taped the window kit to the window frame so it’s nice and secure. Other portable air cons we’ve had in the past don’t even compare to this one! It blasts cold air throughout the room instead of just one direction so everyone in different areas can feel cool instead of just the person sitting directly in front of it. Probably our best purchase this year by far. Very happy family here.

next to useless and was unsure how to install the exhaust in the window. However out of sheer desperation I decided to take the plunge and i'm so happy I did.

I put this on about an hour before bed and it cools the room down enough to get to sleep which is all I wanted.

It is noisy, I wouldn't be able to sleep with it on.

It's not as effective as a split system, it's pretty ineffective during the day when the sun is hitting the room.

A window kit is supplied and they are EASY to install. No drill holes or any structural changes required, which is important if you are in a rental.

sentences), but with some fiddling it was pretty straightforward to figure out. The window kit and slider is not long enough and is only suitable for sliding or sash windows, and does not fit casement windows (as we have), but we managed to improvise (it would have been helpful to know this beforehand, but was not mentioned in the product description or specifications online). It emits slightly more noise than the average pedestal fan. It runs efficiently and blows lovely, cold air, with three fan speeds and a swing vent. I’m not so keen on the vent facing toward the ceiling, and the swing function only allows it to blow slightly lower, but not straight ahead (it takes longer to cool high ceiling homes, as ours is). It would also be helpful to have longer exhaust tubing, and I think the mechanism for attaching the tubing to the round plastic connectors could be improved. The window kit slider needs to be longer to fit taller windows.

Overall, we are very happy with the unit, especially for the price, and could recommend it.

How quiet or loud is the unit?

VERY **** LOUD, i don't understand how can people write comment such as :"nice for kids bedroom", or "very quite". It's advertised to be 54 db maximum from 1m away, but i tested a solid 62 db from 1m away. In case you don't know, db is non linear measurement, around 6-10 db increase would means doubling the loudness.

So, if you like having a gas station air pump in your living room with cooling function, then this is the product for you. 0/5

Im returning my unit and probably won't be getting the same one. My advice if your buying an portable aircon is to look around the $1000 range, cheap ones just give you more trouble.

As for Kogan, their customer service is decent just a bit slow.

in rooms with an insulated ceiling. Make sure you have weather seals or seal your outside doors as notice it pulls the air in and it has to work harder to cool if not sealed. Great qualities at a very reasonable price. Only gripe is the window connection kit slider is not long enough, though the connector which is round is absolutely wonderful as it locks in and doesn't fall out like others on the market. Would definitely recommend. Have never bought a Kogan product before though decided to give it a go as they have received a consumer rated award for best portable air conditioners.

sturdy machine, still not enough to cool down a room when its 40C – Bought this machine and was hope that it can cool down a room when the heatwave come during summer, unfortunately, even this 16000btu portable unit still can't do it, the exhaust hose is getting so hot so we use emergency blanket to wrap around it, so think again if you really want to get a really cool room, may be split system is the only way.  Show details

When you can't afford a split system – The unit is heavy but on castors. It was easy to install in my sliding windows and the duct exhaust kit is extendable to fit a variety of windows. difficult for an Aged Pensioner who has disabilities to live in a bedroom that has water soaked carpet from a Shonky Air Conditioner. I contacted them about it,they sent me another one at no cost to me which ended up being Perfect,I'm Completly Satisfied about the second Air Con. but it Sticks in my mind why they didn't test the first one before they delivered it to me.

Great value for money – The cold air is fantastic! The external drainage feature is also a plus. The only negative I have is that the cold air shoots upwards. dosn't wok as stated. liked to a 3/4 HP not a 3 HP – Not satisfied. Do's not do the job. The Lounge Room size is 27 Square metre, In Darwin Northern Territory. the broken down A/c is a Kelvinator 2.5 Hp Split System and it kept the room cool. this unit will not lower the temp below 26 Degree C. even running all night.  Show details

That was impressive. Can sit beside it and watch tv no problem. The second thing I notice is the manual is rubbish and mostly left us scratching our head. The window connections are good but took me a while to work out. Love the wall connector with cap. We set it up in the lounge room which is the hottest room in the house and around 16 - 20 m sq. It has doors and block out curtains and this unit only just manages to keep it cool. Definately feels air conditioned but comfortable not freezing. The fan is not as powerful as our old one so if the kids leave the door open the room will heat back up almost immediately. Overall it is better than the Moretti. We are in QLD with high humidity and are running it on AUTO which also dehumidifies as required. it needs the drainage hose to connect out the window as it is releasing about 40L of water a day. Definately happy with it until we get something more permanent.

lower drain hole?! but I don't even have lower drain plug?!

Then for the bottom drain hole need to drain the water separately? Why is that? I'm expecting all the water will be drained from one hole.

Seems that this user manual is also used for some different model as well. This is very confused for our customers want to install by ourselves.

One more thing I am not happy with the windows kit, shows in the kogan ebay, Dimensions for windows kit is max 130cm

Min. length: 67.5cm / Max. length: 130.0cm

Actually I measure the length the max is only 125.5cm, my window is 130cm height. So there is still a 5cm gap on the top of the window kit...

Don't know kogan will see this review and give me a new 130cm window kit..

Service of Kogan is worst – The unit is good as it does its job with bit noise. But the service of Kogan sucks. The instruction manual supplied needs to be more clear to help customers understand the process. The manual shows adapter A & B but in the installation they will ask us to connect "Adapter I". Now that's a surprise/shock for anyone following the manual. The customer care team doesn't really have an idea on handling these issues. They have asked five working days to find out why the part was missing or wrong part sent with the unit. Extremely disappointed with the whole experience.

Pretty good – This was a good buy for me as summer is around the corner. Cools down the room perfect, however, this unit can be a little noisy. It is fine since I'm used to sleeping with ear plugs. Overall, I am quite satisfied as my room can get pretty heated and the portable aircon does a good job in cooling it.
