Kmart Anko Fitted Electric Blanket

DECEPTIVE PACKAGING. I thought that this blanket came with dual controls - one for each side of the blanket for each side of the bed, as the packaging clearly shows 2 heat controllers. Found out the hard way that there is only one heat controller, and one element for the WHOLE blanket. Absolutely useless for most double beds which have 2… Read more
people sleeping in them, who may both have different temperature needs. This product needs to be renamed 'wide single', since clearly it is only made for beds that have a single sleeper in them. POOR SHOW KMART. PICK UP YOUR ACT AND ADVERTISE YOUR PRODUCTS PROPERLY. So easy to get caught out on this one. BUYER BEWARE - Don't be sucked in by this product, which is simply an extra wide SINGLE blanket, and is absolutely USELESS for double beds that have 2 people in them.
I have just purchased this anko electric blanket and had it on for 3 hours and still not warm ? I think I’ll have to return it tomorrow? Not happy :(
This product is not exclusive to Kmart. It is also available at Target. I would have pushed this up to a possible 4 out of 5 stars however, pathetic instructions let it down. The instructions talk about setting the control when there are 2 controls. One left side one right side. The guide refers to an LED to indicate the blanket is on, when there… Read more
is numbers. I had purchased a queen size so smaller sizes will most likely have 1 controller. There should be diagrams for how to install the blanket. The instructions should also explain the expectations of the blanket. If this is your first electric blanket, you will question if the unit is even working. This blanket should be turned on max 30 to 40 minutes before getting into bed. Your bed will be amazing on the coldest nights. The instructions NEED to mention this wait time, as this will be the first time many customers will be using an electric under blanket. With a max output of 110W, its cheap to run and at current electricity prices that will be about 3 to 4 cents to warm your bed up (based on 37c/kwh) or just under a dollar to leave it on all day. Even though it will automatically turn off after 12 hours. So if you accidentally leave it on and went to work, that's about 50 cents and it will turn itself off. This product is not crap because of its function. Its a great entry level electric blanket and quite possibly the best $60 you'll spend on bedding. No, the issue with this product is the lack of any after thought about a 5 cent piece of paper called the instructions. Each blanket size should have its own instruction guide relevant to it as a single bed will probably have 1 controller. Telling people what to expect and how to use the product properly would make this a great addition for any linen closet. Its perfect for the guests in winter or as even a back up for more luxurious units. They should describe the goods as a "Fitted Electric Under Blanket" Also on smaller beds, the cord plug may be an issue while sleeping while the queen size is absolutely fine unless you sleep on the edge due to bed hogging cats.

The connectors are badly placed near your shoulders and are very big and hard. Very unpleasant if rolled on or can bruise you when getting in/out of bed. The blanket is too hot on the low setting, so we had to kick off all the blankets, leaving us cold on top and toasting underneath. Only tried it twice before removing it and putting it in the bin. Took it back the next day because the plastic lump where the cord attaches to the blanket was obtrusive and sharp but no refund was allowed as it is bedding. Other companies manage to refund if you dislike their pillows or mattresses, why not an electric blanket? I left it on the counter as it was no use to me and went to buy another one somewhere else. Will be a while before I buy cheap Kmart stuff again. Show details

My daughter and I both purchased Anko Queen sized electric blankets a few years ago. We both soon discovered that on heating setting 1, there was virtually nothing, setting 2 not much better, setting 3 would get the bed toasty warm, but then if you turned down to 1 or 2 to keep it a bit warm, forget it, cold again. We figured you get what you pay… Read more
for. She ended up throwing hers out, while I persevered with mine as I'm alone and I don't use it much. Now mine's dead, and I'm finding many stores are using 3rd party vendors so purchases are online only and you have to wait for delivery. Reasonable priced ones like Jason have bad reviews, and dearer ones like Sunbeam are $200. I ended up giving Anko another go..same rubbish, different time, but at least my bed was toasty warm when I got into it last night. It'll do for what I want.

Even at a budget price, this blanket is not worth it. It’s made of cheap polyester that feels rough and plasticky against the skin — even with a fitted sheet over it. The material is genuinely uncomfortable to lie on and left my skin feeling irritated and itchy after just one night. It’s also not breathable at all. I woke up sweating in the… Read more
middle of the night, and the electric blanket wasn’t even on. It just traps body heat underneath you and turns the bed into a hot, sticky mess.
On top of all that, the heating performance is weak. Even on the highest setting, it barely warms up, and whatever heat it does give off gets lost in the discomfort of the fabric.
I used it once and returned it the next day. Honestly, save your money — this isn’t even worth the low price tag. Spend a bit more for something actually usable.
Had it on for over a hour and it only got slightly warm. Returned Show details

The package & Instructions Call It 2 Seperate Products. How do you use... this... safely? – The packaging calls it a fitted electric blanket, but the instructions call it an UNDER BLANKET. So what is it exactly? Since death can occur from using either electrical items incorrectly. Under OPERATION in the manual it states "Use the blanket as an under blanket only". To put it simply, I have no intention of using an electrical product that doesn't know what it is. Show details

A significant fail – Very dangerous. I strongly advise if you item one to throw it in the rubbish as I did. Why? The digital switch is so sensitive that a touch with your toe while making the bed or the cat waking past it and touching it "will" switch it on. Not maybe it will and to make that worse the first don't it goes to is high. This happened to us on numerous… Read more
occasions. On one occasion this happened and a pillow was on the bed. It was so hot we could barely touch the covers. If you own one throw it out. These should be banned. I write this review a bit belated as my purchase was last winter and I see them still did sale at KMART and I was quite surprised. I am not after a refund or reward I just want this noted and the product removed or made safe.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your… Read more
