I bought a Kogan washing machine 8kg top load for my husband’s parents and it stopped working not long after purchase it fills with water but doesn’t spin or continue the cycle. The machine is still under warranty, but after it broke down I contacted Kogan multiple times over several weeks and never received a single reply. Being completely… Read more

ignored is extremely frustrating and unacceptable. The product quality is poor and the after sales service is even worse. Very disappointed and I won’t be buying from Kogan again.

Kogan 10kg KAWWASHT10B top loading washing machine Dark Graphite – This machine has been working well for last 6mnths Pros: it can fit a Queen Size mink blanket or Quilt for sale of sanity & does wash them well. Clothes do wash well & can fit a basket & some in a full load (unlike other models saying 9kg but only 4.5kg of clothes can actually fit & definitely not a Queen Size blanket) My usual wash is max water… Read more

level (warm) 10-12mins wash with 1 rinse & 7-9mins spin. This works good and is time efficient doing it manually this way.

Cons: Automatically wants to do 2 full rinses Manual and controls are confusing and don’t match up exactly in areas so that’s a pain. Normal wash will leave clothes tangled & can cause stretching ( normal wash seems too harsh) Gentle wash is far too gentle and doesn’t wash well with a full load at all. Machine is also fairly load. Detergent dispenser only good for powder so timed washing can’t be done with liquids because it’ll trickle out onto dry clothes.

Kogan 10kg top loader – Worst machine I have ever owned. Family of 3 and we were conscious about weight in machine so not to strain but it lasted only 14 months before breakdown and cost of fixing was almost amount paid for the washing machine. On the positive we brought a fisher & paykel 10kg front loader $1,099 and it is the best machine I have ever brought. So moral… Read more

of the review stay away from this machine I do not understand how it has such good reviews, I hope this helps someone not to have to go through the waste of time and money that we went through good luck.

Good washer, but the drive belt went – Good washer for just over two years (the warranty period), then the drive belt (part number O-545E) got too stretched and the drum wouldn't agitate or spin. Contacted Kogan spares and they don't supply this belt (pretty lame). I found an alternate at PT Parts in Northcote Victoria (www.naismith.com.au) - part number: Z19.75VB, $22 delivered by tracked post. To change it took a phillips head screwdriver, a 10mm socket/spanner and 15 minutes. Show details

Don't do it - if you do, I've warned you – Worst washing machine - if you want your clothes torn to pieces and want to untangle knot's - go for it. The digital control is a nightmare to use. The joke is - I'm a service tech and have worked on washing machines for 40 years - I bought this because of price - ha ha. Be warned !! Because of the knot's, You will have to buy wash protector bags, then wonder if those clothes are washed properly - can't wait to get rid of it. Show details

Very Noisy – I’ve had the machine about a month. It’s getting louder and louder. It’s washing the clothes ok but sometimes the clothes that come out are still quite wet. Other times they are spun dryer. Not sure if I would recommend due to all the noise and vibrating. I’m actually waiting for it to break down It’s making so much noise. Show details

TANGLES everything – This is my first top loading machine without a centre column, so yes there's LOTS of room. The price was great, however in this instance you get what you pay for. Even with only setting the wash for ONE minute, it tangles everything, causing things to stretch out of shape. Putting everything into separate laundry washing bags of varying sizes… Read more

from lingerie to sheets & towels, all the bags become entangled and so washing is beyond an arduous task. VERY DISAPPOINTED with this purchase.

A Huge Machine! Great Price But Average Quality – The price of this 10kg washing machine was unbelievable and even with delivery it was much cheaper than other brands. Also the delivery of this machine was VERY fast considering I live in a regional area of WA. The machine is relatively easy to work out how to use, is fairly quiet and the lack of an agitator is great for easy loading and… Read more

unloading. It does wash large amounts of items in a fairly short space of time but unfortunately I've found that the more items in the load (especially big items - jumpers, jeans, towels etc.), the more the load becomes tangled together after the final spin. Speaking of which, after a couple of major tangles some tangled items have still been quite wet and I've wanted to do a little extra spin but I can't seem to work out how to do a 'spin only' cycle. Even adding spin only on a Custom cycle the machine keeps automatically adding a wash cycle!

A few other minor annoyances I have found after using it for a couple of weeks (1-2 loads per day) is that the softener dispenser is a little difficult to get to, slightly bigger menu/cycle item text on the machine would be nice and, although the lint filter is large and easily accessible, the machine does not collect anywhere as much lint as my previous machine. Some washed items have lint and fluff remaining on them and if I use the clothes dryer I have to empty the dryer's lint basket mid-cycle which I've never had to do before. Like the aforementioned tangles, I have found that the less I put in a load, the cleaner the items come out.

Overall it is an average quality, family-sized washing machine at a great price but the little issues with it are frustrating for me. Disappointingly, this is stated to be a 10kg machine but doing less than 5kg loads seem to work best for getting everything clean and lint free and for preventing tangles. I am hoping that in the coming weeks/months I will either solve the annoyances or learn to live with them.

For the price it’s perfect – I have had this machine for about a year now. I experienced my first issue today where the error code E4 came up and I noticed the lid felt funny. So got t back into place and it was all good. The clothes get very tangled by the end but that’s no issue. I’m really happy with it, easy to clean, has a good filter, nice to do large loads. Show details

Just the trick – Handles all our household throws at it. Auto sensing is great. Close the lid and let it work out the right cycle. So happy with this purchase I can totally recommend it  Show details

Super Cheap and showing signs of malfunction after 8 months – Kogan 10kg top loader washer - Bought April 2021. OK we are heavy washing machine users - here's an extended review which will update from time to time. Purchased this item on Thursday with premium freight and it arrived today (Saturday after Easter). Delivery was very smooth - old machine (Speedqueen toploader industrial washer - awn552sn301 -… Read more

which had a faulty timing unit and the drum was grating inside the machine) was removed as was the new unit packaging.

