1 Malak K.  · The potatoes don't fry fully and take a long time.. I don’t like this fryer
4 Elite F.  · price is justified – great according to the price point, do the job as compared to other brands
4 Fetu  · Correct size for silicone trays – What is the correct size for silicone tray for the Anko air fryer
1 karl szlezak  · not working – As usual air fryer stopped working just out warranty. So watch out for model #AF701

3 Chris  · this product was great – Until it stopped working after 18 months was only used once a day maximum and only mostly cooking for one

Can't remove basket – Hi, Just received this today by courier. I cannot release the basket in spite of pressing the red button. Is there a knack to this. Have done chicken but cannot clean properly. Can I unscrew to clean under the basket? Show details

Spend the money on a better unit – Even though the price was good the quality was not. Lasted a month before we had to get rid of it. Not crunchy and the element was twitchy. Best to invest in a more premium bnrad Show details

PRODUCT WARPS TOO MUCH – I have used this item four times now. The first and second times using this product and it performed better than expected for a Kmart Anko Product, however during the third use after preheating the Kmart Anko 5.3L Air Fryer for Approximately 3 Minutes, I noticed the casing started to warp making it extremely difficult to open and close the basket,… Read more

I struggled for 2 minutes (or until it cooled down) to be able to close the basket and continue cooking.

Today I attempted to use this product for the fourth time and the last time, After preheating for 3 minutes the casing base warped so much that the plastic pins and bottom of the basket were not lining up and I could no longer close the basket which in turn renders the Kmart Anko 5.3L Air Fryer useless and me feeling the uncontrollable urge to throw it out my two-story kitchen window smashing it to bits, that was best and cheapest $89 therapy I've could ever do.

I now know why most of the Kmart product reviews are fake and paid for, as the one time I had faith in your reviews and in Kmart Anko and well I wasted my money

heat loss – The air fryer design is very energy inefficient compared with my traditional convection oven. A hole in the cooking chamber 55mmx25mm is adjacent to the fan, resulting in a jet of hot air continuously ejected from the cooking chamber during the cooking process. I understand some heat will be lost by all ovens via thermal conductivity but no… Read more

electric oven should lose so much energy by air leakage from the cooking void. I also understand the need for a fan to cool the void containing the electronics and insulation voids.

This is the first air fryer I have seen and I do not know if all brands share this design flaw. It is a real shame because the efficiency gains from the compact size and the vigorous air circulation are offset by the heat leakage.

Kmart please address this issue and design the unit to be more environmentally friendly.

I noticed a few negative reviews for this unit, with drawer difficulties, but maybe this problem has been rectified because the drawer seems quite safe, robust and operates correctly.

I now know the hot air venting is by design to discharge moisture during the cooking process.

time saver – It takes less time than a conventional oven to cook food without oil. Very good for the health conscious. Very light and easy to clean. Is a little small for larger cake dishes . Show details

5.3L Kmart Air Fryer – This is the most used appliance in my house. I could not live without it. I live by myself and have not cooked a roast in my normal oven because I hate cleaning ovens! This Air Fryer is so easy to clean - just put it in the dishwasher or wash it in the sink. It is a very healthy way of cooking - all the fat drains below the basket - if there… Read more ·  1

is a lot of fat I pour it into a jar and put it in my garbage. If there is little fat, I wipe it with a paper towel and then wash it up. SO EASY, I often have roast dinners now. The roast vegetable are something else - potatoes, carrots, parsnips, pumpkin etc you name it - it can be cooked beautifully in the air fryer. I've never been able to get good crackle on my pork roasts - cooking it in the Air Fryer gives a no fail delicious crackling every time. I not only cook roasts - I also cook sausages, rissoles, chops, steak, whole roast chicken and roast lamb, cottage pie, chicken legs, chicken wings and breasts - anything you can cook in the normal oven can be cooked in the Air Fryer and a lot less electricity is used because you are not heating up as much space as you would in a normal oven. The use of this oven is not restricted to meat dishes - one of my most popular dishes is Cream Horns. It cooks pastry beautifully - not only for cream horns but also apple turnovers, matchsticks and anything else you would want to use pastry for. Baked apples are also a firm favourite. I live in a retirement village and have raved about this fantastic product so much, many of the people who live here have also bought an Air Fryer. We often compare recipes and talk about what we have been cooking. I can't believe how well priced this product is - it is far less than any brand and not as easy to clean in most cases.

