It cooks rice well, but it is very slow - 50 minutes for two measuring cups of basmati rice. I can cook rice (not quite as well, but not too bad) in a third of that time using my microwave's rice setting. Its congee setting is subpar - congee is better on the stovetop. We tried cooking porridge and it was disappointing. It's also very big,… Read more

and hard to wipe down and dry. We would have got equally good results for basmati rice from a super cheap cooker (like the one we used to have that had three settings: cook, warm, off).

So far made small amount of rice (1 cup) and it was cooked to perfection. Next was chicken soup. It was cooked well on default settings. Replacement of old Panasonic. Impressed with this multi rice cooker for the price. Easy to clean. Show details ·  1

After 1 year use my non stick pot has slight discoloration on the bottom already. And I can’t leave it on keep warm mode for more than 2 hours as my rice gets sticky on the bottom where it’s discolored. Other than that, I like that machine. Congee, stews and curries turns out really well.. I can cook from single to multiple servings & portion them to freeze for later. Show details ·  1

Better than the Tefal of the same design – I am happy with this rice multicooker, I previously had the Tefal rice multicooker which was the same design, however this is better because the water does NOT bubble out the top of the steam hole of this one and the rubber lip inside doesn't drip water into the element in the bottom of the cooker when you open the lid, the water from the steam… Read more ·  1

still gathers in the rubber lip in the lid however it does not drip out when opening and the cord attachment is still detachable but will stay firmly in place and the rubber feet on the bottom keeps the unit firmly in place when opening the lid.

It has several functions for cooking different styles of rice and also cooking cakes and soup and it will alert you with a buzzer at the end of cooking and the rice is nice and fluffy, it also has a folding handle on the cooker which makes it easy to carry from cupboard to benchtop, my kitchen is small and this is a decent size and can't stay out due to lack of bench space for me and it's not heavy to carry, even given its size.

My only disappointment is it takes 35 minutes to cook the rice and that is double time to what it takes to boil rice on stovetop but with rice cooker you can set it and forget and not have to hover over the stove for the occasional stirring of the rice and checking its not boiling over. It took me a couple of try's to get the perfect rice because the markings on the inside bowl are not exact and I tried the water level to rice ratio using the water markings inside the bowl and my rice had become gloopy and some grains didn't cook, so now I wash my rice 3 times and use a plastic measuring jug of water instead of using the markings in the bowl to the recommended ratio and my rice has been coming out not gloopy but fluffy and all grains are now cooked.

This cooker says it will cook cakes for you, however their are no recipes for cake cooking all the booklet says is pick a suitable recipe and mix and bake on the cake function, so your basically winging it, it would be nice to have just 1 cake recipe included.

Reasons I like this

Anko Rice Multicooker

* Water does NOT gather on the outside of the steam hole * Water does NOT drip onto the element when opening the lid * It stays in place when opening the lid and does not slide across the bench * The detachable cord stays in place and is not loose * Rice comes out nice and fluffy once you tweak it to your specifications * Cheaper than the Tefal but does a better job * Buzzer at the end of cooking * Easy to select what your cooking IE type of rice or cakes/soups etc * Set and forget

Small Annoyances

* 35 minutes is a long time to cook white rice * took several try's to get the perfect rice * The lack of some instruction/s for cake cooking * The water markings on the inside bowl seem to be off slightly, it's better to try a measuring jug.

Wonderful and value for money machine - but with a design flaw – In most respects a wonderful and value-for-money machine - but with a design flaw limiting its usefulness for steaming. Our multicooker works supremely well for cooking all types of rice and other grains, eg barley. It comes with a generous size steamer basket - but one that is so badly designed that it fails to function as a steamer. The pot is… Read more ·  1

not designed with an indented rim at the top, in the way that all our earlier rice cookers were. This means that the steamer basket cannot seat securely and it slides down to the bottom of the pot, particularly with a heavier load of foods. We phoned the enquiry line detailed on the booklet and were immediately offered a refund, which is peace of mind, but not what we wanted. The operator assured us our feedback would be reported, but no practical suggestions were given for overcoming the design flaw. Have since purchased a silicon steamer basket on which the supplied plastic basket sits (can only be silicon in contact with the pot's surface). Thanks to our own ingenuity we now have an effective steamer. However this is all a sad reflection on the manufacturer's poor design.

Great Value Rice Cooker that Works Fine – We've had a number of rice cookers over many years (my wife is Japanese) and were a bit dubious that such a cheap one could be any good, but we've been pleasantly surprised. One simple thing that is better than our last one is that you can actually see the water level measurements which is essential. In other aspects it's comparable to other, much more expensive models. Show details ·  1

Confused and need help- Took 1 full hour to cook 5 cups of rice – Just cooked 5 cups of white rice and it took exactly 1 hr from start to finish( according to progress display). I opened the lid 35 mins in after reading everyone's reviews (that's how long it takes) the rice looks completely cooked but the cooking progress displays still says it's in boiling stage. The manual doesn't explain much at all. Can… Read more

someone/Kmart please advise me if my situation is normal? All I did was press menu, select white rice and hit start. Also can someone/Kmart please advise me on how to use the Fast Cook option? The manual doesn't say what it can be used for? And how long does the Fast Cook take for white rice? Please help before I return the product. Cos 1 hr is not feasible for me when all my previous rice cookers only take max 30 mins regardless of volume.

Magnificent rice cooker – KRC641 is great product, we bought it forA$65 and the rice come as fluffy as one would think. The instructions are not the best.So we used 2cups of 250ml of rice to 4 of 250ml cups of water. It took 35min from start to finish the perfect fluffy rice.Plastic cup provided is to small and doesn't make any sense how to apply the ratio rice to water. But this product is amazing all around. Show details ·  1

Perfectly cooked rice – This rice cooker is value for money and cooks rice perfectly. I'm very happy with it. If I had to criticise it, the only thing I could come up with is that it takes longer than my previous rice cooker took to cook rice. It certainly does a much better job though. The rice is perfectly cooked and nothing sticks to the bottom, so I'll deal with the extra time Show details ·  1

Great machine just some (Very) minor issues – Being really honest, so far it's a great machine. It's like a cheap knock off Zojirushi for way less. It really helps those who need itz to have a really decent rice multicooker at a quarter of the price of a top brand. The small downsides is the vent on the top gets really really hot whilst cooking, I burned mhself just touching the edge of it.… Read more ·  1

This means it would have to be removed before cooking if you needed it off.

The other downside is size. It takes 10 cups! Great for making hotpot or near commercial quantities of rice but a bit odd for everyday use for a family or single person. Otherwise works a treat.

A 5.5 cup model at $45 or $55 would be a steal..

Excellent rice cooker at budget price – Bought this rice cooker at Kmart for $65 after reading satisfied customer reviews. It indeed cooks excellent rice right through from top to bottom without sticking or crusting the base. It has a sturdy non-stick bowl. Also comes with a steaming basket. Menu options are Crispy Rice, White, Brown, Soup, Steam, Congee, Cake and Reheat. We have only… Read more ·  1

had it for about 4 months and used it for white rice including Basmati rice and are very happy with the results. One small issue concerns condensation under the lid when you open the cooker. This produces a bit of water around the edge of the bowl and needs to be wiped off to avoid dripping down. But this is only a minor problem.