The unit was quite small for a 10KG washer but looks the part and set up was easy (no shipping bolts). The unit has carry handles either side at the front and built in rollers at the back. We checked it was level and locked it in place with boards. A mat/grid is provided for placing on the underside of the unit with slide in guides (this is a bit awkward but no major issue) not really sure it's function else you have a big hole under the unit (maybe to stop lizards/mice entering the unit?).

We ran the first wash with no laundry as stipulated in the manual. After that we put in 8 towels (these are those lite Ikea bath towels). At this point please note we have a doggy daycare and the towels are dirtier than normal with grass, mud and fur (also we had an absolute drenching of rain over Easter and our grounds are wet and muddy).

'Normal' setting was was done in 43 mins and we noted that the drum was clean but the towels still retained some grass etc. Essentially the towels were clean enough for our purposes but if you are a super clean freak then I think you might be a little disappointed (there is a 'Heavy Duty' setting that might be useful here too). The most telling element here is the lack of an agitator - which allows for easier loading but less thorough cleaning.

Interestingly the spin cycle seems to be pretty good - all towels were dry in an hour in 32 degree heat (2:45 to 3:45pm, very light winds). This was a big plus for us.

For this wash water usage was 96 litres and power usage was not recorded (but a similar wash later used 0.116 Kwh over 56 minutes for a 43 minutes wash - consider the time it takes to fill with water isn't part of the machine's stated wash time) - this is about half the power usage of our previous (SpeedQueen industrial washer). Nice!

Typically we wash twice daily so will let you know how this progresses and whether we have to get a more expensive model. For now this is a good buy, quickly delivered and performs well in the face of heavy duty dirt - and efficient on power if not water (AND VERY CHEAP).

A real standout was the time remaining readout which appears to be accurate unlike some other models (e.g., Bosch) which adjust as they go and can show 1minute remaining for up to 10 minutes before the cycle really ends.

We are giving this 3 star build quality for now cause it's hard to tell on day 1 - will update as needed.

Update after 1 week - 15 washes, 1.785kl water, 2.197 Kwh power, 15:03 hours. Drying time after wash is exceptional. Machine is still performing quietly and operation is 2 touch. Wash quality is a little sub-par (noticeable grass and fur remains) compared to Speedqueen (which wasn't perfect either but had an agitator) but it is quicker and uses less water and quieter. Most grass and fur shakes off when dry. So far so good. Will increase the quality rating to 4 after a month at this rate as it still seems too early.

Update after 2nd week - over 30 washes, 3.7 Kl water, 4.64 Kwh power, 32:42 hours. Consistent results with first week.

Update after 1 month - over 60 washes and 7.5 Kl water, 14Kwh power, 95 + hours. Results consistent. If you want better wash then load no more than 4kg. Same for the effect of entangled clothes - put less in. The lint filter is pretty effective in this model as far as the new style of filter is concerned - but it can't be expected to perform better than the old style. The machine will shake and rattle if you put in 10kg worth of clothes as the shock absorbers in this model can't stop the drum from hitting the chassis. We have found that about 6kg of clothes will work well enough but more than that and you get drum bias and then rattles/noise. Build quality increased to 4 as promised.

Regular updates will end here and I will add more if anything substantial happens, else it has been pretty consistent to date.

8 Month Update - the spinning cycle is broken, it won't spin the clothes have put in a request for help to Kogan (30 Dec 2021) - tough time of year will let you know how that goes..

Love my new Kogan washing machine! – I can wash heaps in one go so time and energy efficient. Every thing from sheets towels everyday clothes and delicates. Love the easy to read and good performance of the programs available and the choice of custom settings if I wish. adjusts to weight of clothes. The cycle times are reasonable and in no time ready to hang compared to my 5 year old front loader that packed it in and took forever it seemed to finish a cycle. Plus the top loader is easier on the back when putting in and removing clothing.

I'm upset, stressed & feeling lost here – I bought mine about 3 months ago, what frustrated me at first is it knotting up and stretching everything, having to sit and untangle everything annoyed me but I dealt with it because I'm not a complainer. But now it keeps stopping with a full drum of water with E1 on the screen. I'm currently handwashing in a bathtub for a family of 8. Kogan not responding Show details

Value for money – Bought this washer on moving out of home for the first time. It was basically the cheapest one I could find at the time that was a top loader (I'm tall). Four months of use and I haven't had any issues with the machine. You can adjust the amount of water used, spin times, etc. which is good. The only problem I had at the start was a leaky hose,… Read more

however I'm not 100% sure if it was a fault with the hose or with my taps. I fixed it with a $9 replacement hose from Bunnings and it seems to have done the trick. The controls could possibly be a little clearer and the detergent box/compartment has a bit of a strange design. I use powder detergent and it's impossible to fill it completely because it has holes in the bottom, so some of the powder always runs out onto my clothes. Not a big issue though.

Beware dodgy machine & service – Purchased the Kogan 10kg washing machine on 6th February & I am writing this on the 29th February 2020. Excellent Value – I purchased this washing machine about a month ago and I’m very impressed. To start with it arrived sooner than expected (which is always great) and it was packaged really well. in a washer. The only downside for me is the buttons aren’t easy to decipher without having familiarised yourself with the manual first, which is just a little annoying. Aside from that you definitely can’t beat the value for money especially considering you can purchase additional warranty for peace of mind.