Can’t fault it – Bought ours at the start of lock down - from memory - all those years ago and it hasn’t missed a beat. Money very well spent. We don’t use oil in it at all. It’s used at least twice a week. Everything goes in from chips to pork belly, cakes to chicken legs. Honestly it’s a really good little unit. I pop a dish washing tab in the basket and… Read more

tray and let it soak with boiling water for about 10-20 mins give it a swish then rinse really well with hot water and pop it back on high for 5 mins to dry it. You can also pop it in the dishwasher as well. Both the drawer and the basket. Wipe over with a cloth on the outside and I occasionally wipe the inside when cold with a wet microfibre cloth. I’m buying another to have on hand for when it eventually dies. With Christmas coming up and the amount of use it gets…we may kill the poor thing! It’s a basic Unit for sure but that means it’s really easy to use. And the price point now is cheaper than when I bought ours. We had a Phillips one many years ago and it was nowhere near as decent. For a KMart machine I feel like it’s absolutely done really well.

Razor sharp finish on pull out tray can cause injury – I bought this fryer after reading reviews on this site. It functions as it should, and is a good alternative to using the oven as long as your food fits into the pull out tray. The size of this pull out tray limits what you can cook in it. An air fryer is similar to an electric fan forced oven, but much smaller, and much quicker. However, take… Read more

care when cleaning the pullout tray as it has a razor sharp Interior which can injure fingers when cleaning it. In addition to this, the tray does not always glide in smoothly making it awkward and dangerous if you have to jiggle or force the tray back into the unit after checking your food.

I would not buy the same model again, because I don’t like the way that the pull out tray does not glide back easily, and I don’t expect to be injured while cleaning what is meant to be a very easy to use cooking tray. Anko the manufacturer’s brand, needs to monitor and adjust the design to ensure the appliance does not injure the user.

Our most frequently used kitchen appliance- love it! – This item has been our best kitchen purchase in years. I’m not actually sure how we got by without one for so long! Our hands were forced when our oven died, and we couldn’t afford a new one straight away. We have now purchased a lovely new oven as well, and it would be lucky to be used more than once a week. The Air Fryer, on the other hand,… Read more ·  1

gets used multiple times a day. Everything from toasted cheese sandwiches, to reheating foods that would go horrible in a microwave, to a whole chook or pork belly. This machine is so versatile, easy to use & clean, and cooks things perfectly! It does a better job than an oven, in a fraction of the time. I can’t rate the Kmart 5.3L Air Fryer highly enough, we are even tempted to buy a second, larger one!

I have read some reviews where people complain about getting the difficulty in getting the basket back in when it’s hot. You just have to hold it a little higher and it slides in easily. It gets stuck if you are just fractionally too low, always make sure you come in as high as it can go.

If you buy this machine, I’m pretty sure you’ll love it. We do!

Anko Air Fryer – The Anko airfryer is one of the best buys I made. I bought this 3 years ago. Lots of people have told me that anything Anko will not last but this item have been used almost every day and it is still going strong. Fried food use less oil and is more crispy and healthy. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to buy an airfryer. Show details ·  1

Just stopped working – I was not even halfway cooking battered fish and it just stopped working. I thought the power went out. Took it back to Kmart and was told I need a receipt even though Kmart is the only place that sells these and even after I told them what the problem was, which is obviously a manufacturers fault. Apparently, I have to throw this into landfill and purchase another one. Show details

Great airfyer if you look after it well – Daughter wanted an airfryer, I didn't know anything about them and we got this one to try out in case we didn't like it. Well....2 years later we still love it and it's going strong with no issues at all. No doubt there are better/bigger/fancier ones with more options available however for the 2 of us this one is perfect and we've never looked back. Very highly recommended if you want to see if you like airfrying without making a $$$ purchase. Show details ·  1

Mine just wont die – My air fryer must be about 5-6 years old now. The coating has come off the bottom of the basket and the base of the cooker container part. However, I dont cook in the base and use a perforated steel plate so not worried about the peeling. It has not skipped a beat and I'm very happy considering the price I paid. When it does finally die, I will buy the same again. Show details ·  1

Air Fryer Anko AF701 – So far so good , very impressed. I am struggling however to find the right size of silicone liners for this model. I'm after a pack of 3 and ideally from Amazon but open to suggestion on best place to buy. The correct size is more important for the AF701 model. Show details ·  1

A budget air fryer with a quality result – This air fryer was my first air fryer purchase and it has not disappointed. Works well...but early days – Works surprisingly well. In the 2 weeks I've had it's cooked lamb chops to perfection, great chips and baked spuds and a cake (soggy in the middle) The unit is very easy to use but feels plasticy so it's longevity may be limited. But at $89 at least you can cheaply see if you like air fryers before committing to an expensive purchase. Show details ·  1

Great – We purchased this air fryer 3 years ago and have used it constantly. For the price it's been awesome and its time to get another as its handles going and looks ratty.. Takes a while to get used to timings, but we've loved it.

2nd Unit. Wont buy again – This is my 2nd unit. They seem to last about 12mths of regular use.
