in house. Found the receipt, it is 13 months old so no refund due. Previous one also conked out after 14 months. I reckon this is deliberate to make you buy another one. Show details

cooks well but – this would a great little oven but it is the 2nd one that has stopped working in a very short time. Size wise it is good as i can get a whole roast dinner for the family in but unfortunately it has an issue with either not heating or just plain not turning on. Last one i had was only 3 months old Show details

Useless junk – Maybe i got a bad one but the heating element would come on in maybe 5 second bursts and go off for 60 to 90 seconds. The fan was noisy and stopped after 30 seconds in the first 10 minute pre use heat phase as instructed, and never came on again. After this i tried to cook 4 tendies. After 20 minutes at 180 they were still cold. After another 20… Read more
with the dial to 250 i picked them out by hand and they were luke warm on top and cold on the bottom. I used the microwave to cook them instead. Cleaned it, boxed it, returned it for a refund. Only reason i bought this was the store didn't have the normal bench top ovens. And this was to replace our 45L kmart bench oven which developed a short after 5 years and would trip the circuit breaker.

The oven will cook all the foods I want it to cook – I tested the temperature of the over on the bottom rack with a Lakeland oven thermometer. The element stayed on until the oven reached 190 degrees. The element then went on and off until the oven reached 230 degrees C. The rate of temperature rise was slower between 190 and 230 degrees because the element was off some of the time. I stopped my… Read more
test at 230 degrees because this temperature would meet all my cooking needs. I do not know if the temperature would have risen to 250 degrees if I had waited longer. This new model has an extra button to stop handle turning on the machine by accident and the power cord is stiffer and it is better protected against bending and heat.
Not as expected – I purchased this the other day as my oven broke down. I am going to take mine back, as it didn't cook the dish in the middle, left an awful mess, cooked on the outside only. Used as instructed, was only zucchini slice, had plenty from the garden & needed to use them up, had to turn slice upside down in another dish but still did not cook through… Read more
properly, would not recommend to buy this one, spend a bit more money on a good one. Had a Flavour wave but broke after 10 years of good cooking, may buy another if I can find it.
thermostat settings much too low – I purchased two of these convection ovens ( one after I returned one) because I could not get the oven up to the stated max temperature of 250c which if you want o cook a steak is required. The best I could do was 190c when the thermostat would shut down the power and maintain the oven at 190C max. The second oven was the same so I guess that the… Read more
manufactures have not calibrated the convection oven properly. I have bought 3 convection ovens from Kmart over the last 12 years and been very happy with them before. This new Anko branded one does not do the job. If you don't mind an oven that only goes up to 190c or so then it works ok. Regrettably, I had to buy another brand at twice the price.
Real value for money – Bought this product after seeing a more expensive ($300) one in action. The Kmart portable convection oven is $45 and does a brilliant job. Best value for money on any appliance I have owned. So easy to use and clean.
